www.synergyspanish.com

Mistakes aren’t usually a big deal. Everyone makes them. Mistakes help you learn.

On the other hand, I’ve seen people’s communication ability get killed as they try to be perfect.

They’re scared stiff to make a mistake and it effects how they communicate…in a bad way.

They constantly worry about the minor points of grammar.

This causes them to speak so slowly and with such hesitancy that nobody can stand to listen to them.

Synergy Spanish doesn’t get you bogged down with minor points of grammar. Instead you use major communication patterns so you have the tools to be bold and speak Spanish with confidence.

You can find out more about this on page 31 of the Synergy Spanish Action Guide.

www.synergyspanish.com

The worst thing Spanish teachers do to you is make you be hesitant with your Spanish.

When you get out there in the real world and use Spanish, you will have to be bold. If you get bogged down in the minor stuff, you will lose the opportunity to communicate.

And communication is what this Synergy Spanish course is all about.

When it comes to speaking Spanish it is the major stuff you need to master.

What is the major stuff?

* Synergy Verbs

* Brick Verbs

* Mortar

* Pronunciation

Learn them deeply to express yourself instantly.

The Synergy Verbs, Brick Verbs and Mortar will give you the ability to communicate and be understood. Communication is what makes travel a joy.

It’s what makes better relationships with Spanish speakers and what counts in an emergency.

Make it your goal to communicate in Spanish and be understood. Get perfect later.

Sometimes a simple solution to a complex problem is best. Around 20 years ago in Panama, “shock and awe” US forces came up with “Rock and Awe”.

Back then Panama wasn’t what it is today. These days it’s a retirement haven. It offers a fully appointed beach lifestyle with just about everything that the first world has to offer but at cents on the dollar.

Back in 1989 retiring in Panama would have been about as appealing as retiring in Afghanistan today.

A brutal dictator accused of murdering his political opponents was in charge. He was also accused of trafficking drugs in partnership with Colombian cartels.

After a US Marine Corps officer was killed in Panama, George Bush senior ordered an Invasion.

In five days the USA had control of the country. On Christmas day 1989 General Manuel Noriega, knowing the game was up, sought asylum in the Vatican embassy.

US troops surrounded the embassy.

What could they do to get him out?

Storming the Vatican embassy would be a gross act of war against the tiny state.

A diplomatic solution would be incredibly complex involving extradition treaties and international law.

That’s when they came up with a simple solution to a complex problem.

They set up speakers outside the embassy and blasted deafening rock and roll 24 hours a day.

It was heavy rock including Van Halen and Metallica.

After 10 days of this psychological warfare the chief of the Vatican embassy persuaded Noriega to give himself up.

Me, I wouldn’t have lasted one day of Van Halen.

If you have ever felt like throwing your hands up in surrender at the complexity of Spanish verb conjugations I have a simple solution for you.

There’s no doubt the Spanish verb system is complex. Yet there is a very easy way to tackle it.

Instead of studying every conjugation of every verb in every tense and getting overwhelmed, you can make a small change in your
approach that turns complexity into simplicity.

The free audio on this page reveals a very simple solution to Spanish verb overwhelm.

Complex Spanish verbs made simple

If you have ever been intimidated by Spanish verb charts or discovered that your classroom Spanish didn’t work in the real world you’ll find this lesson a godsend.

All the verb complexity disappears once you make this small change. Even better, it will work in the real world. You can put it into action and use it next time you chat with your Spanish speaking amigos.

Complex Spanish verbs made simple

P.S. There is some contention as to whether the Invasion was legal under International law. I’m not making a political statement either way. And if I sound flippant about a tragedy I don’t intent to offend.

Hola amigos

Today I am going to show you how to get an instant Spanish vocabulary of 1,016 words.

It makes Spanish suddenly seem familiar and much less foreign. Once you know how to make simple changes to English words you can get an instant Spanish vocabulary of thousands of words.

Here’s what I mean

Almost all English words that end with “TY” can be made into Spanish by changing “TY” to “DAD”.

University = UNIVERSIDAD
Eternity = ETERNIDAD
Nationality = NACIONALIDAD

There are 231 “TY/DAD” Spanish Cognates. Take a second and think of a few more.

Wasn’t hard was it?

The “TION/CION” Spanish Cognates.

Exactly the same concept.

Collection = COLECCION
Nation = NACION
Promotion = PROMOCION

There are 321 of these!

“ATE/AR” Spanish Cognates (211 Words)

Participate = PARTICIPAR
Inflate = INFLAR

“IC/ICO” Spanish Cognates (253)

Plastic = PLASTICO
Traffic = TRAFICO

OK, so let’s add them up…

231 ty/dad + 321 tion/cion + 211 ate/ar + 253 ic/ico = 1016!

Click here for la lista completa de 1016 words.

If you can find a quicker way to get a vocabulario of 1016 words I’ll eat my sombrero.

These words are everywhere in Spanish, I’ll bet you can understand the following paragraph.

Hay un curso completo del sistema “Shortcut to Spanish” que contiene 31 secciones. Hay lecciones que permiten obtener un vocabulario de español de 3,145 palabras. También incluye el sistema de audio acelerado; en total hay 3 horas de audio. El costo es menos de 40 dólares.

I remember feeling 10 foot tall and bullet proof.

It was the night my karate Sensei taught me a secret to mastering any skill. You can use it for karate, playing an instrument, and especially for learning a new language.

Sensei Ambrose made us spend the whole night practicing just one block and a counter punch. A complete hour and half lesson just going over the same movements…

and I loved every minute of it.

As Bruce Lee said, “I am not scared of the man who has practiced 10 000 kicks, I am scared of the man who has practiced one kick 10 000 times”.

Next, we practiced with a partner. They threw a slow punch at us so we could learn to use the block.

Then the Sensei said, “now as FAST as you can and TRY AN HIT EM”

If we didn’t block properly

OUCH

Frankly, I was intimidated.

Especially by Daniel, he’s serious about this stuff, he works out, and when Sensei says, “try and hit them”,

he does.

He doesn’t hold anything back…

I’m glad there isn’t a video because I looked goofy and seemed to be flailing around…at least a first.

But as we kept practicing the movement started to fall into place.

Man it felt good.

In the end I felt so confident I could even hold back on the block to the last fraction of a second. I used their momentum to redirect them with the block.

Now they were the ones off balance and looking bad.

Once I practiced the technique even Daniel couldn’t hit me.

It was great.

This same principle can make you fluent in Spanish very quickly.

Quit trying to learn everything at once. That will only lead to you not doing anything well. The secret to building any skill is simply to learn small pieces and “OWN” them.

This is true mastery.

It makes learning easier and more enjoyable because you blast away all the feelings of overwhelm and replace them with excitement and energy.

Until you “OWN” it you can’t use it.

As you build each step on the next it seems like the language becomes easier and easier.

Your confidence will grow as you master the language one piece at a time.
It almost seems easy.

You feel in control around Spanish speakers instead of being shy and intimidated by them.

You Spanish flows instead of speaking slowly and hesitating constantly.

I’ve put up a special lesson from the follow up to Synergy Spanish, which is called Bola de Nieve, as a great example of Spanish mastery.

Use it as your first easy step to mastering Spanish and speaking fluently.

Try it out on this page…

http://www.synergyspanishsystems.com/blog/kickbutt-spanish/

British tourists overrun Nerja, Spain in summer.

According to Gordon Ramsey, they aren’t there for the Spanish culture, art or food. They just hang around the beaches, party hard, get sunburned and go home.

Gordon Ramsey is a famous celebrity chef with a potty-mouth. A recent show of his grabbed my attention because he was in Costa del Sol, Spain on a mission. He had just 7 days to turn the disastrous restaurant La Parra de Burriana into a success,

His show is Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. In this episode, boy did he have his work cut out for him. There was bad food; bad service and even worse the place was dirty.

During the show the restaurant dog even left a deposit on the floor.

Que asco! (How disgusting)

The doors only stayed open because of the one-time tourist customers, the locals wouldn’t even touch this place.

And the place just didn’t function. People were waiting over an hour to get served.

Dios mio (my god!)

What caused this disaster?

And could Gordon possibly fix this in just 7 days?

It turns out the solution was quite simple.

The unmanageable menu was a big cause of all the sloppiness. It had 72 items. The owner/chef was so busy trying to manage this extensive menu that he screwed up everything.

He even tried to cook everything on the same large griddle. The vegetables tasted like meat. The eggs tasted like meat. The meat tasted like c*&p.

Gordon designed a new menu of 5 starters and 6 main courses.

This reduced menu had fewer items, less ingredients and he sourced the ingredients locally for freshness and quality.

With the new easy to use menu the chef could cook in pans instead of cooking everything on a hotplate.

No more running around like a headless chicken

No more hour-long waits for the guests.

Best of all, the food was good and fresh.

And of course they cleaned up the dog droppings as well.

Gordon’s formula of a reduced menu works every time. Some people even call it the 80/20 Rule.

Focus on the 20% that gives you 80% of the results.

Most Spanish classes are just like this Kitchen Nightmare. The menu is just too big and confusing.

There’s too much conjugation, too much grammar, too much analysis and too little speaking of Spanish.

Es ridiculo!

The solution to speaking Spanish is not more overwhelm. The solution is to focus on speaking Spanish in the real world.

Just do what works.

Synergy Spanish is a road guide to simplifying your Spanish and cutting to the chase of what works.

If you’ve taken a class, started a textbook or participated in a course that made you feel overwhelmed, Synergy Spanish is the solution.

It’ll show you how to speak real Spanish you can take out and use anywhere Spanish is spoken.

Here are the first two lessons from Synergy Spanish to simplify your Spanish life and get you on the road to speaking the language.

Soy yo, Marcus, with another Spanish Beyond the Textbook tip.

Some say George Bush was the first American president who thought he spoke Spanish.

He would use a sentence or two in Spanish during his speeches, which his speechwriters would have made sure he got correct.

Ted, One of the characters from the Sitcom “How I Met Your Mother”, is kind of like George Bush, he thinks he can speak Spanish.

In an episode of the show he went to pick up a Latin American from the airport.
Here is what he said,

“Yo eres Ted. Esta soy Lily.”
“I ARE Ted. This AM Lily. “

Here are a couple of hints to avoid making these tedisms.

Firstly the obvious one, soy means I am, and it’s the easiest way to introduce yourself.

“Soy Ted.”
I am Ted.

An easy casual way to introduce someone else you can simply say,
“Ella es Lily.”
“She is Lily.”

Or if you are introducing a male friend you can use, “él es”
For example:

“Él es Denis Lillee”
“He is Denis Lillee”

Here is a common “tedism” for you to avoid.

Imagine you knock on the door at an amigos house. They ask,
Quien es? (Who is it?)

In English you’d probably reply, “it is me”.

If you translate that to, es yo, it will sound very strange to Spanish ears. In Spanish you say,

“Soy yo” (Literally, I am I.)

It’s better to say,
“Soy yo, Marcus.”
“It’s me, Marcus.”

Try out, “soy yo” with your amigos. You’ll avoid the Tedisms and you’ll sound authentic and real with your Spanish.

Spanish is not only a different language it’s also a different culture whether you are beginner or advanced it’s possible you are still making tedisms.

Hi Marcus,

Until your program appeared I did not think I stood a snow-ball in hells chance of being able to speak Spanish. I indeed took two years of Spanish in high school, but an exchange student living with my family could not understand my Spanish teacher. The student was a Mexican National.

Now, I live in the Republic of Panama, and have the pleasure of being married to a wonderful Spanish (only) speaking native of this country. For ten months we have communicated by way of BIng Translator on our two computers. It has been great… it has been fun…. but it has been trying at times.
Your sample Synergy Spanish lesson was an eye-opener.

My wife speaks only Español. By using the Synergy Spanish program, it works wonderfully in reverse. I simply modified the pause, play and stop functions, and after she completes a section of the well planned lesson book she switches over to the DVD.

In the first sentence, I referred to the snowball….. you know exactly what I am referring to: As I near the end of the Synergy course, I will be signing up for the other.
You and your wife deserve our very special thanks…. of course, you know, I or We, send most to her for being the brains and patience behind this wonderful endeavor.

GRACIAS…

William Hill and wonderful wife Angelica

Spanish is accepted as one of the easiest languages for English speakers to learn.

So why is it so hard?

Spare a thought for anyone trying to learn Chinese. They have to deal with a tonal language.

If you say mai with a falling then rising tone it means buy. However if you say it with just a falling tone it means sell.

That’s tough!

If you want to learn Chinese, I hope you’re not busy for the next decade or so.

There’s just nothing in Chinese to grab onto. The words, writing system and pronunciation are so different.

Spanish on the other hand has much in common with English.

These commonalities can make it easy to start speaking Spanish.

Unfortunately most textbooks do their best to make Spanish just as complicated as Chinese.

Flip open a Spanish textbook and see for yourself.

They’ll most likely start talking about how Spanish nouns have gender and English nouns don’t. And how the noun gender has to agree with the adjective gender and agree whether plural or singular.

I’m falling asleep just thinking about it.

You could study those minor points of grammar for weeks, months and years on end and still not be able to hold a decent Spanish conversation.

Right now there are people all over the world sitting in Spanish classes suffering.

Es absolutamente absurdo.
It’s absolutely absurd.

Es completamente ridiculo.
It’s completely ridiculous.

Here’s how to stop your Spanish suffering.

Firstly, take a look at the two Spanish sentences above. I’ll bet you could have had a good idea of what they were even without the translation right next to them.

That’s because there are literally thousands of Spanish words that are almost the same as English words. Por ejemplo;

completamente, absolutamente, ridiculo, absurdo.

They are familiar aren’t they?

Here’s a tip:

Many English words that end in LY end in mente in Spanish

Posiblemente, finalmente básicamente, totalmente, personalmente

Francamente, It made Spanish a lot more doable for me when I started noticing patterns to make Spanish words. It takes just 31 patterns like changing LY to mente and you can have a 3145 word Spanish vocabulary.

Spanish also has speaking patterns that English speakers can use instantly.

Por ejemplo, to talk about what you and your family, friends or spouse will do you just use:

vamos a + verbo

Vamos a hablar mucho Espanol pronto.
We are going to speak Spanish soon.

Vamos a practicar con nuestros amigos mañana.
We are going to practice with our friends tomorrow.

Vamos a visitar Costa Rica en mayo.
We are going to visit Costa Rica in May.

Put these patterns into use and you can make as many as 88, 000 phrases from just 138 words.

Here’s a package that gives you everything to take full advantage of these commonalties between Spanish and English.

http://www.how-to-speak.com/synergyshortcut.html

You can stop the textbook trauma and get on the road to finally speaking the language. This package gives you 3145 Spanish words and the power patterns to speak as many as 88, 000 Spanish phrases from just 138 words.

That’s right, I actually recruited Yamil Atala, who overdubbed into Spanish the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in La Guerra de las Galaxias 1- La Amenaza Fantasma (Star Wars 1 – The Phantom Menace)

He’s also the voice of Thomas el Ferrocarril Mágico (Thomas the Tank Engine), Flash Thompson en el Hombre Araña (Spiderman) and Charlie Simms in Perfume de Mujer. (Scent of a Woman.)

You can hear Yamil’s dulcet tones on the free audio lesson, Hard Spanish Made Easy, on the page below:
