There is a magazine with Spanish articles with information about Spanish speaking countries and customs. It also has English on the side to help you understand what you are reading. Each month is progressive, with new Spanish words and the meanings in English on the side. I have found the stories to be interesting and informative, and I am understanding most of what I am reading. I save them and return to the previous editions often and find that I can read them after practice with each new magazine that I receive.

The magazines are called Think Spanish. You can get 12 issues for the annual subscription rate of $45.95. If you also want to receive the monthly magazine plus a monthly CD that reads the stories to you so you can hear the pronounciations, the annual subscription rate is $119.95. I have done quite well with just the magazines. I realize the price is a bit high, but it’s worth it if you are serious about becoming more proficient in Spanish. And you can save the magazines to go back to for a “refresher” course if you need to.

This course is awesome. I was one of those people that had been taking Spanish courses since 10th grade and for 1 year in college. So for about one and a half year out of the 4 years I have been learning spanish traditionally, I still was intimidated by the language and lacked confidence in speaking, especially when in a conversational class. This course has given me the ability to learn spanish fast, and has allowed me to retain and feel confident. I will be communicating with my husband’s mom in no time.
