This lesson is especially helpful. I work on my Synergy Spanish system lessons every day.
I have bought the course and find these videos very useful
I am still a little slow out of the blocks with this language but these videos are very much appreciated. Thank you so much. I suppose I would progress faster if I had some neighbour who could talk in Spanish and chat with me!
I really enjoy these lessons which I can do in bite size chunks. It has been made simple to understand.
Very Good Marcus. Easy listening. The repeats are excellent
What is said on this website could never be more true! I don’t like learning Spanish and am struggling with the language but I have to say that these videos and approach to learning surpass anything that I could ever have imagined; they are simply incredibly good.
The lessons are so interesting and very easy to understand.
Thank you, very clear to understand
Thanks for this helpful tool
Very Helpful Thank you
Very hepful. Made easy and clear. Thank you
Your videos and notes are really helpful. I’m learning Spanish! Arrgghhh!! (as my Spanish friend writes)
I clicked on this page thinking I would get a video form with vocal and script for lessons one and two. I just got lesson two or dos in your Synergy lessons. It is easier for me if I have the words AND the voice pronounciation. This lesson is a little advanced for me. I am learning tho I am a little slow at it. Thanks.
Thank you so much Sir, it reallyhelps a lot.
you are really great and excellent teacher.
Lesson was very helpful.I have been working with dual linguo, but still get confused over tiene and tienes in reflexive sentences.djm
I like these short lessons, please keep them coming.
Thanks for making Spanish easy to understand. I am thankful for the audio and videos because it assist in spell and pronouncing the words properly.
Thanks Marcus. Great stuff which is very useful.
This is a great way to learn to speak a language because you are learning how to put the words in sentences instead of learning words only, that you aren’t sure of the correct way to put them together. It’s far easier. Thank you Marcos
This is very helpful and builds confidence quickly. Thank you.
Thanks Marcus. Your teaching method takes learning Spanish to a whole new level.
I’m going to Guaemala soon to practice live. Then to Chile. Your course is preparing me for this adventure. Wish me luck. Many thanks.
I am really enjoying this lesson.
Marcus, I am hearing impaired. Videos in conjunction with audio is the only way that I can learn. Audios are of little use to me. Do you have every thing available just in video combined with the audio? P.S. I hate Click bank.
Marcus Reply:March 25th, 2016 at 9:43 pm
Yes, sample are on this page:
Excellent ( excelente )
Hi Marcus, I enjoyed this video, indeed!
Very soon I will leave to Ecuador! There I will be on the scientific programme. This video was very helpful for me. I will have possibility to talk with my friends.
Thank you very much!
Saludos desde Bulgaria!
Love it, it’s a great way to consolidate and expand learning. All that varied repetition does wonders. Thank you so much. Regards, Doris
Hi Marcus, I really enjoyed this video. It was easy to follow with clear explanations and I loved that I can practice the phrases after listening to the sample phrases. I live un Spain so I can apply this straight away.
This video was excellent, it was clear and practical and I liked that I could speak in sentences straight away. I live in Spain so I can actually use these phrases in my everyday life.
I rely enjoyed your sample video and would like a couple more just to be sure before I commit myself I like your style of teaching it seams to work for me as I’m 64 years old and because I .can play it over again the penny drops if you know what I mean. Hope to hear from soon HARRY
THANK You I enjoyed the lesson on irme irse levantarse John
Thanks for making this easy to follow.I will continue to practice.
Hi Marcus, I started y our synergy course and I am very enthousiastic, I learned a lot in a few days and enjoy the lessons tremendously. Besides it even improves my english. I could not wish for more and after this course I centainly want to continue with your next course. Also this free videos are very much appreciated. Thanks a lot. Saludos Marit from the Netherlands
I am in spain on holiday and I am getting great pleasure at trying to learn some so thanks for the lessons please keep sending me them.
I am really enjoying the Synergy Spanish course. I have tried lots of others before this one. I like the short steps. You don’t do too much at one go.
I tried to download the videos yesterday but without success. Hope for better luck this time.
Really impressed! I am over 60 and have been learning the old fashioned way. Happy to say that this method is a more enjoyable and effective way to learn
Hi Marcus I hope you and your family are well. Thanks, for all the free videos it’s very generous of you. I need lot’s more practise and am setting aside some time each day to speak Spanish this new year. When I found your web page I’d looked at other courses, yours far out shone all the rest. You know your stuff and your a brilliant teacher. I guess this e mail is the equivalent of giving the teacher an apple ! I’ll see how my commitment goes with the free videos then when I seriously get going i’ll definetly be purchasing your fabulous course. Many thanks amigo.
This is a great video — I wish it could be stop —- so I can study it.
Do you have this type lesson in a course of study? I’ve never seen this before.
Marcus Reply:November 12th, 2014 at 8:05 pm
Yes, a sample and details are in this page:
this has been most helpful, thank you. I am seventy five years of age and it now takes a little longer to retain new information as easily as when I was younger. Being able to play these e.mails often is a big help. Please keep them coming.
hay libros que puedo comprar para el cursso Bola de Nieve
Marcus Reply:October 15th, 2014 at 4:20 pm
Synergy Spanish and Shortcut to Spanish have printed books available. However, Bola de Nieve is online only.
Hola, I really liked your videos. They were very well done. Are there other free videos? I have been speaking Spanish since high school (45 years) and teach English to Latinos in la escuela secondaria. Me gusta practicar y aprender palabras y frases nuevas cada dia. Solamente necesito a little tweaking – like with the reflexive verb and past tenses – (verbs in general).
Marcus Reply:August 14th, 2014 at 6:30 pm
Yes, there are many other videos. You can click the courses tab to see all the programs that are now available on video. You can also get videos
liken this one by entering your name and email on the box on the top right of this page.
As I have just started the course and have a limited knowledge of spanish I’m looking forward to the challenge , fingers crossed me amigo y gracias
Another legendary lesson i have loved them all , and cannot wait to put them into use in Spain this year. Thanks mate.
Hi Marcus, I am determined to learn the language, I even took a 20 hrs one to one class but can’t see much progress especially when wanting to do conversation please help. Furthermore, I am leaving in Madrid!
Marcus Reply:July 16th, 2014 at 7:30 am
Try the video on this page, it’ll show you an easy way to start with conversational Spanish.
Muchas gracias Marcus, that formal speaking video was ‘BRILL’. I really enjoyed it and realise how I need to practise daily your Synergy lessons so that it sticks in this old head of mine. Excellente! Salud! y Nazdorovja!
Don’t have website
Well done! I like your methods. Must learn now how to send money across internet. Maybe that should be step one!
Cual es la diferencia entre “Me levanto” y “Levantarme.”? Cuando necesito usar “Me levanto” y cuando necesito usar “Levantarme.” No comprendo la diferencia.
Gracias. I love your audios and videos. I have bought three of your courses.
Marcus Reply:December 15th, 2013 at 7:43 pm
You’ll use “levantarme”, when it follows another verb. You already know how to do it, as you did it in your question,
“cuando necesito usar”.
You might say:
Necesito levantarme temprano.
Necesito levantarme a las seis.
Just interact with the videos and it’ll start to feel natural.
Your approach and method are simply fantastic. Anyone should be able to learn Spanish.
Dear Mr. Marcus Santamaria,
Thank you for interesting video, to make easier learning Spanish.
I’m interested to buy, but I have no time yet to learn seriously and also not yet have money.
Hope next year I can realize it. God bless you and family and all you do to help many people learning Spanish easily.
The video is very helpful and we both keep trying , having done the earlier course. but after years we are not much further on, think we must have left it too late.or just don,t try enough? we are even living in Spain!
all the positive comments keep us motivated.
Thanks a lot. These videos are very helpful.
Recently I was upgraded to synergy Spanish video version , I found this a great form or revision . I was up to lesson 19 , but went back into synergy Spanish. And I can’t seem to find my new up grade , puede ayudarme ?
Marcus Reply:November 11th, 2013 at 5:55 pm
I’ll send you the access details via email.
The videos really help you speak and learn. Thank you once again for all your wonderful support and lessons .

Marcus Reply:October 19th, 2013 at 11:07 pm

Thanks so much for your interesting lessons and encouraging words. They have always kept me going. I’m amazed in your way of teaching and I’m glad to continue with the lessons.

Gracias Marcus, habla lentemente y bien. Muy claro. He sido ahogando en la gramatica. Pero ahora no quiero rendirse. Agradecido.
This is very helpful. THANKS
Thanks for this. Very effective, very easy, and lots of fun.
These videos are very helpful learning both vocabulary and pronunciation.
Thank you the beginners video. However I believe I am quite a bit more advanced than that. I am interested in purchasing a truly advanced course. Could you send me some examples of your most advanced videos to help me decide.
Marcus Reply:August 6th, 2013 at 9:29 pm
My advanced program is called Advanced Concepts Intensive, however, it’s not yet available in the video format.
It is all very exciting…an easier way to learn Spanish. Thanks
Enjoyed my short but helpful video. will continue to view & study and enventually purchase all of the lessons.
! Muchisimas gracias !
need to start over
Que grato fue que comencé a abrir uno de esas lecciones y me encontré con lecciones rusas y compare las dos o sea que prácticamente escuchaba en Inglés y traducía al Ruso y viceversa; que fácil se hace cuando uno comienza a entender los idiomas, Aunque sea tarareando. Me gustaría saber cuando y como se consigue los siguientes videos similar al de los verbos reflexivos
your free video is so help full, I think I am ready to signed up for the whole course
Muchísimas gracias, Estimado Marcus :
Ya he recibido tus “ Newsletters “ y he podido apreciar cuanto estén bien redactadas.
Thank you very much Marcus for your free lesson. I must be honest, I have learn more in your lesson now than what I have learn by attending Spanish classes with a teacher.
I really enjoying Spanish now by just learning with your video.
I would love to continue with your lessons.
Thankyou Marcus for your free lessons. you make it very easy to learn. my problem is understang what people say to me. l cant keep saying slow down all the time as i dont understand. any tips please
Marcus Reply:March 3rd, 2013 at 6:51 pm
You could take a look at Spanish Ear Training.
Your video seemed to be very good. My wife and I just started taking a Spanish class with Margarita Chavez in the Woodlands, TX, US. She teaches the verbs a lot like you do, so your video makes a lot of sense to us.
I am having fun learing Spanish as taught by you. You make it sound so simple and fun!
THANK YOU SO MUCH MARCUS FOR THE FREE LESSONS, I AM LEARNING A LOT KIM
¡Fantástico! ¡Muchas gracias Marcus! Your lessons are superb! Keep them coming in. I am really looking forward to your next lessons and learning more. Learning Spanish is wonderful and so fun. ¡Me encanta!
Marcus your system is so go, is there a complete video style learning package, cheers, David
This is so much easier to follow. Seeing it written down makes it easier to remember. Thank you.
I love your lessons and the step-by-step approach, it makes it much easier to understand and remember. Thank you so much!
Ilove your lessons they are very informative thank you
Hi Marcus! Your lessons are real good, but i was thinking to buy the cd’s for my car. I know you said i can download them on the cd’s from the computer but i don’t know how to do that very well the last lessons i ordered all of them did not download that good so most of the lessons are on the computer and i like to listen to them in the car, because i find i can really do the spanish really good if i’m listening to the lessons and looking at the transcript, but when i’m listening to them in the car it’s very challenging and i think by listening and not looking at the lessons for me it would be the better way.I have to get the ear and the cd’s are the way for me.I don’t know if you do that but I would rather pay for the cd’s instead of downloading from the computer.
i love working with your lessons . its always very interesting
A very good refresher. Senior Marcus
Thank you for doing this for all of us. CORALIE
This is very fantastic way to learn. But unfortunately even after logging in, I was not able to view the videos. The page does not open. I may be the only person having his kind of problem. Hope this can be fixed and it would help lot of your students make use of this great opportunity of learning spanish through videos.
New format is great!!!
Your lessons are extremely helpful–and fun. Thanks so much for doing this.
Love it! Meant to say as much a couple months ago! I love me some Marcus Santamaria! I was talking about you and your instruction style in the gym just last evening!

This is great. I’d forgotten that your lessons were the best!
Yes, a very good way to get me back to Spanish lessons
Seing the words, sentences and hearing the sound at the same time make learning a bit easier
Fabulous and very helpful
I am already learning from Marcus. Need a little more time before I am at this level
I ran through this video and I enjoyed it immenseley. It felt as though I was learning really quickly. I have taken spanish at school and really had a hard time with those reflexive verbs and nouns and this video really simplified things. Great.
Truly excellent way of showing difficult things to learn. Thank you!
Hola Marcus,Como estas? El vídeo es muy bien. Gracias!
Hola Marcus.Que Tal?

El video es mui practico
Megustria tener Bola De Nieve dos

Hi Marcus. Still plugging away at the Shortcut to Spanish. Was really surprised at the number of words one could use very early in the course. Short memory at my age is a bit of a problem but I will keep at it. Thanks for the updates etc keep me on the mailing list. Thanks, John K.
Thank you very much for your free Spanish lessons in video format.
I’m still working hard with your lessons “Synergy Spanish”, “Shortcut”, “Informal 1+2” and all the very helpful lessons attached to your newsletters.
I must say, that your new video lessons are JUST GREAT and very easy to learn from, and I’m going to use them as supplement to the other lessons.
I’m still working on a full statement to you of my progress in learning Spanish since I started using your lessons about 2 years ago, and I’ve got a lot to tell you.
Thank you for you great work to help people learn the beautiful language Spanish.
I’m looking forward to every newsletter from you.
Gracias y saludos desde Dinamarca.
Mas facil y interestante! Gracias Marcus! Soy una maestra de los niños jovenes en Nueva Zelandia y no tengo muchos amigos como puedo practicar la idioma. Sus videos estan buenos!
Wow, I love this format. To see the written word helps with the pronunciation, and ties everything in together. I am attending night classes and believe I learn as much through your emails as I do in class. Thanks Marcus, keep up the good work.
Hi Marcus, I just went through my Inbox and realized that I had missed this one but as always it is excellent, I just wish that I could think more quickly. I will keep trying!!!
Hi Marcus Thank you very much !
It is very good !
very useful,as is all of the information you send.please continue
These videos seem to be good, but I honestly don’t think I want to sit down to do them! I prefer your audio, that I can download on my I-phone. Then, while doing housework & running errands, I am able to practice Spanish on and off throughout the day. I don’t mind sitting down to do the written portion of Bola de Nieve, but once I complete the written lesson, I love to do the audio while moving around.
All of your lessons are wonderful, and I am making a lot of progress. But don’t replace the audio with these.
Well done on another great initiative.
Amazing work,Marcus.Gracias.But is there any way you can make these videos downloadable so we can download them and carry them around on our phones like the audio lessons which I listen to everywhere with ease.
Marcus Reply:October 11th, 2012 at 8:26 pm
Yes, I’ll also make them available in a portable format shortly.
I didn’t know you could use ‘se’ and ‘te’ for ‘to get’ and I spent 4 years at night school trying to learn Spanish.
Fantastic Marcus. Thank you very much. Although I am still trying to learn, your lessons help me so much as I don’t have anyone to practice with. But I am happy to take my time, as long as I get there in the end. But as I said your lessons make it so much easier for me.
Marcus, this lesson is fantastic. Gracias.
Very good for me to learn spanish, Thank you
Wow these are great! I’ll have to start taking these courses now. I loved your first ones, these will get me the rest of what need to know.
Thanks for these awesome lessons!
Bien hecho, mi amigo.
Very very good I will always look forward to your emails
Very interesting. I do need this. BJC
Muchas gracias. Your audio lessons and transcripts were very helpful for a lot of people like me who loved to learn a new language without any basic knowledge about the language. Now these videos you have come up are really great and I sincerely appreciate all your effort in make these videos. Keep up the good work. Thanks again.
Somehow this format has made sense of a few old concepts that used to be a struggle for me.
Thank you very much.
Me gusto todas sus lecciones—mil gracias, senor. y continue por favor

Very easy to comprehend.
Thank you, thank you so much for continuing to send me your lessons. I really enjoy them and they have given me the confidence to speak with my friends and in the Shops – which widens the horizons to be with Spanish people.
Do you also can provide it in French ?

Reflexive verbs are really hard to understand these videos help so much I hope you post more
I would really like some spanish lessons for an mp3 that I can download on my mp3 player, so I can listen to when I am travelling or walking, Beginner would be excellent. I have bought 1 from you, but not sure how to download it so just played a few of the games on the computer, but really want something to listen to when I’m walking or laying and resting. Waiting to hear from you.

You are a great teacher!
Excellent! Your Synergy Spanish courses are fantastic! This offering is equally as great.
excellent lesson ,very helpful. thank you Marcus
Thank you so much, this videos are very useful. Estos videos son muy adecuados al Español real que se habla y espero tener más videos
Muchas Gracias de nuevo por darme esta oportunidad de aprender
Top marks from me Marcus, but the real proof for me will be when I can say that I now totally understand where to put the pronouns! Good luck to all of us with that.
Would you make it posssible to upload with catcher please?
Hello! That´s will be fantastic. I encouraged you for this wonderful thought.
This was really great. It has helped me to take Spanish to the next level!
Thank you Marcus, for the free Spanish videos. They are very helpful.
Love the format – very helpful to see the written words as the well as hear the pronounciation. Thanks
great but would love to download to my computer
Good stuff Marcus.
A very simplistic and effective way to learn.
after learning 2 months español i was meeting
my amiga mexicana !
and she is … a dentista !
I prefer this format over the plain audio because often it was hard to understand the woman’s pronunciation in Synergy Spanish.
Thanks again for making me try to get to grips se and te Great Keep up the good work .Much appreciated. Muriel Scotland 79 years of age.
I have studied Spanish for eight years in various settings–group, private, school–and this is the first time it made sense! Thanks for helping me “get it” at 74…I am now living in Costa Rica and speak Spanish every day. With your help, yo espero hablar Espanol mucho mejor muy pronto!
I like the format. I completed your INFORMAL SPANISH audio course about a month ago, and liked it enough that I got and have just completed your SYNERGY SPANISH audio course. When I was studying these two courses (I’m still studying them), my thought was that a printed transcript of the lessons would be very helpful. (Note: The lesson guide for SNERGY SPANISH went a long way in serving this function.). However, these you-tube versions are even better. I’ll be looking forward to seeing your next additions.
I like seeing the words to clarify what is being said. It helps when the sound isn’t quite as clear as it could be ( on my computer ). Thank you for sending the lessons. I have learned many new phrases and listening skills.
I like that you can see the words and phrases as they are spoken
Excellent very good way to learn thank you
first time ive seen this very helpful
I enjoyed this lesson.
Excellent, I am a visual learner and the new format is very helpful. Thanks Marcus
Marcus, as always, GREAT. Muchas gracias!
Excellent as usual… Mucho gracias Marcus
It is absolutely fantastic. I know now that I should have waited for this instead of buying easy learning Spanish. However, I still use the lessons and this new video system will make it more easy for me in future.
I enjoyed your presentation and it has been one of the best I have seen on this subject. Normal Spanish lessons do not explain reflexive verbs well. I need a lesson plan that will fine tune my ability. I speak enough to teach Literacy but it is the fine touches that make the language more usable and to be able to speak with clarity.
these are great. Thank you very much muchas gracies.
To be honest, when I speak to people who have actually learned a new language they have often said they watched tv with sub titles so that they can see AND hear….so this makes sense. Are you going to do a course using this format Marcus ?????
fue una lección bien diseñada.
sus metodos están entre los mayores.
It help’s alot
Thank you for the great work
I found this video very helpful
I’m relatively new t this; gives me a real challenge that I really need. Thanks Marcus and keep sending this type of material. Still working through ‘Spanish Made Easy’ here.

I really like the video, I think it will help me keep trying to learn Spanish.
Muchas gracias Marcus.
Thank you Marcus for the free lesson. Once again you have kick started me to study more. I now stick to your teaching only, as it make you think how to put sentences together.
Just received your e,mail, have not read it properly yet.I lived in Spain 11years, three years ago,so need to brush up on my Spanish.
Living in Spain need the language
Excellent. Love the way it all links together. Much easier than some other lessons I have seen or tried.
Thank you so much Marcus, for this dynamic learning tool.
We are off to Tenerife for 2 weeks on the 13th and these lessons prepare me so well to talk to the locals which adds a whole new dimension every time to the experience. So many thanks to you as always.
This lesson, as always, is clear, repetition perfectly judged y quiero que irme en Tenerife .
very good lesson nice and easy to follow.
Good method of teaching. Thanks for the sample and well done!
Excellent idea, even better than the original course.
Anything that makes one want to keep doing your lessons is a good thing and the videos certainly achieve that. Practice makes perfect, which defiantly applies to Synergy Spanish.
Thanks Marcus and your team, much appreciated, Geoff
Excellent lesson. Thanks
Very good Marcus.
I’ve been very slack recently re. the lessons – will get back to it all later this month.
Many thanks for all your input.
As always Marcus, great stuff
THIS VIDEO VERSION SEEMS TO BE VERY INTERSESTING AND CLEAR TO UNDERSTAND.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.!!!!!!
HOLA MARCUS, muchas gracias por esta, me gusta los videos español hacer aprendiste

Hola Marco! Me realmente gusta los videos español, está fácil a entiender.
Gracias usted muchisimo
Thank you for the great lesson.
I checked out Jessie Trotters suggestions and found them to be excellent.
Thank’s to you, Jessie.
I find however that I will do better with the program format that you are presenting.
Thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge with all your students.
Brilliant. Even I got it.
While I’m here. I’m having trouble keeping things in order and in one place. I have a mac and I think your course is happier with widow.
Marcus Reply:October 4th, 2012 at 10:25 pm
I have a Mac too, they are great. The Spanish program works on both formats, Mac and Windows.
That was great!!!! I see the time when all your lessons are like that!!!! Fabulous!!!
the videos are great and so are you for making them so easy to use.
Yo creo que esto es el mejor forma aprender el español, para poder a ver y oir es grande, lo me gusta mucho, una idea excelente, tus lecciones son los mejor. Todo que entiendo en español, he aprendido de ti. Gracias por todo.
I like being able to see the words while hearing the phrases. With that said I also like being about to put the lessons on my ipod and listening while I work out.
Thanks for making Spanish easy to learn!!
Well done, video is a great way to learn. I hope the audio lessons are continued as well, sometimes the eyes are otherwise engaged.
I like it,
Hi Marcus thought it was great all the help you give us is wonderful it gives me such confidence I look forward to each and every one of your e.mails because I know it is more help in conquering Spanish Can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!! Penny
Simple and easy to follow. I enjoyed this lesson.
Excellent, this is what will definitely help me in my Spanish.
Seeing it in writing, listening to it and going back and forth with it helps to seal it.
Please continue with this format…it is well worth the learning process for someone in their mid 60’s.
Great idea. Very helpful. Engaging. LOVE the color coded written lesson distinguishing English from Spanish. Adds another “sense” (visual AND audio) to trying to grasp understanding. I really like this mode. Also, seeing that the word(s) may be a “single” word, or perhaps two words just helps in pulling it all together.
As one person noted…. an graphics added is just one more step to grasping the picture. Perhaps that’s down the line.
Thank you for creating this brilliant and easy way way to learn Spanish. Seeing the words and hearing them makes great sense. It makes learning and remembering very easy. I can hear the pronunciation in my head of the word or phrase I want to speak even after the lesson…and I get it right. Now I just need to keep on practising what I learn.
Thank you so much!
Like the new format a great deal. Would like perhaps a little cartoon graphic as you introduce a new word. Not invasive or too interesting but a tiny bit different. It differentiates it just a bit and makes it easier to run back to the start of the section of introducing a new major word concept– ‘irme’ for instance.
I like the visuals and the use of colors to add gently to the contextual clues.
Well done! I little tweaking and it will be mammoth! Can’t wait to recommend the new format.
Twice as helpful. Very nice to see the words as you are saying them.
I am at the B de N level and sometimes I use the transcript if I find a class a bit hard on the ear! I must confess that although I try to keep one eye shut, so as not to cheat, it can be quite difficult! I think, therefore it is a good idea to be able to have to make an attempt before you see the answer. Will you be doing this for the B de N course as well? I love that course because you use everyday Spanish and not text book Spanish. I am of the era of ‘ Le chapeau de ma tante’! In all the years I have been going to France I have never used that phrase!!!!
Great, love your lessons. What would be great here, as an addition, to work with visuals too, with photographs, with icons, to supplement the words, from time to time, to stimulate our right brain too instead of merely the left.
Future looks good, thanks
Great using both ears and eyes. But please keep the option of just listening too – I learn while driving, going for a walk etc! And I know I would quit my lessons if it had to be done in front of a computer.
I like the new format Marcus. It helps being able to see the words written as well as hearing them spoken.
I think you new system is excellent.
Absolutely fantastic! Seeing as well as hearing adds another sense input to the learning process – especially for those of us with a good visual memory. Thank you.
This is a complicated part of the language, and you have created a simple formula to learn it easily.
I think that using 2 senses helps it penetrate the memory more.
It’s very innovative and I like it very much but I think it will
involve a lot of work for you.
I like the new format – I think it makes things clearer.
Thank you so much for that lesson Marcus. Once again you have simplified, for me, some of the reflective verbs. I also enjoyed the fact that the words were written down along with the audio.
Great lesson on difficult to translate Spanish reflexive pronouns and verbs. I liked the video format. Showing the Spanish words as they are spoken really helps with remembering the phrase and with proper pronunciation. I could use a bit more time between the request to translate an expression and transmittal of the answer. Some of them translate very quickly.
Like the fact you can see the Spanish words as they are spelt.
This is excelente!
I have used your synergy and bola de nieve courses. They are fantastic! However, my wife had a more difficult time with it. No obstante, ella ha tratado los cursos nuevos tuyos con el vídeo, y digo, ¡Ella ésta convencida que puede aprender mucho mejor así! Por favor, notificarnos cuando tus nuevas producciones están listas.
Esperamos tus amigos agadecidos,
Eduardo y Catalina
I like the video. Seeing the words on the screen seems to make a deeper impression and clears up any confusion if one doesn’t hear well (like me). For some reason the video crashed about half way through the first time I played it, but I tried again and it went all the way to the end without a problem. Likely the problem was with my computer, but the video undoubtedly takes more memory so for ones without a lot of computer power the videos could be more difficult. However, I assume that in that case it may be that we could still get the audio.
I really liked your video. I think the different colors really helps.
This is great!!. It gives us students a better picture of the spanish language, with audio and visual input.
I liked this format very much
I started learning in April and then sold my house and started travelling and my learning stopped.
However I had a week in Vaughan Town in Madrid speaking English to Spanish business men and women and now have an even better reason to restart my Spanish lessons.
I think this format is great. I found some words difficult to understand before and had to google them to see what I was supposed to be saying and this solves that problem. Thank you. It will make it easier to get going again!
Thanks again Marcus.
Marcus, I think the combination would really accelerate learning spanish! I can’t wait to buy your program but I am using a ipad 2! Which your secretary wrote that your program is not yet compatible with ipad 2! How unfortunate!!!
Marcus Reply:September 30th, 2012 at 4:05 pm
My webmaster is making all the lessons iPad compatible.
Good program I enjoyed it!!
I really appreciate all the extra help you send, and the simplicity with which you make learning. I have tried many programs, and yours is the best- thank you!
Very useful practice with refelexives. In the Synergy Spanish course I sometimes (in fact usually) have trouble hearing your female colleague’s final ‘s’. This makes it difficult for an English speaker as we are automatically waiting for it to know whether it is singular or plural.
Again, many thanks for your help
Great Marcus I really enjoyed listening to that lesson and the way you put it together with the speaking and visual responses is great. Perfecto Marcus tengo que irme.
In my last response I spelled irme wrong, so here is the corrected version
Great Marcus I really enjoyed listening to that lesson and the way you put it together with the speaking and visual responses is great. Perfecto Marcus tango que item.
Hi, Marcus I think that these lessons are great. Not only do you learn the corrosponding words but you also get to hear the correct pronunciation of the Spanish. Also using them in sentences, the explanation of the Spanish word ‘se’ is just what I needed. Many thanks J.R.W
I liked it. I like the audio and the visual. More of this would be good.
Great, very well done!
Really enjoy learning Spanish with your course.
It’s a good way to learn spanish – Thank you very much
Hola Marcus! Gracias por invitarme a la fiesta! I found it very well done. I teach French and love looking at new ways to teach (and learn!) and I think it is important to appeal to as many senses as possible. I learn a lot from your programs. Keep up the good work! Tengo que irme ahora. 🙂
Thanks for the extra help in learning Spanish
Very good, It would certainly help me.
All the best Andy
as with all your Spanish learning material you make it so simple & understandable
keep up the good work
I appreciate this new format and this combination of audio, video and transcription. You can read, you can say it and you can proof your translation more or less in one step, this is great.
Thanks for your new experiment, I think it’s worth to expand it. It’ so funny to learn spanish in this way and in all the other ways like “shortcut to spanish”, “bola de nieve” etc.
Gracias por invitarme….this is easy to follow and understand..Está muy bien !
An excellent follow up to “synergy spanish!
Is there more?
Marcus Reply:September 26th, 2012 at 10:32 pm
We already have a follow up to Synergy Spanish called Bola de Nieve, and there will be more videos like this coming soon.
Excellent Marcus! You are always coming up with something brilliant. Thank you so much for all your care and help.
It is good to see and hear the words at the same time. It sinks in twice as fast, and also makes it easier for both auditory learners and visual ones. Having BOTH is great!
Heck of a lot of work though! Take it easy!
Me gustó mucho.
Brilliant. When can we have some more.
As usual excellent
Marcus this is a great idea, another fun lesson in spanish. Muchas gracias
Very user friendly and even easier to understand, Thank you.
Es una alegría grande de aprender la idioma espanol con usted.
Todos tiene razon y hacer feliz de entender. Puedo estar seguro
quando visitar el pais Espana
Love your teaching method — it reinforces old material as well as teaching the new concepts. This is a great addition to your course! Gracias!!
Gracias por invitarme a practicar con su nueve systema.
Está muy buen. Es un buen placer, verdad. Juancarlos
i’m a visual learner, so rthis system works for me, though I found Synergy Spanish just fine, too. I must admit, though, I prefer the old bloke to this new one.
What a great lesson! I’ve learned alot.
You do a lot of good work presenting your method of teaching.
I need to spend more time and practise, practise.
Thanks for your reminders, Al.
very informative / grasias ,es facil de aprender su manera !!
I am enjoing this lesson, and I am enthused about how easy you make it seem to learn spanish.
Thank you so much for these lessons, that are just getting more and more instructive. And I think your newest development is great!
I have been living in Spain for 7 years and have had one to one tuition for some time. However, recently, I felt that I had plateaued(?) although my Spanish is reasonable.
I find your teaching methods useful and entertaining and found this video very informative. We have been told that the use of “formal” Spanish for “you” is now very rarely used.
Many thanks for bringing your helpful tips to my attention.
Marcus, this is great. I will email you on the chain of emails we have exchanged about editing.
Marcus Reply:September 25th, 2012 at 8:22 pm
great Marcus, gracias!!
I remember alot from reading and writing new word and ideas so your combining of the two is very good for me.
Many thanks Neil
This is a good format and helps keep attention focused. It seems that after 5 months it is really coming together for me as I now can do some basic teaching in spanish and do not hear “monday?” very often. Thanks! Jay
I love the way you teach, it makes everything easy, Guess I have to continue learning with you
this actually brings the lessons to life … making them more effective since they hit audio and visual learning aspects.
Thanks I love your teaching way. So very easy to understand and help me to follow. Please carry on and good work
I love your teaching methods – they are so easy to follow and easy to understand, they have helped me considerabley. Carry on the good work.
This is excellent audio and visual combined just great
excellent, dont normally comment, very helpful. more like this please.
If the ladies voice was a little softer it would be better (not so harsh)
I like this much better. I’m a visual person, and I find it difficult to remember when I have no visual clues. Shortcut to Spanish was really good, but personally I tended to forget as quick as I learned. I think this would work much better for me.
Very user friendly! Easy to understand
this is good and i enjoyed doing it. but for an ageing brain it might just be a bit swift but i am prepared to admit i may be a bit thick.
I Love Love Love your teaching methods. Great lessons always! I love how you take alot of information and turn it into a short lesson that can be grasped in 10 to 15 mins and if revisited consistantly the information will be retained.
This is so easy to follow and a great improvement on just audio. Thanks!
I am now making my way thru Bola Nieve Two (Avalancha de Nieve) and find your current method very helpful……. BUT, I just love this new method of combining both. I hope you will be putting out a further study program using this combination. I don’t think I would purchase the programs I have already completed this way, but would purchase further study.
The written was a little distracting to the ear…. but the spelling of the verbs was helpful to see immediately. It’s a toss up!
That lesson was very cool.instead to listen to it I read it now.give me more meaning now.
This is perfect! I often had to check back online translator when I’m on the move learning Spanish. Now I can learn them instantly rather than hving to go back to the notes before I learn how to spell n write them. I also learn & remember better with seeing how the words are being spelt! but again, to test if we had learnt it well, we wld still hv to fall back to the hard copies. Unless we advance to apps for that. 🙂
Marcus, I’m 55 years old. I don’t know what a verb is in english. I would just like to learn some spanish.
Marcus Reply:September 30th, 2012 at 4:10 pm
You don’t need to know any grammar at all to learn with Synergy Spanish.
I love this, I like to see how the words are spelt. I would like to see more lessons like this-thanks for all your help so far 🙂
Thanks for the lesson. I have been a bit slack with Spanish lately so it is good to have another go. It would be good to have a passage in Spanish at the end of the lesson to see how well we comprehend the language when it is spoken.
Marcus, I’ve been with you for a very long time, and have done your Spanish Ear Training courses – this is a perfect evolution from that! Thank you!
Thanks for the lesson.
After years of learning spanish by reading it I now prefer learning by listening to it – but that is just me!
These are great lessons. The advantage to seeing the words aids in pronunciation. Sometimes the audio doesn’t totally pick up the ending sounds of words, particularly the “s” sound. Having both audio and visual cues will speed the learning process. This is a huge step forward. Thanks so much.
This is great! I love to read at the same time as I listen.
Marcus, Have completedSynergy Spanish and Shortcut to Spanish and found these new lessons very informative in explainingthe use of verbs in more detail. Keep up the good work.
Good programe would be better if there is music in the background.
For me reading and hearing really helps me understand better.
Excellent , a vast improvement over the standard course. Especially suitable for ‘visual learners’ like myself. It will probably re-inforce the learning, and certainly the writing of Spanish and the spelling, a bit like flashcards do.
Very good for it is all very clear and easy to understand thank you C M
Me gusto mucho.
I love this new format! I think it really works when both senses (sight and hearing) are applied.
Muchas gracias por la leccion. Es muy util. Sin embargo, me parece que irse se refiere—-to leave. Por ejemplo. Tengo que irme ahora–I have to leave now. Que piensa? Tambien hay otra manera decir lo mismo—-Me tengo que ir. Me gusta mucho el metodo. Buena suerte
Marcus Reply:September 30th, 2012 at 5:32 pm
Yes, irse can mean to leave
is a better translation of irse as it makes it a lot clearer for English speakers.
Yes this is how I would like to learn spanish really good idea.
I am a visual learner. The Video was very helpful to me. I do not have good listening skills.
Really liked this lesson 🙂
¡Excelente! Me gusta mucho su método de enseñar.
As usual, you make learning easy. It just takes practice. I like this approach. I think it always helps whenever you have audio with written lessons.
Excelente información, muchas gracias.
I’m sure this method is very helpful to many students, but for me, it’s so easy to just glibly read the Spanish words that I find your original method most effective. I have to really listen and remember when the words are not on the screen. It’s harder to do, but it sticks with me better. Your Synergy Spanish course has given me the best results of many methods I’ve tried.
Wow! This is brilliant! I have been teaching ESL and Spanish for years and have always had trouble teaching Spanish speakers what ‘get’ means in a clear and simple way; as well as teaching the reflexive to beginning Spanish peakers. I recommend your classes to my Spanish classes and hope they take them.
I have listened to your video and I think it is brilliant.
For me, I find this a much easier way of learning than just reading and then listening to pronunciation.
I would be very happy to recommend this course to anyone.
P.S can you supply me with a new memory retention part for my brain, as I seem to have got mine crossed with a goldfish !
I like the format and definitely think it reinforces what you learn. The only drawback for me is that I usually play the MP3 lessons driving to and from work.
Marcus, Me gusta mucho. Sigue asi. Roberto
I thinks its great to see the words but needs a little delay, because you see the answer before you’ve had the chance to say it. So gives you a chance to sort of cheat, instead of remembering.
Format could be useful for some–especially those not too familiar with Spanish language yet. I listen to the lessons while I’m relaxing in the evening or when I have things to do that don’t require much thought (like washing dishes). Therefore, English words on the screen with an occasional Spanish word isn’t particularly helpful or convenient for me.
If the lesson was reversed, that is if the entire lesson was spoken in Spanish (at a normal-for-Spanish rate of speed) with only the English words in English (and in a separate color — like the blue you were using), I would have found it more useful. I am very accustomed to reading Spanish but not very accustomed to hearing it.
I have taken this lesson before without the text. It is much better with the text than without.
I am a visual learner, so adding the video to your already solid auditory program is great! Thanks!
I think this form of teaching is quite good. However, since I’m listening the spanish lessons on my phone, the visual part of these lessons would only be for the first time around to imprint the spanish words in my mind. Afterwards, I would do as I usually do, only listen to them with my phone so I would like to continue to be able to download them as mp3.
I would also like to mention that Jose Luis has the perfect voice for your recordings. I never fail to undertand him when he speaks.
Thanks for your excellent work.
Thanks for this.
I think this is a great idea. I’m a senior citizen, and hard of hearing..the visual aid adds much reinforcement
Thanks Marcus – the reflexive verbs always trip me up.
I like the format – I look forward to your new release.
Great improvement. Nice to see the spanish word as it is pronounced.
I found it helpful
I loved it! this works for me, I am audio visual. By the way, does this work on iPod? I wish I had more time to learn more and faster.
Marcus Reply:September 30th, 2012 at 9:07 pm
Yes, it will work on ipad.
My husband purchased your synergy spanish lessons for me and I have been enthused again to try and improve my simple spanish so I can communicate with real sentences. I really enjoy the way you teach and this new method of audio, visual and transcript it just what I need. Sometimes, I think I hear the correct pronunciation but am not sure, but this combination of teaching suits me very well. Many thanks for continuing to try to make the command of this language as easy as possible for those of us who are not as young as we used to be and find it more difficult to remember things. I have been using word association to help me remember things i.e. Puedo (I can- can I) as in ” I can play dough” PUEDO…and Tengo (I have – have I) = I have ten goes TENGO this takes a lot of brain power and slows my response time down. I think this new trial version of teaching will help me spontaneously speak more spanish.
Many thanks Marcus.
This is an improvement on the pure audio because it is not always obvious how to spell some of the words. Although I want to primarily speak Spanish, I still want to be able to read and write it as well.
Many Thanks, Steve
I found this lesson very easy to learn , clear and very concise
Bien pensado, bien hecho, fácil de seguir, Muy bien.
Genomtänkt, väl genomfört, lätt att följa med i. Mycket bra.
I know flash content is going away, but wonder if this could be done in html5.
The video files are fairly large, and hopefully. Html5 would be smaller.
they could also be more interactive. With at least a pause button, or better still a proceed Button, with the pauses by default.
Or the lesson could ask how long you wanted the pauses at the beginning And it could play. With the requested. Pause length..
In addition, a move to a mobile browser would be nice. This site looks ok on my Kindle Fire but it is no good on my smart phone. And we know the web viewing is moving off Pcs to tablets and cellphones.
This is an aspect of Spanish that has always confused me, and I found the lesson drill very intense and helpful. Thanks! – John
I’m sure this will benefit certain people who learn visually, but as I prefer to learn whilst listening, and am usually on the move (commuting, etc) I wouldnt have access to a video anyway…I think if you were to try this method then at least run it alongside your current (excellent!) methods of bola de nieve, so that people can make a choice or even use both. I struggle most listening to spoken spanish and translating it in my mind quick enough to then give a response, mainly because I have no-one to practice with, although i know you also run the spanish ear training course so i will be looking into this next.
During early stages of learning, it would be better not to have spanish male voice, easier to understnd female. Otherwise very good.
Yes, I think this is an improvement and the lessons are in one part rather than two steps. K
Congratulations! This is an excellent way for me to learn, perfect. Very concise, easy to understand, I like the three colours used and the three voices. If you do a course using this form of video, plus the back up of written and audio I will certainly be interested so please contact me. . Many thanks for the sample
This is an even more exciting approach as it appeals to the see correct spellings, here correct pronunciation and get the meaning right. I encourage you to pursue this simple and innovative style of presenting spanish language lessons . More please!!!
very easy to follow more please
I am very impressed with this new way of learning Spanish. I am finding it difficult to retain the words…age 73 oops. This might help me.
How much would this course cost please?
Marcus Reply:September 30th, 2012 at 9:48 pm
We are still working on creating a complete course in this video format. I’ll let you know when it is available.
I found your new innovative approach very helpful.
The pronunciation is particularly useful and the examples used can be applied in many contexts.
Well done and keep up with your good work
Loved this way of building up vocabulary by repeating phrases and adding in new words to already practised phrases in the first part of the lesson.Great for building confidence with the language. A good way of attacking the tricky reflexive bits. Thanks Marcus. Janet
Some feedback: I very much like the visual text when doing the actual lessons. The coloured fonts make it very helpful and easy to read and remember. What I don’t care for is the use of text (English subtitles) for every word as you are explaining the lesson, as you lead up to the actual lesson. Having said that, I’m not sure what to replace it with, because you cannot have a blank white screen. One suggestion would be to film yourself talking into the camera, but keep the white background theme. Another would be to just limit the text to important words or phrase.
Keep up the good work. The more I listen, the more confident I feel, the more willing I am to make a fool of myself, and thus the more I learn.
I enjoyed this first lesson. It combined repetition and a new way of repeating and therefore remembering phrases.
I like this short lesson very much, and would welcome more like it. I have completed shortcut to Spanish and Synergy Spanish. I especially liked the Synergy Spanish, but have to say I am not doing as well as I would have liked. I am now taking private lessons twice a week for 1 hour at a time, and I am finding the Grammar very difficult. Thank you so much for this Audio, I will keep repeating it. I also like the format of the lesson, and hope to receive more like it.
Even though I have been saving up for a time to start learning Spanish I did try this lesson and found I could follow it very easily. Now I need to find a time each day to do a little at a time.
I have struggled to learn spanish since moving here 9 years ago, but now I feel I am making progress. No long lists of verbs and the different tenses, Hurray. Many thanks
Wow! Adds a new dimension to my learning – especially on the motorway. Never saw so many flashing blue lights.
Hi, Interesting, I’ve tried your lessons and like the idea of multiple repetitions, I’ve always assumed that the main problems are training the ear and vocabulary. this may be a help.
Marcus reflexive verbs have always given me problems and your approach and technique were great for me.
I hope that you can expand the idea as VERBS do take alot of mastering, something I need alot of practice and more imprtantly guidance with.
Role on the next chapter.
Very useful, and simply explained, thanks.
I found this a good way to learn and remember Spanish
Easy and helpful to follow
Very clear, step by step construction as always. Good to use the colour and to see the phrases broken down. Well done for your practical, logical and ‘do-able’ method of learning Spanish.
Marcus this approach and technique seems excellent to me. It certainly appears to explain the dreaded VERBS simply.
Keep up the good work.
Easy to follow and very helpful. I didn’ t receive any sound when I played the clip. Spanish audio could add hearing to senses used.
Depreciative remarks about ‘moving oneself’ etc, are out of place.
For myself some of the delays were a little long, but that could be a personal issue.
Keep up the good work!
The clip could also be used for Spanish speaers wanting to learn English if the audo track avoids any explanations and merely repeats the ‘phrases’ displayed, pehaps using on sanish voice and one English speaker.
Hi Marcus, this is an excellent idea. I really like it, all your other lessons help me alot while i was taking my college classes so i know this will be great too. I also enjoyed your funny stories and ways how to use basic vocabulary to make sentances. However, can you please advsie the best way to practice the pronunciation for spanish words. I seem to have a hard time saying some words.
Thanks for all your help!!
Marcus Reply:September 30th, 2012 at 10:52 pm
There are 3 pronunciation audio lessons on this page”
Hola. I thought it was great brain exercise. Nobody around me speaks Spanish and this type of lesson is a great help. The pause provided for our answers seemed perfect. Thanks!
Very easy to follow and expand one’s vocabulary.
I want more lesson. How do I get them. I really enjoy them. Please tell me how to get more and how much? Thank you
Marcus, its simply the best approach to learn the language. You have just out done yourself in helping folks like me learn to hear and speak Spanish. Thanks indeed
I like the lesson and the techniique. It’s almost painless. Do you have any lessons with the same technique but that assume a basic vocabulary and have sentences that are a bit longer and more complicated?
Marcus Reply:September 23rd, 2012 at 7:54 pm
We’re working on some Spanish starter videos now. I’ll let you know when they are ready.
I enjoyed it, I could remember while I was working it. I hope i will be able to remember it tomorrow. I loved your synergy Spanish. I tried the following one but it was too hard for me.
I am no longer living in Mexico and find it difficult to find someone to practice with.
I think these lessons are probably very good for some people, and maybe would have worked for me if I had started that way, but I’ve been learning by listening (and consulting transcipts later) for so long now that I found this confusing — too much to focus on at the same time. I ended up closing my eyes, listening and responding. Sorry. But I do like your lessons very much and have learned a lot. Thanks!
love seeing the words spelled out with the verbal explanation, hearing and seeing are a great way to learn
I have always thought that it is easier to learn by listening to and reading what is being said at the same time. It makes it much easier to understand and helps to eliminate errors that come from listening or reading alone. Add to that writing what you hear and it sinks in better.
Great! Love to be able to repeat and get the right pronunciation.
I’m still working on Synergy Spanish. This will be the perfect next step.
Thank you, Marcus.
This was great Marcus! I have tried lots of different programs and your’s is by far the best.
Very good stuff. My only suggestion is to not put up slides for the ones that only have English words on them. It is unnecessary. Keep up the great work.
I liked it, but the response time between the question in english and the answer provided in Spanish was too brief. My wife, who is fluent in Spanish, said it was indeed very good for beginners, but also made mention of too little time for the participant to reply before the answer was provided.
Thank you for letting me try this, and let me know if you will be putting out more lessons, or a program like this. Will using your basic program be required? I have been using both Pimsleur and Habla! However, I have found your basic program to be very helpful as well.
Thank you again,
This is great – i like it a lot. Helps you hearing and seeing the words at the same time.
I found this lesson extremely interesting and would like more information on further lessons. Is this a follow on to Synergy Spanish?
I like your instruction and would like to get a review course from you. I used to be quite adept at Spanish but through neglect I have lost most of it. Advise what you reccomend and I will buy it..
Marcus Reply:September 23rd, 2012 at 7:59 pm
for an overview as a review I would recommend Shortcut to Spanish. It may be easy for you, so try the samples first at:
Hi there, after a period of non- spanish, I have decided to pick it up again and learn some more. I believe that you have an excellent idea to introduce the video part and combine the written word, the audio and the video into one learning tool. Other language courses may have some of this but I think that your unique learning style ( just speak it – no cumbersome, difficult conjugation ) with the video will make this new approach a winner. I did wonder about the ‘ se ‘ and ‘ me ‘ combined with action words and how it is used. Marcus, you make it all sound so easy. It is very encouraging.
Good luck with this new approach. Best regards. Joe van Pinxteren
I found this really easy to follow, and the repetition made the new learning easy to remember. I thought having two different Spanish speakers was also useful.
Yes I like it, makes more sense when you see it as well. Thx
This is excellent, having the written & oral together. We have previously been doing the Synergy with a Spanish friend who really helped us with our prenunciation but unfortunaetly he moved to the North of Spain & we moved to the South!
I have recommended your course to several of my friends!
This is an added bonus and enhances learning in a greater way. Brilliant.
The video is excellent for beginners. It is a wonderful way of learning Spanish correctly.
Thank you for offering this service.
Sr. Mary Antoinette, FMH
Excellent enunciation by Marco.
An excellent concept and so easy to follow.
Thank you Marcus, this is a great method. I am able to pick up the word and phrases quicker when I can see how it’s spelled as well as heat how it’s said. The only issue I see here is it is more practical to listen to the lessons during the day since I don’t have the time to watch the lessons consistently.
Other then my own time management issues it’s a great idea. Just keep the mp3s available.
This was an great lesson. You have the best conversational spanish programme to date.
Excellent, as are all the lessons.
Holla, senior Marcus. quiero es un mye facill cystem por apreder buth espaniol o engles.
I thinke it”s very esay way to learn bouth English and Spanish. it”s fantastiske metode.
Hi five and thank you so mutch.
Just brilliant Marcus. Thank you for sending it to me; it made me realize that I know more Spanish than I thought.
I had a few months ago the intention to learn some spanish.
Because I met in Delft where live a spanish woman, who was working in the Netherlands for some months.
I invited here to my house some weeks later and we had a cosy evening, with good food, english conversation and the DVD SANSA.
Than I got the idea, I want to learn some spanish.
But she had to work 7 days in a week and lived in another place.
So the contact between us became less and stopped about 2 months ago,
Some miscommunication with the english language ??
Okay, what I want to tell you is that I like your funny stories a lot.
And that your approach is very original.
Good luck with your work and life ingeneral.
I need to stsrt with something a little simpler fist, but this seems a good next step for me.
i love your formats. i have learned more spanish with you than i have in two years of college and way too many books. i’m 70 now and love the synergy spanish. to be fluent before i die is on my bucket list!! my spanish friends help me all the time and i can’t thank you enough.
best wishes on your new endeavor i’ll be using it.
I LIKE your new approach! I found it very helpful–you are right–using more of our senses (reading, hearing etc.) helps us learn. And so does a bit of repetition.
Very clear & a good presentaion
I watched and listened to your first lesson and I liked the format. I bought to book and discs for Shortcut ot Spanish and Synergy Spanish becuase it enabled me to download on to my ipod and I also like refering to the book. So it gives me the option ot read listen of do both.
With this format you will have to have your computer on to use the lesson.
The manin thing I liked is the words are bold and in your face/
I liked it.
Hope this helps. I am about to buy the synergy Spanish 2 as I have learned so much fro the other books/discs, It has put the spanish I have been taught into simple forms so I am understanding it easier.
Thanks for that,
Yes I think it would be beneficial to those who find languages difficult to grasp.
hola amigo i think it is great especially for me because this semester i am doing spanish and believe me i am really ketching my skin it is very difficult for me to comprehend and absorbed and i failed it before and will very much like to pass it this semester, so it will help me a great deal also i have a power point presentation to do on any spanish speaking country , could you tell me what is an interesting topic that i can foucos on that will give me a good grade and keep the interest of the other students .Thanks kindly , i am looking forward for your response very soon.
I prefer this way of learning. What does it cost?
So simple, not only does it help me build, but it helps me remember as well. Repetition is King. Makes everything so much clearer and I enjoy it as well! Taking traditional Spanish lessons is useful, but this makes it live and makes it relevant.
Yes, as with all your stuff it was good…..and a different way of doing Spanish.
Thanks ..this format is VERY HELPFUL!
This is terrific! Instant visual feedback–this is my best way of learning. I can “see” all the Spanish words in my mind now–it really locks it in. I study your Spanish lessons every day, and often have to stop the lesson to look up spelling–it disturbs the continuity of the lesson. I am very excited about this new format. Thanks! Helene
Very good format, enunciation & delivery. Liked the use of male & female voices, repetition of words & phrases and blue & red color + coaching in English–all excellent points– positive reenforcement.
I was able to follow the female voice more easily as my range of hearing has declined.
A listing of vocabulary–Spanish/English–to be used in the lesson– at front end of lesson– would be helpful especially for a person like me who has’nt used or heard Spanish for a long time and who has become a bit rusty & hard of hearing (at age 86).
I must look into your synergy course.
Brilliant, everything neat and tidy in one place, great idea.
I think the combination of audio and visual and oral get all the senses going. The neurons in the brain are working from all three senses and this will only help enhance the learning process.
Very helpful format. Above my current level, but I still retained quite a bit of information.
Hola Marcus, has echo un trabajo exelente. Se comprende perfectamente. Ademas de esta forma aprendo el Ingles!! ( I find it very helpful, and the voices are very clear, this is the most important part )
Wow, this is so much easier to understand.
Thanks for your new video lesson. It is very helpful to me, because otherwise I don’t always understand your english pronounciation, which is not my mother tong, and moreover I have a hearing problem.
In this lesson I can read what you said and it seems much easier to understand (earlier).
My mother tong is French, therefore I know a lot of latin words (and speak EnglishI currently) I understand Italian and Spannish – escept for pronunciation problems in some regions. I have visited both Italy and Spain, people understand me and I unserstand them, however Spannish people claim that I speak Italian, and Italians vice-versa.
I tank you for your regular e-mails and will probably take one of your courses soon.
Do you have a specific recommendation?
Marcus Reply:September 30th, 2012 at 11:56 pm
I would recommend you start with Bola de Nieve. Being French it will be easy for you and should quickly help you overcome the problems you mentioned.
I found this very helpful and reasonable easy to understand, I think this would be a good addition to the audio.
marcus, i never know what to expect when i recieve your e/mails; they are always so interesting and extremely helpful. This audio/video communiication is the best par non. Would it be suitable for someone like me who has only completed synergy spanish and none of the follow-on courses yet.I have total confidence in your opinion; Keep up the good work;;;;;;;;;Mike
Thanks for the sample Marcus. I like to be able to read the words as I listen so I like this format. I agree with another comment that it would be helpful to also hear the phrases at the pace a Spanish speaker would say them, to gradually get better at making sense of spoken Spanish.
correction of Email address from previous comment. lo siento
I think you are progressing down the same efficient way of learning Spanish however for me the audio lessons are more efficient and practical in the way I can listen almost every where.
Thank for the Synergy program which is superduper.
brilliant, i can listen to it over and over again until it finally sinks in,it was easy to understand and just long enough, keep them coming please, i can see light at the end of the tunnel at last
I am new to your videos. I have completed Rossetta Stone 1-3 and am trying to decide which of your programs to subscribe to. Your web site seems to have a few choices I need to determine which one fits best. This video was within my understanding of spanish. The explaination of the use of the reflective helped they can be confusing to the student. If you have any suggestion of where I should begin in your offerings, I would apprecialte it.
Marcus Reply:October 1st, 2012 at 12:25 am
Even though you have studied a lot, I’m not sure how well your are speaking Spanish yet. So, I would recommend you start with Bola de Nieve and see how it suits you, we can always change programs if you need.
Definitely an improvement! I have completed Synergy Spanish and dont know how to take the next step?
I enjoyed listening to that presentation. I have been struggling a with the reflexive verbs and you make the concept much more approachable and easy to understand. I am getting your emails and appreciate the amount of information you provide. You are an excellent instructor.
I’m seriously thinking about buying your product, but want to make sure I can download it onto my iPhone
Marcus Reply:October 1st, 2012 at 12:33 am
If you use iTunes to manage you audio content on your phone you’ll be able to use the courses on your iPhone. Drop us a line if you need help with that.
Doing my first course with you at the moment. Have tried every whichway over the years to learn Spanish as I came to live in Spain 7 yrs. ago. I have found the course the most successful of all that I have tried including school, private lessons etc. It makes it pretty easy to understand. With all the other lessons I’ve had they made it too complicated.
I do think the video, speech and spelling all together makes it stick in the mind more easily!
Sorry couldn’t get it to play.
Five thumbs up. Would like to obtain this Course.
Muy bien, Marcus. This is a very easy and useful way to learn. It is much easier to catch the language when you see the words written and hear them being pronounced at the same time.
I like it. I think it would be a great addition to your lessons.
Informative and very easy to follow
Thank you for sharing
wow , really great idea , atleast i can learn how to pronouce correctly, thanks a lot
Why are you deleting negative comments, thats not a true overall picture of the program offered.
My comments are honest and it didnt not find this as easy as lots on people on here are suggesting.
Marcus Reply:September 28th, 2012 at 10:01 pm
I haven’t deleted your comment. There are so many it’s taking me a long tome to read them all.
I liked the format and the way the font was presented.
There may have been too much information to be learned for attention spans.
Very effective for helping to learn. The combo of hearing, seeing and saying the words and sentences in Spanish Multiplier would definitely add to your proven methods of learning Spanish.
For those of us who have already purchased your other program, Shortcut to Spanish, It would be great to be able to access all of your available systems, like a membership to your club.
Thanks for your clever techniques. I look forward to seeing more!!
Hi, and many thanks for the inspiering emails, even thoug i´m not English speaking, as you all can see;-)) I´m learning a lot from your lessons. This new way of studying is even better! Thanks for your dedication in developing new ways to learn a new language, Muchas Gracias!
I like being able to read it at the same time as hearing it. It seems to make more sense
Excellent drilling of basic spanish usage. More of the same please.
Fantastic! Easy and quick to follow. Wish i had this method in school.
This was most helpful. The combition of audio pronunciation with the
visual Spanish text helped me a lot.
I think this is a great way to learn Spanish with the proper grammar– I was
an English teacher for years. I really appreciate your method of audio-visual
I hope you will have more of these lessons.
I like the style – but take account that we think and speak here at the north pole very
slowly. It is not important how speed you speak — in Spain they speak very fast
but pronounce is very clear and separated.
Of cause it means much, how are youy .I am 75 but learning a little Spanis, it helps
avoid illnes as dementie to come.
I like you style and logistic
I speak as motherlanguage Finnish, good Swedish, same German, and little bit Russian
But Spanish is a door new world. I have been many times Spain, two times in Mexico
So very many thanks to You!
Hi – I too like to see the words and hear your teaching at the same time. Many Thanks for your continued attention.
I really like it!
As always seeing the Spanish written down is invaluable. My mum-in-law and I have learned Spanish together while living in Spain and back home here in the UK. She was so surprised one day to see on the front cover of a magazine ‘Hola’ and said ‘Oh my goodness I thought it was ‘Ola’!
As others have commented, learning a language has many facets and you’re now adding to your already stunning learning programme to compete successfully in the market.
I love your approach Marcus, it works very well for me.
Very good, cutting sentences down first and repetition, before making into longer sentences which often looses my attention and makes languages complicated.
Very good Marcus, easier to understand and take notes at the same time. Thank you.
Very helpful. Reflexive verbs difficult to grasp.
Thanks Marcus. That lesson is still beyond me, however you have done a great job integrating learning modalities. I have only one suggestion and that is; is there a way to integrate into the site an option to change the time that you get to respond in? The reason is that many older people, myself being one, take longer to think and process, especially auditory material. Many older people who appear to have hearing problems, just don’t hear that fast any more. Thanks
Marcus Reply:October 1st, 2012 at 12:43 am
As I mentioned it was written for people who have done Synergy Spanish, so you’ll find it a lot easier if you do that course. I don’t have a way to increase the time to respond yet. You can however pause it by clicking on the video.
Very new to Spanish but found this method brilliant. It certainly helps my learning to see the text and hear the words. Gracias Marcos.
I think that i could learn Spanish easier by this method thank you,Betty
Wonderful lessons. Makes it much easier to remember what you have already learnt and it is great to be able to see the spanish as well as hear it. I have not done any spanish for quite a while and it has brought me back to it with a renewed vigour! I will now go over all the previous lessons I have had from you. I think you must be the best teacher on the internet as I have never been able to learn Spanish successfully from anyone else!
Why does my comment say “Your comment is awaiting approval” is it because it is negative and you only want positive answers.
Even better, since the text is written in English and Spanish as well. Makes it more easy to understand for people for whom English is not their native language!!
This is wonderful. Unfortunately like a lot of people i really need to take control of my learning and do it every day not just when time allows!
VERY GOOD IDEA THANKS
This new format helps a lot but I also need to be able to download the mp3 file to go back to the lesson afterwards
I enjoyed this lesson very much, though how much I will remember in few days’ time remains to be seen. This is such a good way to learn. Thank you, Marcus!
Great methodology! Easy to use and understand. Your intro to “se” followed by visual combined with aural is excellent.
Yes I really liked being able to see the words as you spoke, the colours were a big advantage too.
I still love the mp3 downloads though as they allow me to learn on the move.
Thank you and well done.
Great! I’m such a visual learner that this hits home for me!
Wow Marcus,,its very intersting and helpful.. Really a great job:) thanks … Regards
Hola! Marcus……the video was good and tying all 3 elements together does make it easier. Every element is in one place and no more pdf download lessons. Good job.
I DIDN’T LEARN SPANISH JUST A LITTLE BY INTERNET AND WITH THAT I UNDERSTOOD YOUR NEW LESSON AND THAT REALLY GREAT WAY AND HELPFUL…
I sent an email. I like the format ,,,,,,,repetitition and pronunciation are the main factors.
Enjoyed this lesson even though have not attempted your synergy lessons yet..but intend to soon.
The repitions and visual with audio certainly help. It is just a matter of retaining what I learn.
Was good I like it 🙂
To be able to hear and see the words helps with pronunciation as well as helps develop the ear. I have a terrible time knowing if what I am hearing is 2 or 4 words, its just all gobbily gook to me.
This method appears pretty fantastic! Probably will give it a try after I finish Short Cut to Spanish.
I thought this method of instruction was very helpful.
Thanks, Marcus. I liked this lesson. It’s much easier than the audio alone. Understanding the spoken language is difficult, so seeing the words really helps. I prefer the male voice. The deeper voice is easier if one is hard of hearing!
Good pacing and repetition for reinforcement. I like the written word combined with the audio.
Marcus, mi gusto muy mucho.
Thank you for your great efforts.
I think this video will help us a lot.
Especialy for english speaking people it is good to practice.
Loved the new video teaching style. You have such a great way to teach spanish….not the typical class room approach with conjugation. The video approach is awesome and being a graduate of Synergy Spanish and almost about to finish the next Bola de Nieve course, I still learned some new words in this course and it reinforced what you had already taught about reflexive verbs. I would highly recommend your courses to anyone wanting to learn spanish!
If you go with this video approach in the future will you make the video and the audio files both downloadable? I put all the audiio files on my iPhone/iipad and listen when in the car or if I catch a few minutes at work!
These new video files hopefully will add to the retention!
Thanks for all your efforts in helping us learn and retain spanish as a second language!
Your’s is a very interesting way to teach Spanish and sell a Spanish learning course. The lessons are fun and easy. Plus, you don’t give up on your potential customers. I have learned more from your email sales presentations than I learned in a different whole year long course. You have convinced me …..I’m in.
The constant repitition makes it very easy to understand.Gracias.
I like the repetition, it makes me remember better.
Fantastico! Amorla gracias Keep up the great work!
Very good lesson. Thanks. Have you gone to LoMasTv.com? I find the immersion technique the best for me.
Marcus, I think this is very good. It combines so many levels of learning that I think it will be a wonderful improvement. As an educator and owner of an online school myself, I know the great difficulties in producing the material, but I do believe it will be of great benefit to your clients.
I live in Mexico, and I recently attended a school where all they taught was grammar. We studied grammar over and over, with the professors believing that if you knew the rules, you could somehow speak the language. While I learned much about Spanish grammar, I did not learn to speak in the classes. I did, however, pick up a lot of Spanish during the breaks by speaking to other students in Spanish.
I think your way of teaching makes much more sense!
As children, we learn to speak a language long before we begin to learn about grammar. I think that one can perhaps learn both at the same time, but it does seem easier to learn to speak the language as you go.
I grew up in Texas and California and have been married twice to Spanish speaking women. While I did speak a little Spanish before starting your course, the words I knew were mostly U.S. slang Spanish. Now, I have had to retrain myself to speak properly. My slang often gets me some strange looks here in Mexico.
I am glad to have found your course, as so many teach Castilian Spanish, which is quite different than the language spoken in Mexico.
All the best to you, my friend and your family and to your continued success!
The visuals are a HUGE addition.
I am just startiing the synergy course and I think this method of learning will support me in the next level.
I love your course so far and I am beginning to think that even though I am 70 and just recently retired to Mexico I can still learn the language!
In all honesty, I find the visual a bit distracting. My need is to listen and repeat, though it is nice that your lessons include a transcript for visual reinforcement when needed. I have learned SO MUCH from your lessons, as they are currently produced, that I would vote for not changing them.
This was very good. For my learning style I NEED to hear it, see it, say it and write it, so this had three of those elements. I also need a lot of repetition and to be quizzed.
In this sample lesson, the answers came too quickly. I was familiar with the material but I still needed a couple more seconds to generate a response before the Spanish speaker told me the answer.
really like the multisensory mode- see it hear it say it seems like a good system for learning a language. I really enjoy your free Spanish lessons and am now enrolled in your ear training sessions as well.Asi espero aprender mas rapido. Muchas gracias amigo.
que le vaya bien.
ok…. perhaps if one day i can find your video… By now i can get a empty box instead of it…
Yes I think this could really work. I struggled a little as it was fast but this could be solved by using the videos time and again.
Marcus, I have recently completed SynergySpanish. What you are presenting here in this trial lesson is exactly what I had been wishing for while I was studying SS. You’re right, using your eyes , ears and repetitive dialogue are more powerful than any one alone. Looks like your spanish courses are getting more synergistic all the time!
Muchas gracias por la clase! Douglas
I have studied all of your beginning course. I am currently on lesson 15 of Bola de Nieve.
I much prefer your current format. I like printing out the lesions, working with the written pages’; and then going to the audio lesions when i want to. That way I work at my own pace. I don’t like the over use of videos that are currently used on the Internet. It irritates me to constantly hear someone talking, forcing me to ingest information at their speed.
Your current structure really works for me. I am quite confident in speaking Spanish. I know that when I complete all of your courses I will be totally fluent in conversational and written Spanish.
I have compared your system against Premsleur, Rosetta Stone, US Institute of Languages; these are all great, but yours is the absolute best. Don’t fix what isn’t broken.
This is great, job well done Marcus
so enjoying this…just love it
Excellent. This is a very good way to learn Spanish. I feel that if I continue with these sort of lessons, I will be able to speak and understand Spanish much sooner than I thought. It is a very practical way to learn the language and enjoyable.
Wow, Marcus, this is wonderful. For me to hear and see the words is even more helpful than your lessons that have already helped me improve my Spanish. Your teaching methods are much more helpful than ANY other teaching method I have encountered. I look forward to using this new format.
Yes I think this would be a great addition to your lessons Marcus..
but please do not exclude the audio. lessons in mp3 format…:)
Brilliant! As always. The three pronged approach increases learniing, and hopefully, also retention.
I am in Uruguay and am able to speake a little Spanish, but I understand almost no spoken words. I have learned by reading, not by hearing. My ears are very bad and I hear very poorly. Makes learning to understand SPOKEN Spanish very difficult. I often have difficulty understanding even English. But your teaching method is the best I have found for my additional challenges of hearing and memory at over 70.
I have written you before that I am a former educator, and your courses incorporate many of the ideas I had thought would be helpful, but had been unable to find elsewhere.
In a word, your stuff is the BEST I have found, hands down!
I think this lesson was excellent. I have neglected my Spanish as I have been too busy doing other things. But I must say this was very good. I like it.Keep it up
This lesson was invaluable because it combined spoken with written. Also, because of the regular repetitions, I was able to grasp more easily the flow and sense of the sentences. I found the man`s voice was easier to understand and to lock onto.
Currently, I am grasping every opportunity to learn as much as possible. I cannot afford the cost of the Synergy course at the moment, but it is my plan to aim for this exciting tutorial in future.
Muy bien. It has easy to follow.
I found sample video very helpful.
This multiplier system certainly takes the sting, the “Oh my God, how do I say that!” out of learning. Thanks, I’ll be back to pick up on SynergySpanish soon
Fantastico, gracias Marcos.
I´m still working on Synergy Spanish. I found this very helpful.
Hello Marcus, nice lesson. Can you make it so we can absorb all this while we sleep?
Hi, Marcus. This is a great way of teaching. It makes it more interactive and helps clarifying things. It makes sense this way you explain it and show it and add the different persons into the sentences (eg. “I” and “you”). Much easier to learn this way. Go with it.
Very good Marcus and always better to hear the right pronunciation. I find Spanish very difficult to learn, as I feel you need to be with the Spanish people, but where I am they have their own slang…so infact you feel as though you need to learn two languages. I also know I need to study more, but find your synergy spanish courses excellent thank you.
Great improvement. Enjoyed the lesson, was easy to follow. Thanks
A great combination of audio-visual clearly stated and wih repetition to
reinforce the lesson. I welcome more, especially in this difficult area of
reflexive verbs AND pronouns. I am not relying on immersion to learn
and making progress. I am able to listen more intensely.
Great lesson! Excellent way to learn Spanish with audio and visual presentation. The pace was just right. Thank you!
Marcus, this is wonderful! My biggest problem is wondering if I am pronouncing the words (in my reply to someone) correctly, and by the time I think I know what to say, the opportunity is past and people have left me behind! I love being able to practice my reply so many times and not getting lost. I also like hearing both male and female voices. Many, many thanks for coming up with this very simple way to learn and understand. Repetition is the key!
Thanks, Marcus, all your lessons are useful to learn the correct speech formatt.
I’m just back from 5 weeks in Paraguay. It was great to be able to converse in Castellano and Guaraní. With the two languages I was never stuck for a reply! Thankyou. Stuart
Really like this format. I like to heard and see the words
Dear Marcus, we (my wife and I ) have been living in Spain for 6 years now and with the help of your lessons we are gradually becoming more proficient in speaking with our Spanish neighbours and friends. We go to a free language class twice a week but our teacher, although excellent, teaches in Spanish only.Sometimes it is hard to ask her to clarify a point we don´t understand . With your lessons we are understanding more about the way Spanish is used everyday, which to an English ear sounds all wrong. so… thank you, we like the new format ,its clear, easy to understand and useful.
Thanks Marcus, I like the addition of the words to reinforce what is said. Sometimes I don’t catch the complete word or sentence on audio only so the extra visual is very helpful.
Hi Marcus, have had a look at this new system and it seems really good to me.Trouble is we are a couple nearly 80 years old so the memory is not so good, in fact almost non existant. We are an English couple living in Spain for over 6 years and are really struggling. Have tried several Spanish Lessons/Courses and this definately seems the best so we are going to persevere with you. Trouble is, as there is quite a large ‘Brit’ population here nearly all the Spanish speak better English than we speak Spanish so we have got really lazy? Keep up the good work. Regards John.
I like the construction method of building on repetitiveness, but in a structured, but roundabout way. Seeing the wording on the screen, having time to try and say it yourself, and then hearing it in female and male voices is good.
I have enjoyed all your lessons over the passed few years and think its a great way to learn. Much as gracias
I like it so far, especially the colours. However I would prefer green instead of the blue, however I do realize that some people do suffer from red and green colour blindness. So maybe an option to change colour and font size etc might be good. But as ever apply KISS (keep it simply Santamaria)…
Marcus Reply:October 1st, 2012 at 1:49 am
K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Santamaria. I like it. I’ll be using that one.
Thanks Marcus for a very helpful lesson! It was easy to follow with both the words and sounds available. –Norman
Very good. Keep on going.
You are still the best language teaching genius and they should adopt your system here in the USA and stop grumbling and prove to themselves that the Spanish can learn both English and
Spanish and the Americans can enrich themselves by also learning English by knowing Spanish.
He who knows two languages lives two lives and so on.
Thank you, this was very well “staged”: Keeping my interest and re-inforcing concepts.
Excellent and very helpful.
Loved it . Found it simple, easy and useful.to use. Gracias.
I like this a lot. I like the combination of visual and audio. It is harder for me to set aside time to watch the video. I really like the CDs, because I constantly listen to them in my car or on my Iphone.
This is another level above your previous work which was already levels above any other course I’ve checked out.
Terrific. Clear and gives confidence to the student. and helps the words flow naturally.
This is twice I have received this and twice I have watched it. It is the best stuff you have put out there that I have seen or heard. I said before that it makes you a competitor with the US Institute of Languages.Your free lessons are sincerely appreciated!!!
I like this!
Anticipating my response, hearing it corrected really helps.
I really like this.
( Hay una sugerencia bajo )
Yo tambien, como todo el mundo que dejo commentarios, me gusta mucho el nuevo format.
Estoy estudiante de nivel Bola de nieve modulo 10. Y solo quiero decirte lo que me gusta màs en Bola de nieve: es cuando José Luis nos habla en espanol i.e. cuando el dice ” recuerde como se dice…”. It makes me feel like someone is talking to me in spanish and i understand !!!
Entonces, what i would find very enjoyable is that you Marcus would speak to us in spanish whenever possible (meaning in words that we would understand) depending of the level we are at. This way, instead of having us only repeat phrases we could also listen to you speak to us ! For me that would be muy suave !!
Thanks for everything !
Marcus Reply:October 1st, 2012 at 6:15 pm
Gracias por la sugerencia.
This will make me interested in learning to speak spanish again! When may I start?
Nice touch, but still like to work thru the written transcripts first before doing the audio visual.
I like this method of teaching the reflexive verbs. I have found this one of the most difficult areas for me.
Thanks for making things easier for us.
Extremely impressed and definitely simplified.
What a great way to learn.
Marcus, i have enjoyed learning from the synergy spanish courses, and truly enjoyed this new
direction and format…..most of all i enjoy the audio part, and then matching the visual is very simple.
please continue to teach and help us become more confident in our language abilities. thank you
I completely love the idea of using visual and audio media to learn Spanish. Great idea and I recommend you continue with this approach.
Love it. Adding the text assists visual learners. This totally fits my learning style. Thanks for improving on a great method.
Mentioned earlier that I like it, still do.
This is fine. I have found your lessons very helpful for learning to say what i want in spanish. However I am now “stuck,” and I don’t see anyone making the sort of lesson I would like to see to help me get unstuck. My problem is that although I can say what I want most times, I cannot understand what people are saying to me. If I say something to a native speaker, I cannot understand the response. So I find myself not saying anything at all. What I need, (perhaps I am not alone in this), are lessons that do the reverse of what most lessons do, including yours. This is, to drill me with expressions, sentences, and short statements, spoken in spanish, that I am then asked to translate into english. I need to learn how the “hear” what a speaker is saying, when he or she is speaking in spanish. Lessons that are structured to teach me to instantly audio identify vocabulary and grammatical structures would be invaluable to me. Mostly all I find are lessons consisting of short conversations in spanish. This does not help. I need a bridge to that via more structured drilling. Your lessons are the best that I have found for teaching me to instantly express my thoughts in spanish. But so far I can’t make it to the other skill needed to actually communicate with someone in spanish. Does this make sense?
thanks for all the help,
Marcus Reply:September 29th, 2012 at 6:55 pm
I didn’t find your email address in our database of students, so I’m not sure if you have taken any of my courses or just used the sample lessons. However, I do understand the problems you are talking about, I had the same problem myself. I talk about what happend to me and my ideas about it at:
I really like this format. It makes learning spanish so much easier. Thank you for this new way and making it more enjoyable to learn
Wonderful lesson! I love the fact I get to see what I’m doing/suppose to do visually. No confusion/wondering and no stumbling through PDF to waste time. Such a smooth sail. I found I get much better focus on the lesson. I’m sure lessons on smartphone in transit system will be a time well spent! Can’t wait to see this one coming out!
Marcus Reply:October 1st, 2012 at 6:16 pm
Yes, we’ll be making more formats available soon.
We found the video informative and the repitition really helped to learn the lesson. Repeat and build really works.
This is exactly the method that I have been searching for! I thought I could learn Spanish with on o line tutor but I constantly stayed frustrated. I was convinced that I could do better with a combination of audio and video. I want more of these lessons! Thanks!
I like the format a lot. I found the lesson challenging and instructive but I tended to lose focus on the reflexive verb learning objective – perhaps that was part of your design. I’d encourage more applications of different pronouns or spellout that a particular lesson would be about only one or two of these pronouns and add other lessons to address the others. More examples, shorter sentences, rapid fire,….
Me encantan las lecciones!
This is a much easier way to remember new Spanish words.
The program never started. Is this an example of your produce? I have 43 years of experience with computers. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Very good I like the way that you teach audio and visual, very good way to learn, you hear and see how it is writen Best regards Peter
Definitely a bonus to beginning learners. The audio and visual combination makes remembering the expression of ideas so much easier.
Thank you for always thinking of ways to help us learn better.
Love it. I like the fast repetition and the audio and pronunciation is much more obvious than before. I think it has revitalised my interest again.
I liked this lesson was good, I think seeing the written words with the spoken words works well.
Marcus, a great way to learn the language. I don’t think that you can beat a combination of audio visual and written.
I hope you continue with this method. Superb !!
Great watching and listening to even though my level of spanish is just a beginner. The repetitions make the learning of words and sentences easier than most other teaching methods.
Integrating the transcript with the audio is beneficial. It enables use of the course wth pure audio when on the go or with the transcript for a more visual experience. This method takes advantage of my tendency to be a visual learner and picture the words and will enhance my ability to read and write (common in my work in Chile) as well as speak. I enjoyed using Synergy Spanish because it eases the transition from speaking English to speaking Spanish. The use of repetition and increasing complexity throughout the lessons is very helpful. I am sure this course will help me and many others in their quest for Spanish language proficiency.
Love it…really need to finish synergy and get started here.
Marcus, I thought this first shot at ‘Hard Spanish Made Easy’ was really, really good. It has inspired me to get back studying Spanish again.
Thanks for your ‘hard’ work – well done!
I like the idea and am sure many people would find it useful. But I discovered while watching it is that if there if written material I focus on that and my “ear” didn’t absorb the content as well. I was caught off-guard by every prompt to speak. When I’m dependent on the audio alone, I’m very honed in on the sounds which has probably helped my quite pathetic understanding of the spoken word.
I drifted away from the video and started surfing the web while still following the auditory…my normal style with Bole de Nieve. Which, by the way, I love!
I love this! I learn best in a variety of ways, so hearing and reading and speaking hits me in different ways. You’re brilliante!
Seems pretty good to me, do you do anything of this type in reverse? My spanish friends, trying to learn English, would love it.
Marcus Reply:October 1st, 2012 at 6:21 pm
I am going to make a program for Spanish speakers learning English but I don’t have anything finished yet.
Thank you for this simple way to learn Spanish. I love it! It seems a lot easier.
I found the lesson most helpful and shall be practicing it over and over until it trips of my tongue.
I also like the fact that you can read the words as you go through the video.
This method of teaching is great! I really like it. It’s much easier to understand and remember the words and expressions. I like your simple way of explaining -combined audio and visual style of learning.
Great job Marcus,
thank you for helping and making it easier,
Thanks Marcus, this has been interesting and very helpful way of learning. I believe you are right when you speak of involving more of the senses in learning a language. I had to learn English that ways first many years ago. Now I also live in Costa Rica and have been trying for 6 years to learn more vocabulary and fluency, if only to speak to and understand my little grandchildren, who are also learning English. Seems to be working – and these videos would give me a leg-up!
San Jose, CR
I like how it builds a real conversation and changes – as well as being able to see the words in Spanish & English –
This format is excellent. For a predominantly visual learner like me to see the written words rather than only hearing is fantastic. Just one thing – I dont think so fast at my age and often cant get the reply in in time before Elena starts speaking.
I live in Spain and I read the newspaper in Spanish daily but when a Spanish person addresses me directly in Spanish I just freeze and dont understand a word they say so I think this visual, aural and oral method may help me to think a bit faster and not panic!
As always, Marcus, you have a way of making things so easy to understand. I still say that yours is the best Spanish program available!
I like the idea of video presentation; however, putting ALL the dialogue is too overwhelming for me to read. I would suggest putting the Spanish on the screen and occasionally highlights of the English dialogue for emphasis purposes.
I put together a sample to show what I mean:
Just copy and paste this into your browser and let me know what you think.
Thanks for all you do! My Mexican friend is very impressed with my pronunciation and speed of learning.
Marcus Reply:October 1st, 2012 at 6:31 pm
Thanks for taking the time to create that video. It does look very interesting and may well be better without so much written English.
I’ll run it by some students and see what they they think.
Depending on a satelite feed that is not very fast, even if they claim it is, keeps me away from video. But in this case it did not matter, the video never tried to load. Tried couple of times, nothing but a black box on the screen with no sign of action. Don’t know what the problem is. Joe
PS: I’m about a third of the way through the Shortcut to Spanish lessons. Have to say I’m finding the exercises very good. I’m living in a small ejido in Baja and need to learn Spanish.
Having the video with the audio was good.
Much easier then just the audio and text (PDF)
Muy bien Marcus, especialmente para nosotros, que no tienen en Inglés como su lengua materna.
Good lesson, I need some one to practice my english 🙂 and I can teach spanish as well …
It works better for me, Marcus. To see, and not just hear, the words helps no end. Sometimes the pronunctiation of the Spanish lady on Synergy Spanish does not come across as clearly as I would like, so this system really is a big help.
I like this, Marcus. It seems to go faster. I always read the action guide and transcript before doing the audio lessons. This allows me to do all at once. thanks.
Hi there, I tried out your new Spanishl Made Easy lesson and I must say I really liked it. In fact I think I will surely be using it more often. I like the combination of audio and video together and it makes it easier to understand. So hang in with it Im sure it will do well. Thanks much for the introduction to it.
I think it is a great teaching tool, thanks.
Marcus, I like it too. It helps clarify things. Simple and concise. Thanks.
Hola Señor Marcus, This is the best. infact now I understand more how to use this verbs. viendo y leyendo para mí ha sido eficáz.
Definitely, it’s a great….no,no…it’s a superb idea. Through this very approach, the learner will absolutely achieve better results, learn quicker than the usual methods and stick to learn the language.
You really did a wonderful job my friend! I am very proud of your talents and improvisations. You are on the very right path of being the best leading instructor of the beautiful language, Spanish.
I have just completed the first module of Bola de Nieve which I think is absolutely fantastic, but to see, hear and at the same time get an explanation of the words and sentences is even more exciting.
Marcus you are the genius of Spanish learning and understanding, i have genuinely learned more in the last few months than I have in the last 10 years.
I very much liked this format. I think the use of colours was extremely helpful and helps plant a picture in your mind. The building of sentences was excellent ( as it happens I do have to get up early tomorrow – so thanks for that!) without being overly repetitive. It took me a little while to learn to use queafter tiene/tengo and I struggled with ir/irse before but this really helped fix it in my brain.
I don’t know what you intend to do next with this but if it is possibe to leave the student with a mix of verbs and sentences which they could practise putting together might be a good option.
Anyway, I liked the new format – well done
Really a nice and very helpful kind to teach Spanish. It’s very simple but nevertheless clear. Thanks for sending me this sample lesson, Frieda
Yes, this is excellent. Much better way to learn, to engage more of the senses. Will there be more of these lessons? I certainly hope so!
Marcus Reply:September 29th, 2012 at 6:33 pm
Yes, we are working on more like this.
Very helpful, just like other comment problem with memory when older
love your spanish lessons – even as a German.
I think this format is great. It makes it easier to see the words spelled out and reinforces the audio. It’s a richer experience, and if one doesn’t want to see the words, it’s easy not to look at the screen and just listen.
I know that understanding everyday Spanish id difficult. I often talk to tax drivers, store clerks, shoemakers, or anyone else, and then not understand the reply. But the more I surround myself with Spanish, adding a little vocabulary at a time, it gradually becomes easier. I watch ‘Breaking Bad’ with my wife, who is a Tica. She speaks English, but wants to polish it for her work, so that’s the language we speak at home. While watching ‘Breaking Bad’ last week, I noticed that I was understood the Latin American Spanish speakers without looking at the subtitles. I asked her if they were talking more slowly than normal, and she said said they weren’t. Apparently I am becoming gradually acclimated. Many common Spanish words and phrases are now part of my speech — without translating in my head. It feels natural. My wife uses that show to learn more American English idioms, and I help explain them if necessary. Her questions improve my understanding of English! I also noticed on that show that the Spanish of two of the actors (one a main character) was not as smooth as the others. I asked about it, and my wife said, referring to one of the main characters, that my Spanish was much better than his.
Anyhow, keep up the good work. I enjoy your lessons, and can put them to use immediately whenever I leave the house. The urban area of Costa Rica is like a language lab.
Thank you very much. I have a long way to go, but you’ve been a great help!
San Rafael de Heredia
I have always thought it a good idea to to put written spanish on the screen at the same time as the audio, because even with the best pronunciation mistakes can be made. This would not affect me however as I have found that I get on better by transferring the audio lessons to my MP3 player so that I can listen to them while doing something else, preferably the type of job that can be done with very little thought. I had to agree with your recent Email about the difficulty of understanding a native Spanish speaker. I was disappointed while in Spain last month that although the Spaniards understood me I had difficulty in understanding them not just because of the speed at which they spoke but how they frequently left words unfinished.
I’ve got a lot more listening to do yet!
This is a fantastic method to learn Spanish. I enjoy hearing male and female voices. This is helpful, to become used to hearing spanish spoken by male and female speakers. But, the best thing for me is having the written word on the screen while I practise. It helps to put everything altogether. Seeing and hearing helps alot. Thanks Marcus.
Such a great way to learn. Thank you. Really like how you make it so easy. Yes very useful. Well enjoyed.
Reflexive verbs. Arse Irse etc. I have always understood that they are “mandatory” verbs, Which means you to “have to” take notice of them like “no swimming” (it is forbidden to swim here etc)
Marcus has unraveled another myth!
Loved this, makes Spanish easy to learn. Thanks Marcus. Blessings.
The video lesson was very good. It helped remember the words and how to spell them at the same time. Amazing as usual. Hope to see more of them soon.
Brilliant idea to practice speaking spanish, reading it at the same time, but the big plus is explaining the translation correctly I live in Spain and have problems when to use the correct reflective verbs, it all makes sense when you explain.
I think that seeing the words in a written form and at the same time hearing the spoken words and sentences certainly to me was an added advantage, please continue with this method as I would like to continue this form of learning.
Regards David Trippas.
(Living in Spain)
I have to agree with others who have commented about having the words on the screen at the same time as they are spoken, this really helps, as others have said sometimes you can’t make out what word is being said just listening, this is a much better approach.
Keep up the good work Marcus.
Good idea! Very easy to follow.
Most impressive, a real enhancement to your already superb material. I am hopeful that you can extend it’s use well beyond the trial stage ! Thank you very much for your continued efforts to innovate.
I wish I had more time to do the lessons, slowly but surely I am getting there, how easy you make it.
A sense of achievement at last. Many thanks Marcus.
I think this is good.
However, is it possible to provide some buttons like in U-Tube wherein the listener has the option to click with the mouse the PAUSE, PAUSE, OR PLAY button? By this manner, the listener stop the lesson for a moment and then attend to something, like personal necessity, and come back and continue the lesson at the part where he stopped a while ago. Thin of it.
Marcus Reply:September 29th, 2012 at 6:38 pm
We’re trying a few different video formats. In the meantime you can pause the video just by clicking on the screen.
I liked it a lot. I got to see the different verbs spelling so it made it easier to pronounce.Often I like to write out the spanish being said and seeing it makes it easier to learn how to spell the words correctly. At the same time I still need the mp3 so I can still listen to them in the car and sometimes I don’t have my laptop but am still able to practice my spanish on my cell phone as mp3.So both versions would be needed in my case. So thanks for continually trying to make a hard subject easier.
thank you very much marcus, your lesson are very useful to me and since i started with you, i have been getting endless improvement in my spanish lessons.
This particular one is the best of all so far and it has given me a clear way to real spanish.
thank you very much and may God bless you.
I thought this was great. I am a “visual” learner more than an “auditorial” learner. This helps me to see the written word and the where the accent should be for emphasis on words, and how to spell them. I loved it. Thank you very much for sending it to me.
Muchas gracias mi amigo.
This is VERY GOOD! Voices, both male/female and the text colours in
black/red/blue is also underlining the consept of easy/fast learning. 🙂
Will your previous “audio-students & clients/customers” that bought your
course – get a “special-offer” of this new version..? Hope so!
Marcus Reply:September 29th, 2012 at 6:41 pm
Yes, I’ll definitely make it easy for all my students to get their courses in the new format.
I like the video because is combines the audio with the visual which I find far more informative. Not only do you hear the words, you see them which aids memory. I also like the repetition and variation in use of the Spanish that you are trying to convey. Finally, human nature being what it is, it’s much easier to learn Spanish this way than to sit down with a book and an audio device.
Superb as usual. Many many thanks.I wish I had found you years ago. i have struggled with the language for the past 6 years & it is finally making sense.Altho’ retired I just wish I had more time to study.
Thank you for the lesson “hard spanish made easy”. Hearing the verbal and seeing the words was hard; but reflex words are hard any way. The lessons will certainly make reading better and more reading will help understand Spanish and its ways. I liked the lesson and feel encouraged to make more effort in your Spanish Courses.
This system is a natural extension of bola de nieve and I think it is very good. Keep up the good work.
Very good, makes more sense for the English to understand the translation.
Very good repetition helps as we get older, sadly like Ann below by tomorrow I might only remember half of them but that is 50% more than I owuld have known.
I always enjoy your lessons. I am hoping 2013 I will be able to spend more time learning with you.
I have learned more with your lessons that going to local conversational Spanish lessons.
Sometimes I find the words hard to hear but with practice I am sure this will get better. Of course, the older we become our hearing becomes less acute and we also lose the ability to remember quite as easily as when younger.
Just great! Thanks Marcus
Excellent as all of your Spanish lessons are. My problem is memory. As one gets older it is harder to remember what you have read, I now have one or two of these new phrases in my head, sadly by tomorrow I will have forgotten them. Snn
Very good idea. Thanks for you help so far.
Always enjoy your lessons you make it so easy to learn Spanish
I really like the format, simple well paced and simple and effective use of colors with large text.
I am an NLP practicioner and really understand the sensory impact of this style.
Hope the feedback is helpful.
I think you program is unique, interesting, and fun to do. Since I am currently living in Madrid, please inform me where there is a branch or representative so that I can get direct contact. A friend told me emphasizing on “key words” in communicating. Maybe you could give it a try. Works with me & the Spanish community.
Marcus Reply:September 29th, 2012 at 6:29 pm
We publish directly. All the programs are available here, just click the courses tab at the top of the page.
It’s just the normal lesson with the transcript pasted on the screen, no biggie! It is an improvement, there are times during the course of a normal lesson when something is missed you have to rewind and listen to hear it again, with this you have instant confirmation with the text which helps but is no big deal.
The teaching format is the same as the normal audio lessons (which is superb) and the old adage of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it applies.” Ironically, I found I concentrated less because the text was there and because of that Im not sure if the subject matter would stick as well as it does with only audio.
Your method certainly helps me to eliminate the stupid mistakes in declension I make when speaking in a hurry. It is good to practise getting the complete phrases automatically in one’s head – but I did need a good basis in the language to know what I was doing and I also felt there was too much English language which distracts from thinking in Spanish.
Really like being able to see the printed word and hear it spoken at the same time
Makes it very clear
Great idea. I sometimes try to make good use of my commute time on public transport. Listening to audio Spanish lessons can become boring. I have tried to read the accompanying PDFs, but it is difficult to keep these in sync with the audio, especially on a small screen. Your new approach overcomes these problems.
I hope to see an upgrade option for your current courses.
This also addresses audio clarity and pronunciation issues to some extent. I get frustrated when I am commuting by bus or driving or even walking and I cannot clearly hear the vowels or plurals, e.g. when pronunciation is “Anglicized” by clipping the end of words (is there an ‘ess’ there or not?) or flattening vowels into the English ‘ugh’ sound.
I liked this – it kept my attention more.
I have always enjoyed any thing Marcus does. I think stimulating all the senses can only be good. It has got to add to the learning experience. I enjoyed the lesson very much. I am the sort of person who benefits and remembers more easily through visual stimulation so it was great for me. I think all the courses would benefit from this format. Well done Marcus, look forward to more like it. Many thanks for letting me try it out.
Every lesson u give is soo easy to learn. My heartfelt gratitude! Audio lessons with text is the best. Thank you Marcus .
I found it up to your usual standard.
No complaints at all.
Excelente, gracias. Rosalind
VERY GOOD. EASY TO FOLLOW. VERY HELPFUL!!!
Nice to see the new method. It certainly does help to have the written words displayed as one listens, but then I always use the Transcripts you provide anyway and I like to have these to be able to write comment for myself or circle words which I have to go back and revise. So for me the written transcript is essential however I would also use the video as an additional resource.
Yes, this is better.
So easy to learn hard Spanish with your lesson. I prefer the lessons where there is only sound – because I put them into my MÅ3 player and study Spanish while I walk.
I never sit down in front of the computer – so I hope you can give both alternatives
then everyone will BE SO HAPPY!
I love the way you teach Spanish! I’m sure this will be very helpful for many folk, but personally I don’t like it. With the words on screen I read them before I hear the audio. This distracts from me concentrating on the audio, and the audio prevents me from concentrating completely on the text, with the result that nothing sinks in as well as it would with either format on its own. If you switch all your lessons to this format, PLEASE make the pure audio files still available! Carry on with what you’re doing – it’s fabulous!
You make the reflexive verbs so easy to undestand. I’m a bit lazy about my Spanish and don’t study as much as I should, but now I feel very confident about using the reflexive fom much more than previously !
I have always loved your system of teaching Spanish, and this is a great improvement, but in a group situation would only work if you have access to an overhead projector. The previous system works well using a blackboard.
What is needed is more advanced Spanish.
Keep us the good work!
Love this new version. Sometimes cant always hear the audio, so this way it is really great. Also its a double confirmation on the spelling. Love this. Hope we will be getting the new lessons soon in this format. Muchas gracias. Felicdades. Es increible!
I think for me personally its a bit too quick. I have synergy Spanish,Rocket Spanish and a whole lot more, but I cant learn the lanugage. However for someone who is progressing well it would be a help.I am English and have lived in Spain for 8 years and although I know many Spanish word and the dreaded verbs I still cant put many sentences together.
Knowing the words you need for a sentence doesnt help, when you put them together a Spanish person will say “we dont say it like that”.
I dont think this program would help if the person learning didnt have a good knowledge of Spanish to start with, its too hard and it would be daunting.
This is very good, Marcus!
This makesl earning spanish even easier
As usual, Marcus you make learning to speak Spanish simple! You take something which is confusing, detangle it and teach it in such a way it makes me wonder why I ever found it difficult. Thank you so much for everything you do to help me, and others, learn this wonderful language….. without the usual headaches of learning verb tables which bear no relation to speaking the language itself and are not helpful in any way!
Have just come back from a Spanish speaking country, having been learning Spanish with you now for about 18 months and had so many compliments about my command of the language from the ‘native’ speakers I was really delighted. Huge thanks.
Good lesson. Good to use male and female voices. I looked at some of the comments, searching for any suggestions for improvement, as it’s pointless to keep repeating the praises already given so many times. Got as far as the one where someone asked for clarification of “se” and “me”. I think “me” is actually clear from the context when the phrases use “I’ and not “you”.
My suggestion would be to add, on each “card”, a repetitionof the Spanish phrase, spoken the second time at a more natural pace. Slow speech the first time is good, as it is hard for us to distinguish unfamiliar sounds. At the end of the whole lesson,—and perhaps you would have this already in your plans– a helpful addition would be a whole interchange between two persons, using the phrases in a conversation at normal speed. (Or first more slowly and a second time at a normal pace.)
Great idea Marcus, this will really work as another course you can offer
I liked seeing the Spanish words as I was trying to learn them
I especially like your pacing, your building of meaningful conversational units incrementally, your method of adding fuller and fuller content, having different speakers pronounce different portions of the lessons, showing the words, phrases, and sentences, and then recycling back periodically to interweave and review the earlier parts of the lesson to lock meaning, spelling, listening, and actually hearing into one’s memory. You, indeed, are a master teacher. Thank you.
This is a very good way to learn spanish on a computer or I pod. Thanks for your help I allways injoy learning spanish with your method of teaching, Robert
Nice. Really good for people using iphones and ipads. I also like the color coding.
Fantastic yo quiero mas
This is wonderful! I love being able to see the words and construction, as well as hear the Spanish pronunciation all at the same time. Amazing!
I think this is fantastic mucho gracias
I think this is fantastic
I really liked this way to learn but I rarely have time to sit at my computer or even look at the printed lessons. What I need the most help in is understanding spoken spanish so I wish that you would have lessons when the Spanish is spoken first, then the English is next so that I could begin to get an ear for it. I love your audio lessons and constantly listen to them in my car. After listening to these lessons for a few years I have really gained a big vocabulary but need practice in hearing. If you have something for this let me know. Ear training was what I thought would be the answer but that does not speak the Spanish first either. Thanks for your help.
Marcus, it is brilliant! Never try to improve on perfection!
I would like to see this method also applied to a more advanced Spanish! The greedy woman that I am……
I prefer it as it is, not as some comment made by somebody – seeing a person talking – if I don’t like the appearance of that person, I get annoyed….. The bitch that I am…..
Marcus Reply:September 28th, 2012 at 10:05 pm
It’s been a while, nice to hear from you again. No te preocupes, whatever we do in future the current format will still be available on everything I create.
Gracias Marcus, eso estaba muy bien. Yo aprendido más gracias una vez más.
This is real good but kind of too long for me to get through. But I am getting up there in years. Otherwise I think highly of it.
I like the experience, getting a chance to speak it is more than half the battle, I think
Memory is like a bowl of live shrimp, you can stir it around and not get much out of it until you are able to properly grasp it…. I ll keep after them and thankls for the invite
Great…this is exactly what I believe makes learning a language easy – seeing and speaking. Now, if one could progress into everyday conversations using this method, wonderful!!
The video was very clear.
At my present stage of learning, my visual recognition of spanish is great relative to my hearing only the spoken word and even greater than my abiity to respond and speak verbally.
This was a fantastic way to learn how to use the verbs in a much easier way. Thanks for all that you do to help your students succeed.
Marcus, method of teaching Spanish is amazing. I always enjoy your lessons
I really like this format. I have always find reflexive verbs difficult this makes it easier to understand. Thank you
Hi Marcus, this smaple video is great – the combination of audio, video and transcripts is very clear and concise and being able to go back over it and reinforce the lesson often really makes it sink in. Is this going to be a new format that we can subscribe to??? It’s a winner.
Muchas gracias Marcus.
Marcus Reply:September 26th, 2012 at 10:37 pm
Yes, soon we’ll make an option to subscribe for more.
Brilliant! I have copied your lessons to cd’s and listen to them every chance I get. Having these wonderful, additional side-bar lessons only reinforces what I have learned. I think your method is without a doubt the most sensical approach to mastering Spanish and really ENJOYING THE PROCESS AND PROGRESS. I have been raving on about it and friends are asking me if you have a french version planned. Do I see a “Frenchise” situation in your future?
Marcus Reply:September 22nd, 2012 at 5:45 pm
Yes, I do plan to create courses for Italian and French, but I’m not sure when.
Muy bien leccion
Muy bien leccion
Hi Marcus l enjoyed this your new lesson too much,I appreciate you for discovery a new system of teaching.Although I enjoyed synergy spanish as well but seeing the thing pratical also needed. You are really experience teacher.GOD BLESS YOU.
I quite like your presentation, to mix sound with video. I was able to relate the spoken words with the Spanish spelling. There were times with your course Bola de Nieve when I could say phrases of Spanish but didn’t know the correct spelling of the spoken words until I had consulted the related text file for the lessons. ( eg I wasn’t sure if it was , Tengo brisa, or tengo prisa ) but with the video presentation you can immediately see & hear the Spanish together. This will probably speed up the learning porcess for your pupils.
I enjoyed Bola de Nieve and found it very useful to listen to the lessons in the car when driving to work, all I need now is start practising speaking Spanish, but that’s not that easy on the Costa de Sol when so many people speak to you in English. I am able to read & write a little Spanish and make myself understood but then I struggle to understand their reply, or they assume I am fluent and all the words seem to blend together and confuse me. But I am a lot more confident now.
Well done with your courses they certainly simplify learning Spanish.
Hello Marcus Thank you! An exellent way to be taught. I like getting the writing along with the audio in stead of first reading and after that hearing. Less clear words gets clearer when you see the spelling, and of course it’s important with the sounding along with the spelling. And along with the repetitions it helps you remember. But also the other courses of yours I have been following have put a lot into my memory in a way that I can use it naturally. I talk in phone with my spanish speaking girlfriend, and she praises my improvements.
Thank you again
I really enjoyed this lesson and found it very helpful. I am an Intermediate level in Spanish but although I can write in Spanish reasonably well, and understand quite well too, at the moment I can’t think quickly enough in Spanish when I’m having a conversation. These small sentences, and your methods of building them up into phrases are very useful. Thank you so much.
This is great…!!! I am always pleased that you keep me abreast with the times. If it wasn’t for you, I would have never bought myself an MP4 player or ever learned how to upload information. A lot more learning is going on here than meets the eye and I appreciate your help.
Transcription not only involves more senses in the learning process, strengthening the experience, it also clears up the ambiguity of soft consonant sounds caused by minor hearing impairment or poor audio reproduction.
Thank you for adding the transcription. It does help me.
me gusta mucho este tipo de esenando
Marcus, I cannot find enough words to describe the immense help you give me to learn Spanish. I am so passionate about the language and I so look forward to your Emails.
Really like it – brilliant
Excellent, would strengthen memory retention.
Had I started the course earlier I would have been prepared to pay extra for this format.
But now on Advanced Composition Module 11 – so its a bit late for me!! But will recommend it.
Nice to see you popping up on my Google searches.
Chris – in Mijas Costa, Spain
I like this form of learning, especially with reflective verbs. The explanation in the beginning was a little confusing but it all made sense once the examples were displayed. It will require a lot of practice for me. I still get confused when I hear groups speaking Spanish. They speak so fast and it effects my confidence. Thank you for the opportunity to view this.
San Antonio, TX
I have just tried the sample video and I am really impressed. It is Great ! As you say, people who have completed the Synergy Spanish course will get to grips with this very quickly.
The combination of audio and video with the pauses is a great idea.
Muchas Gracias Marcus
I like: the script with the audio, the format of doing parts of sentences before doing the whole as in the earlier audios, the short length of exercise.
I thought the following could use improvement: explanation of se,me. Se was introduced in the teaching area, but not me, which was also used in practice. (Am aware that this module is meant for Synergy Spanish students)
Overall: I like this a lot. I have done Synergy Spanish and would not prefer this over what I have, but would welcome it as an adjunct.
This is brilliant for me to learn, to see the words spelt is the way for me to learn as it goes into my head more, only the other day i said to my Husband, the reflexive verbs are the hardest for me and even though your CD’s I bought from you are excellent I do prefer to see the writing on the screen as I do not always hear properly the Spanish person speaking, must be my age I guess, I have always had to see a new Spanish word written down before i can learn it, I would like to learn more reflexives this way, in fact I could learn lots more done in this way!
Thank you for all your help.
English, retired and happily living in Inland Spain for 7 years now and should know more Spanish by now!
Marcos, this is fantastic, I can see and speak at the same time. definitely the way to go
Marcus – I like it. The more senses you can involve, the better the chance that it will “stick” in our brains.
Thanks for the invite.
Love it! The visual, auditory and spoken words together are a great addition! Maybe the next step is to include a bit of writing in spanish as well!!
Marcus Reply:September 22nd, 2012 at 4:29 pm
There is the option to also write in Spanish in the Action Guides to the courses,
Your combination of audio and video was a very good idea and was very helpful.
Hola, Marcus! I gave a try to your new format of lesson and found it extremely effective for me. Studing English as my second language I understood one very important thing about my way of memorizing – my eyes have their own memory and in order to memorize anything it’s absolutely necessary for me TO SEE words and frases in a written form while I listen to or try to say it. I am sure that many psychologists would agree that the combination of listening, saying and seeing is the best way to memorize any kind of things so more when it comes to studying a new language. Thank you for your passion in teaching and outstanding creativity!
Dear Marcus,It was serendipidy that you sent your(all too brief) exersize in reflective verbs at this time because I am struggling with them right now.Lo pienso muy bien pero demarsiadio pequeno
Despite this, it was very helpful that you used ‘irme’ as your example. It may be helpful to tell you that what is most difficult for is remembering the reversed word order for subject ans object
Very good video Marcus and I like to hear and see the words but since the words are there, I don’t have to work very hard, so I close my eyes, listen and hopefully get the words out before you do! I think it is a good idea to have a lot of different speakers I did find that the volume was quite low.
Thanks you and keep up the good work.
I enjoyed this too, because I really benefit from your question/answer technique and especially appreciate the way you teach idiomatic phrases in the use of the reflexive– irme, etc. I must admit though I’m more of an auditory learner and don’t really want to see your introductory comments – the Spanish phrase, yes, and perhaps even the English, but I found the rest distracting.
On the whole, I love your selection and grading of the most helpful material for us to learn and your use of the listen/respond pattern with a variety of Spanish speakers.
Very helpful – connecting the written Spanish with the spoken. Very nice approach to explaining the reflexive.Thank you!Is it maybe possible to increase the volume?
Marcus, this is just too good for learners of spanish language, i am just trying learning spanish in Argentina and with this your audio/video, it will take me a long way as it will always serve as a reference. Marcus, please i wish you do all your courses in this format to enable learners to hear and read so that it will be easier for them to rcognise and remmember whenever they come across such words. I wish you more success!
Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Hola Marcus and thanks for the video tryout.
Combining video, audio and speaking was a good idea, and I enjoyed the repetition in both male and female voice as well as the built-in progression that carries the learner steadily forward. The section on reflexive verbs that are best translated by “Get ….” eg to get sick, was especially helpful. Seems you are getting better at teaching and we are getting better at learning, so it’s win-win! The pauses were really good, and I quickly learned to anticipate what was coming before it was said on a number of occasions. That’s a very satisfying feeling. There was even enough time for me to correct my pronunciation if I made a small error. Here’s my tip –
One tip that I hope will help you fine tune it: I had the volume on max, and it was not quite loud enough. Set the volume higher, then the listener can always reduce it him/herself as needed. Bill
Love, Love, LOVE this. I would like more! Helps me so much when I can SEE the words as well as hear them.
You are such a great teacher and entrepreneur.
This is a great idea, to be able to read the words as you speak, also to see how the words are
spelled ( which sometimes is hard to tell from just listening – when spoken quickly) Although you do formal version – myself would prefer familiar for everyday use when communicating with everyday things like shopping – I don’t think most people use formal in everyday life situations unless meeting elders. (could be wrong). Anyway this is a better way for me to learn.
Good idea to combine the audiolesson with the transcripiton. Suits visual lerners like myself better than the audio lesson alone but forces me not to rush through the lesson like I would with just a written dialogue.
Dear Marcus, This is a WONDERFUL idea! A great way to learn … But I still feel that just the woman’s voice, (and yours of course ), would be much easier to understand — and if you must include a man’s voice, perhaps an English speaker,( you perhaps??) speaking Spanish, might be of more help.
The first male speaker you had — made it so impossible to understand I had to delete the Spanish Ear Training, because I simply couldn’t hear or comprehend what he was saying.
Thank you for this lesson… Really good suff!
Warmly, Mary Dorman
I found this a very good idea. I´m Swedish and learning from English to Spanish. Then I think it was very easy to follow when I could both see and listen at the same time.
I work with Bola de nieve and find these reflexiv verbs are a bit tricky. Whish I could see these phrases written .
Thank you for being such a good and concequent teacher!
I am still learning Spanish but i think this is a great format if only I had this at the start I would be a lot farther along.
I have not spent much time on your previous programs – I can tell you that I enjoy learning this way -it builds as you go along.
Thank you Lidna
Your tutorials are so easy to follow – by far the best Spanish teaching method I have found so far.
muchas gracias. me gusta la lección!
Being a little hard of hearing, it’s sometimes difficult for me to pick up the correct pronunciation of some words. With the printed word appearing simultaneously with the spoken helps me tremendously. Thank you.
Es un muy bueno video. Muchas gracias para enviarlo. Su Synergy Spanish es el corso mejor en espanol que he visto. Siempre revise mi español con su curso antes de ir a España. Me espanol no es perfecto pero es suficiente.
Dear Marcus this is a wonderful help with Synergy Spanish many thanks
Muriel From Scotland age 79 years
I like the new version with the visibility of the words and phrases. It will help with the total learning, reading, writing and speaking better Spanish.
I wish you had this back in 2006 when I purchased one of your programs, under the name (wife) Patrica Jordan ….. The way your doing it now is very good ….. All thru my life I learned by Seeing-Hearing-Doing ….. When you see the word, hear it,and say it at the same time, you remember it.
I enjoy YOUR way of teaching ….. I have seen many ways to try and learn Spanish (not good) ….. Yours is the best ….. But, your new version is even better than ever.
Thank you ….. Johnny Jordan
It didn’t work for me. It replicated the written work where I see the english and translate.
In the tapes I am practising a different skill: holding the phrase in my head and translating….much more like a real life situation where you only have the aural, no visual prompts.
I find the tapes challenging, but very worthwhile. I prefer to practice both the written and aural parts and would find the video more difficult to learn from.
(Thanks for trying!, but please don’t remove the tapes.)
Good idea. But what really puts me off is the, to me, really ugly accent of the spanish speaker. Which regional voice is it? A classic accent is more neutral and more general.
Marcus Reply:September 26th, 2012 at 10:41 pm
The female voice is my wife Elena. I like her accent, we mostly get good feedback . The male voice is Yamil. He is a voice professional who does a lot dubbing for movies. His brief was to give us neutral and clear accent for those audio.
The repetition is very important because you have to learn the expressions like tienne razón, you can’t just translate the words.
I am Danish but I speak English very well. I would like to speak Spanish as well as I speak English.
Until now I haven’t been very persistent, but I would really like to speak Spanish and be able to express myself in that language.
This is a good method, I enjoyed the lesson. Thank you.
Thanks for the sample. An excellent idea, it seems to be better with the video.
I also live in a Spanish village and can now speak enough, thanks mainly to your course but I still have a big problem understanding when they speak to me.
I can now speak better Spanish than my cat, who is local but I don’t understand him.
I have recommended your course to many Brits out here.
Hi Marcus this system is really efective for me I am a little deaf and so this method covers it all I hear the words see the english words then pause the program give my answer and then continue to instantly see if I have said it correctly. invaluble quick response. thank you for your terific free spanish help Kind regards Mike Pegg
Marcus, extremely helpful, easy to follow and a great asset in helping me to improve my confidence in speaking Spanish.
i think it was very good that was part one how many more parts are there and how much does it cost?
There are seven parts. It’s included with membership in Bola de Nieve.
I thing it´s good thing that there is a choice to watch the video for spelling while listening to the audio.
Thanks, Marcus. Great to see the words as well as hear them. Love the repetition that gets it into my brain!
Marcus. I have already replied to your query a couple of weeks ago. I stated that the lessons are very good and more importantly kept simple. Very Very Good.
Thank you for allowing me to try the Hard Spanish Made Easy sample, I found it very easy to follow the lesson, and to understand the content. I have been living to Spain for the past 18 months and learning Spanish informaly through my interaction with Spanish friends. I have been looking for some time at the various courses you provide but as yet I have not been able to decide which would be best for me, as I am quite strong in some areas and weak in others. But I did find the style of this particular lesson very good, with the audio content re-enforced with the written word. I think courses in this format would be a real winner.
I think this would be an excellent way for me to learn Spanish. I must admit I am a slow learning and am finding it very difficult to learn
For me the problem with this method would be if you need an Internet connection to view the video. I usually study on the train after downloading the audio files. It is useful however to read and listen at the same time but then it’s not a big problem printing out the script and listening to the audio. Currently I even download the PDF scripts and view them on my iPhone if I don’t want to print. An iPhone app would be better Marcus !
Thanks for this sample lesson, which I enjoyed. It has helped me to get to grips with those reflexive verbs. II was puzzled by the pronunciation of the final ´me´ or ‘se’ in the verbs…I thought it sounded like ‘mi’ or ‘si’. I thought the Spanish vowel e was pronounced like ‘eh’. Does it vary?
I enjoyed the lesson,more please.Adios.
I very much enjoyed this lesson. It made me think, but it got me speaking which is the hardest thing for me. I live in a Spanish village and whilst I have used Synergy Spanish to understand a fair bit of what they say to me, but it is very difficult to reply! Thank you Marcus for your help with this. – Rosemary
I did this lesson last week with just the audio. To have the video with the lesson makes it feel as though it is staying more in the mind.Thanks.
An excellent Idea Marus, it enables me to use the language as I learn.
As I’ve completed the Synergy Spanish course and listened to the audio files it feels like the next step in using the language which is what everyone is aiming for. Speaking the language has always been my goal and this, for me, seems like the next logical step.
I think having a basic grasp of the language is essential, although it will depend on the individual.
The trick is to read and listen and reply without translating first and I think this will teach me to do just that. I’m getting better everytime I run through the video. Just like having a conversation.
I agree with the other comments that this approach gives an added value, and is a great help in learning. Thank you.
Dear Marcus, this lesson is great and fits in very well with the Synergy Spanish course. The way you lay out the lessons are brilliant and so easy to use.
I enjoyed the combo of both visual & audio. It has been a while since my last practice but think its good to have the choice, challlange & change. Has got me all enthused again.
This is an excellent approach to learn Spanish. I like the repetition and it has improved my pronunciation by listening to the Spanish speaker. Thank you.
I like the repition and the fact that you can see the words. I think it would make it easier to learn.
I really liked it, it does help visually. I do think though that I would use it to reinforce the audio lesson because I usually listen to those in the car. Coming home to this sort of lesson would be ideal! Thanks so much Marcus.
For me, this was too much stimulation. I prefer to listen to the audio and concentrate on what is being said. I like the idea of the script, which as in past programs, did not talk, it was just a visual. Although this is a clever idea, too much was going on for me to really hone in on the concept (which I already understood from previous lessons).
Marcus, Thankyou for all the effort you put into educating those of us wanting to det fluent in this great romance language.
As a graduate of Synergy Spanish I believe we have a “Touchdown ” with this approach and I look forward to purchasing th future multipliers.
Gracias por su ayuda
I thought it was o.k. . I thought you were going to use actual actors like the “Destinos” . That would be best, to see people speaking and acting out what is being said. Simply reading along got boring fast.
I thought this lesson was very easy to understand and follow and it was good being able to see it at the same time.. Made it easy to understand the reflexive verbs. Thanks 🙂
I like it very much! – although I think It could be a bit better if you would leave a bit longer to formulate the response. Is this the format of your other lessons?
Me encanta, haz mas videos por favor. I love it. Make more videos please.
Very easy to understand. I like the visual with the audio and the pause is just enough to get my thought together. You really helped a lot with the reflexive verbs. This I struggle with. Thank you.
This format is really helpful to me! Thank you so much for sharing it. I look forward to additional lessons presented in this way. I have really learned so much from studying Spanish through your on-line classes, and this will make progress even easier for me. I know that I rely on visual cues to really comprehend the material presented, and because I have a slight hearing loss sometimes just the spoken word isn’t clear to me. Seeing the Spanish presented in written form after I have heard it spoken really “nails” it for me and it is so much easier for me to remember new vocabulary as well as gramatical construction.
Marcus, you are a gifted teacher and I am so grateful to have studied with you for several years now and plan to continue indefinitely! Gracias, gracias, garcias!
I liked the new method. For me to be able to hear and see the words is a plus. Thank you.
I think it could be better if you have an acutal picture of the action to go along with the word. This will form two pictures in your mind when learning. I think it would help to associate the action with the written word.
Hi . It makes the lesson easier. I’m not sure if that’s good. I don’t have to think so hard, so I don’t know if I’ll remember it as well.
I like this mothod very much. It allows hearing and reading the phrase as well as speaking. The repetition allows the student to correct his/her pronounciation after listening to the natve speaker. Also, many languages are first learned by repeating sentences. I would be fine if I can get my toung to act right. Also, could there be a bit more time for me to collect my thoughts before the speaker gives the answer? I love what you are doing..
It’s very good and I liked it a lot. However, is it possible to see the speakers’ faces? Sometimes I lip-read a little bit. By the way, I can’t place your accent. Are you an Australian?
Marcus Reply:September 18th, 2012 at 8:27 pm
Yes, I am from Downunder.
I think it’s great, Marcus. Effectiveness seems unquestionable. Can’t imagine why combining audio with visual wouldn’t expedite learning.
I liked it and said so but have thougt about it all afternoon, and decided to tell you yet again, I REALLY like the method/format. The visual is easier to rea because it’s larger, the color is attention grabbing, and the enunciation is great. I know it would be a lot of work, but would like to have the entire program ths way.
I like you approach to Spanish and howw it helps us thinking in spanish. I like the practice in this one too. However, for me I prefer my Spanish practice to be geared to one living in a Spanish community rather than as a tourist and the lingo required as a tourist. I love how your teaching method helps pronunciation, speaking and understanding what I hear, as well as the written word
I like this because the image of the word or phrase comes to mind automatically when I hear or use the word. Not only does it help with remembering the word, but it also will help with being able to write it down, which I know I’ll need to do, at some point. The audio and visual are doubly effective.
it’s good to have the text up there whilst you speak. So you practise reading and speaking at the same time. it’a a little easier than just audio alone, but it helps with the spelling of words as when i listen on my ipod to just the audio, i am not improving my spelling per say. The i-pod however is so portable and this is 90% of my studying time with your classes. Either when driving or walking or execising, but i rarely get to much time in the day or night to do a spanish class. so a deivce that is portable and i can read the screen as well… ummm. i-pad .
All of your spanish classes have been very beneficial, however the only negative i feel sometimes is that i get so used to your class; you speaking in english a sentence that i then translate and speak into spanish. I do learn well this way, but when i try to ween myself off your class and into the real spanish world, it’s still a huge transition. To think in my head what needs to be said in response in a conversation in the real spanish world, i no longer have you to tell me what to say in english and then i have to translate and speak in spanish. I have to think what to say and speak it in spanish. i look forward to the day when i no longer translate from english to spanish, but just listen to , think and speak in spanish..!
definitely a winner! Makes it much easier and gets the point across immediately.
Fantastic really really good Marcus, easy to see read and understand then to hear the spanish pronunciation well it brings it all together
hi marcos this is a great idea you have my spanish going realy great just love everything you do cant wait till your next programme
I think this is great
Thank you once again Marcus. Your method is far and away the best I’ve seen. Everything you do flows so easily and makes it mush easier to learn. I do agree with another comment below me in that is difficult to understand what a Spanish speaker means sometimes. I understand the words they say but not the meaning behind them. That is where Spanish is so difficult for me. They say many things that just don’t make sent to an English speaker if translated directly into English in your mind. Thank you for explaining what they mean sometimes like the phrase “Tiene razon”. Never would have figured that one out on my own LOL
This is a great way to be able to make sure you are understanding and pronouncing the Spanish words correctly. Being able to see the spelling of the words is a big help to being able to pronounce them correctly. Great Idea!!!!
Great. Was not sure to begin with – the voice speaking Spanish, but after a bit, I’ve concluded that what you’ve put together is absolutely best instructional video I have ever seen/heard/repeated (I think I covered it all). I frequently have a prpoblem making out what I am hearing as clearly as I would like, but you and the speaker have it just “perfectly” – at least I think so. I’d even go so far as to rate this above my own idea as to the three best places in which to learn Spanish, although I think I have that quite well.
Keep up what you are doing. Would like to talk with you, and would love to know your background. I have an over abundance of curiousity but am sure it will temper when I get older.
Sr. Don Alejandro (any suggestions for a good latin surname? I want one that sounds good to my ear and is as much fun to say as is ‘Alejandro’ – sort of rolls around in the mouth.
This is the most beautiful way to learn reflexive verb, it is so simple and i understand it. You made the language fun and wanting to learn more.
This idea is a wonderful way to get over the difficultly of learning reflexive verbs. You made them very easy to comprehend. I enjoyed it immensely.
I really like learning spanish this way. I get to hear it and then see it written. It makes learning so much easier
I wholehearted agree that it helps to hear AND see the Spanish. I also think it helps to practice Spanish both ways: with and without the printed words. It would be nice to have it both ways and be able to choose the kind of practice we need most.
Hi, I enjoyed the lesson discussion format although I got tired of the “say” and found it just as easy to follow along without it. Also I liked the progression of sizes and colors of the dialog.
This is a really good way to match the spellings and pronunciation of words at the same time as practising the speech.
I do like the audio tapes for when I am not in front of a screen but this is another really good idea for when you have a screen available.
Many thanks for you super learning tools.
This is a winner. It is what I need to learn. I need to see what is being said, because I don´t always hear everything that is said expecially when there are words that I do not know.
Marcus, thank you for finally adding visual to the audio which increases my ability to learn.
Gracias Marcus, That is very helpful, simple and easy to learn.
Marcus,I love the way the words come on the screen love the two different colours.I have received many free lessions which I think has been fab.Your way of teaching is the best i have found.I wish i could keep a clear mind a little longer than I do.When I speak to my spanish friend she thinks I speak well,Its when we are out in the village i get that stumbling block where I may be taken by surprise and then the eh bit comes out.I get so cross with my self. When the conversation goes on it makes a difference its like your brain relaxes and words just flow out your mouth. But by far the worst bit is understanding the conversation i may know nearly ever word they speak but i just dont get what the hell they are on about,it is a bit different when you know what subject they are talking about you get the jest of it.I have bought several of your lessons they are great.Oh to understand the spanish,I seem to need to see the written word i then seem to hear it better. You have now done that in these lession.thank you, you are a great teacher.I know I need to listen much more.once again thank you please keep up the good work.
I like the format, but then I am a visual learner. Its usefulness depends on whether audio learners really hate it or not. I don’t see how it can hurt them, though. Let them close their eyes.
I really enjoyed it this way. The written reinforces the oral portion and is a good reminder for the spelling when you need to write Spanish, as well!! Bravo! Only thing is I like to review and repeat. How do we save the lessons on a mobile iPhone 4? Thanks
I liked this format. Ifind it easier to learn when I can both hear and see the lesson.
Having the text & audio together is really, really helpful. I found it enjoyable & motivating. Like Judy, I don’t do enough studying, but an approach like this makes me want to replay the video until I can use the Spanish without thinking, & hope for more like it.
I thought this was terrific. I would like to learn more about it and how to get it.
I love the approach you have taken this time. The visual adds so much to the enjoyment of the lessons. I think you have a real winner here! Thanks for always coming up with ways to improve that are painless and condusive to the learning experience.
The extra written bit is helpful, Thanks.
¡Bravo! The addition of the screen prompts presets one’s mind for the word order. Great addition to a great program.
Gracias por invitarme.
¡Bravo! The addition of the screen prompts presets one’s mind for the word order. Great addition to a great program.
Gradias por invitarme.
My Internet connection must not be fast enough to play the video.
But it is a good idea.
Thank you for you continued effort and interest in us.
wonderful y facile Me gusta mucho Gracias
Thank you Marcus
As I am Flamish and i understand it this way better
Whaw man Spanish is so difficult
Marcus – I actually find it somewhat distracting. Instead of listening to what you are saying and focusing on the question, I find myself reading the text. When I listen to your lessons, many times its with my eyes closed which I find helps with eliminating distractions. I go back and read the text later and use it for a refresher —- I previously did the Rosetta Stone Spanish 1-5 series and found that useful because the pictures and text enhanced my basic understanding. Now, I am trying to become more fluid with the language — Thanks
Always good to get you bulletins and updates. I followed your Synergy Spanish Course and found it so useful. I have recommended it to others in my CroydonSpanish Intercambio. group here.
This presentation is definitely a helpful way of learning Spanish. It is an audio/visual lesson in one. It keeps you interested the whole way with immediate effect as it were. It is a marked improvement over just having the audio. I think it would be a good way to produce and present your future lessons.
By the way is there any way of getting a copy of your Shortcut to Spanish package on a budget income as a senior citizen?
Wishing you every success,
Marcus Reply:September 26th, 2012 at 10:44 pm
I keep the price as fair as I can. Occasionally we have a discount promotion, I’ll let you know if we have another one.
Thank you Marcus, as ever you are encouraging us to go on learning our Spanish, however, I have one BIG problem, I don’t get to practise my Spanish with real people often enough. I have done your Synergy Spanish course and can read and translate to that level very well BUT am dumbfounded when confronted with a native Spanish speaker.
Hi Marcus – I think your new format is a particularly good idea…especially for people who may not be familiar with the reflexive verbs.
Another point is, I used to have trouble with the Spanish enunciation of certain people. It is uncommon any more but when I was into your lessons for about a year and a half, I still often had to look at the script for your wife’s pronunciation and Jose Luis almost never. I just recently did a lesson and I couldn’t tell whether your wife sounded as though she was finishing the word with a “th.” So, having the printed script in front of one is a real bonus.
I’ve been with you for about 3 years. When I go to Costa Rica for dental and medical visits, “la gente” always comment on my excellent pronunciation and use of the language. I owe that all to you. My sincere thanks.
I especially like this course. Once again, you came up with an innovative approach to teaching Spanish. I particularly like having the audio and text together. I have used many of your courses and think they are the best. My only problem is that I don’t study enough! And that’s not your fault. After viewing the latest class, I am motivated to practice all afternoon. You really break down learning Spanish in the easiest way possible. This latest version also helps me with my accent.
Very helpfull and clearly presented. I like your style of af accentuating the conversational aspect and not getting bogged down in the academics of grammar, conjugations and the like.
I thought that was a very nice way to teach. I liked the way in which it was presented. It is nice to hear the pronunciation. But it is very helpful to see the text written along with the pronunciation. The pace was just right. The change in the voices speaking was a very good choice. It alters the hearing of it enough to grab your attention if your mind starts to wander a bit. Thank you for improving your already excellent method of teaching!
Have a great day,
thank you ,Marcus
I like very much to see, at the same time, that you said the sentence, because i am french it is easier to learn spanish .Like David said ,french to spanish ; would be .MARAVILLOSA ;; Valentine
I do like the idea, but have to say that my progress in Spanish has been down to being able to listen and learn on the move. I take a half hour walk every morning first thing, and at the same time I do my Spanish lessons. I would never have learned to much if I had to actually make time to sit down and read as well as listen.
Very good and far more interesting
The colours work well
Flashing of more important words could also help
Thanks for your efforts!
I like this format because it demands more of my attention. It’s also very helpful to see the Spanish words there on screen with their English counterparts. I have a slight word of caution though – I hardly ever listen to your work via the computer, it’s always been whilst I’m walking from A to B or on long car journeys. I doubt I’m unique in that sense so you might want to make sure it can still be downloaded to a CD or MP3.
Many thanks Marcus – keep up he good work.
GREAT.What will be the cost of the course.
Marcus Reply:September 18th, 2012 at 8:44 pm
After all this great feedback, I’ll definitely make my courses available in this format. I don’t know about the pricing though. I’ll have a better idea once I know all the costs from my side.
New students may be confused when you use “invitarme” as the “me” here is an indirect object pronoun.
I’m sending this to my Spanish students ( have 5 levels of adults) to see if they are confused by it.
Also, in part 2 do you include putting the reflexive pronoun before the conjugated verb? My students have trouble with remembering to say “Me levanto a las siete.” Putting the pronoun in front of a conjugated verb is weird, but that’s the way it’s done in Spanish.
Marcus Reply:September 22nd, 2012 at 5:05 pm
We start using the pronouns in front of conjugated verbs in Bola de Nieve. It’s not a textbook format though, I teach it in the context of real conversations so it feels very natural and easy.
Excellent lesson, really explains about reflexive verbs. Good to see the spelling of words as you pronounce them.
Very good however I would prefer a little more “thinking” time before the answer appears.
I could not get the sample video to open. However, I have a comment on your Spanish learning programs etc. I have a problem understanding the women speaking. It is probably their higher pitch for I don’t have the problem with a man’s voice.
This new approach with the video is fantastic for anybody who is a visual learner as I am.
The support with the written word allows for a mental imprint of the vocabulary.
I listen to your lessons on my MP3 player while I work so, for me, the transcriptions are not an improvement. For those who work through them at home though, it will enhance the lesson.
Well done as always and thank you.
I listen to your lessons on my MP3 player while I work so, for me, toe transcriptions are not an improvement. For those who work through them at home though, it will enhance the lesson.
Well done as always and thank you.
I love it! I like seeing the lesson while I’m listening so I can remember what the question is when I’m responding and see how the response is written as well as how it sounds!
I have over the past years recieved you e.mail information, with trials. I find this new one very helpful and easy to follow, the combination of the text shown
in English and Spanish on the screen is very good when you mother languaes is not English.
To keep it short – this time I am ready to buy!
Hi Marcus! I do like this Audio/ visual combination! I am a visual learner and so it is good to see and hear at the same time!
Much more effective I think!
I love the repetition and the audio/visual is a bonus. Great progression and helpful revision on sentence-construction.
I commend your development of vocabulary through naturally used conversations. The explanation of reflexive verbs and pronouns is ideal for all learners.
Always keen to see your latest ideas and to practise and improve my fluency.
Gracias 🙂 .
I find this very helpful to be able to view the audio and text whilst I speak.
Me gusta mucha la lección nueva. I think that seeing the dialogue is very helpful. I have nearly finished the Synergy course and hope soon to look at La Bola Nieve. It has been very hot here in southern Spain this summer so I haven’t kept up with the lessons but I have stayed with my profesor here, complete with deberes. I also enjoy all the little in between lessons, just listened to Camas Gemelas.
Keep up the good work please.
Fine job, but I fine myself somewhat stuck at this level– I’m looking for something similar to SS I & II at a similar price. Thanks again for a great course. y.c. vogel
You have hit another winner. Thank you so much for making learning Spanish so much easier.
I guess I’m in the minority when I say I’m a bit ambivalent about the video. I like some parts very much – it’s really helpful to see the new Spanish word as I hear the pronunciation, and the different colours also help a lot. But I found myself too distracted by all the English words on the screen – instead of thinking about the Spanish, my mind was occupied in reading the English! 🙂 I ended up by closing my eyes halfway through and found I could concentrate better.
Perhaps this is just because the Synergy Spanish course accustomed me to this method. There, I first read the lesson and then listened to the audio. That really worked well for me.
So, although I am a very visual learner and definitely like to have the visual cues, para mi el audio y el PDF son suficientes.
Marcus, I absolutely love your teaching! I like the sly touches of humour, the learning progression es excelente, the empowerment es fantastico, and best of all, I am retaining what I learn – even though I have no one to practice with. It also helps that el precio es económico. Muchas, muchas gracias a usted.
Wonderful format and really professional looking and most importantly makes it easier to remember, thank you Marcus.
What a great idea, the new video style is excellent and a vast improvement on what was also very good.
Adding the visual and transcript has made all the difference, I’m looking forward to the next lesson.
New method very good. Much easier with visual translation.

Marcus, You are on to a winner. The lesson really came to life and having the text and audio together made the lesson so enjoyable. It must be so much work for you all to produce it in this format but, I think, would be so beneficial for all your students of Spanish. Pity you can’t branch out into other languages such as French!
Thanks Marcus for further enhancing your great Spanish course. The video, audio and text elements help to reinforce the lessons. Your course has really unlocked Spanish for me. Muchisimas gracias.
Your methed is brilient. My problem is cant get enough time bbbbbbut love to learn ASAP.I know you try very hard to teach me.i bought business in spain already, have to learn now. Thanks MARCOS well done.
Much easier to understand when you can visualize the pronunciation
Hola Marcus, muchas gracias por todo, soy estudiante de “bola de nieve” y debo decirte que tus lecciones son los mejores, y ahora esta forma es especial, podemos ver y escuchar, bien hecho, tu eres el mejor profesor de español y no estoy bromeando, es la verdad, puedo escribir esto porque de tus lecciones.
Dois te bendiga.
Marcus Reply:September 22nd, 2012 at 5:38 pm
felicidades y gracias.
I really like this format! This will eliminate the necessity to print out each lesson prior to listening and practising with the audio tape. I don’t need the expense and clutter of the exyra paper.
Using eyes and ears simultaneously,is a big improvement and enhances the learning process.
well thought out Marcus
Interesting I liked it
Hola, Marcus. I think that it depends on the individual. When I first started your courses, I found that I needed to have the transcript to go with the audio. The audio was not enough. The best way for me to learn is to read your Action Guide, then the audio and finally the transcript of the audio. I think your video is the icing on the cake. To me it is the way to revise a lesson – audio and transcript together.
Finally, thanks for producing fantastic courses and course material. Whenever, the opportunity arises, I recommend you to others wanting to learn real Spanish. I struggled for three years before finding you on the internet – one of my most rewarding surfs.
YES, YES This is Great. I loved Synergy Spanish 1 and 2 but never liked the audio on computer and the written on paper. And when I travel or am in Spain hate lugging all those pages. The new format gives me visual for the audio and I know I am a visual learner. Woulds I buy it .. yes assuming it is not Rosetta Stone priced. Would I buy Synergy Spanish one and two in this format even though I have it on computer?. YES!!!! I’d still like the ability to print or better have a handbook.
FAR AS I’M concerned this new format will meet many of my needs. I am still learning Spanish at 74 years of age… but I am progressing thanks to you.
I like the time lag on these, gives time to think without need to rush to beat the Spanish speaker.
That is a great idea – much easier to visualise the words if you can see them and not be guessing what they look like from the audio only. Well done Marcos and Gracias.
i think it is a great improvement, possible due to the choice of colours with the text
a. I like the format: explanation, voices (English and Spanish), words (different colors, large type).
b. I like the direct access to lesson from URL; did not have to search through pages.
c. I like the speed of speach; but I have an ear for Spanish Languge.
d. The added visualization definitely is advantage; it kept my attention; sending it to my granddaughter for her comments. She is a universitry student learning Spanish.
Great lesson. I think a pause button would be helpful.
Marcus Reply:September 22nd, 2012 at 4:56 pm
Just click on the video to pause it.
Me gusto mucho. Es muy fácil
I LOVE IT!
I like this, Marcus. I would be interested in following up with the course.
I like this better than just the audio.
It’s a great idea! I think that it will be good to help people learn the words, how to spell them, how to pronounce them, how to write them and remember them.
Thanks, Marcus, for inviting me to see and listen your new improvement to the lessons.
This way we can utilize also our eyes and not only ears in the learning process. This is almost like karaoke. Maybe next improvement will be more karaoke-style text visualising.
Also there could be a bar showing how much time I have left to say my sentence before I’ll hear the correct answer. Of course those were only suggestions, nothing more. I’m very pleased to this progress already. You have done very good work!
Re. My comment 6 days ago on “Hard Spanish made easy” to continue from there. I was told never to get stuck on a word I did not know or had not heard properly because I would miss the rest of the sentence.
Your video solves that problem. I can listen, I can watch or I can do both. This is used on “Menuda Noche which is a Spanish TV programme on Andalucia TV, Canal Sur, Viernes, 1930 GMT, the clocks alter next month (http://www.tvgratis.tv/, Internet or satellite). It is dominated by children but has showbiz adults who answer questions and sing and dance with the children. Very rough translation is “Kids showing off night”.
When a very young child 4 or under sings, the words appear as subtitles.
Some of the children carry on and become professional, Maria Carrasco for example.
“Juan y Medio” is the presenter, any ideas as to how he got his name?
The feeling is the same as your lessons., we are all friends.
Noticias can be very helpful because the news may be similar to the news we have seen in English so, with background knowledge; we know what is being talked about.
Where to next? A story, using scenes and subtitles, to show the use of the language in various circumstances?
Muy complicado, pero possible.
Hola Sr Santamaria,
Me gusta y no gusta.
En total los ayudara en gran medida a la comprensión, sin embargo, es difícil no leer el texto al mismo tiempo. Entonces yo pierdo un poco mi concentración, necesito leer el texto en lugar de concentrarse en la comprensión.
Un texto mas despacio problablemente tal vez puede ayudar ?
Gracias para la oportunidad.
Much, much better and easier to understand. It is easier for those us who find it easier to remember when we see the written word. Sometimes I have to repeat my listening several times to be able to work out what has been said. The problem is solved when you can see the written word as well.
MUCH EAISER TO UNDERSATAND WHEN I COULD SEE THE WORDS AND THE EXPLANTATION SPOKEN AT THE SAME TIME. SEE IMPROVEMENT QUICKER.
Hi Marcus…….I think it is great because up to now I have been learning you’re lessons with the audio only and sometimes it is hard to hear the way some words are said. With this new visualization of the words, it totally clears thing up.
I loved it’s simplicity. A winning formulae for me.
Gracias Marcus this is vary helpful.
Hola Marcus, Although I have passed “Bola De Nieve” course, I always found the reflexive verbs very confusing, especially when translating from English to Spanish. Since I am fluent in French, I got into the habit of translating from English to French and then to Spanish! I wish I had your litle video 6 months ago. Pero ahora todo es claro. Something clicked into my brain and I thank you for that.
I agree with the comments made by Vivienne and Martin. Muchas Gracias. Danielle.
Good Morning, i like the audio and visual together. I t seems easier to remember when you see it as you hear it. It also helps me to read and write in Spanish.
A very nice and easy to understand method for learning, especially for the older student!
Thank you Marcus this is GREAT . I will sign up for your bola course as soon as I have the money . I love your course . I have bought three now. and all were great. Informal 1&2 and one other.Ifound this course much easer to remember than the rest because of the visual . thanks again .
I listened to this 3 ways:
1) Just the audio; 2) Audio in background with your original transription on screen; 3) This latest release.
This is far superior to just the audio portion! Now you are a true competitor with the US Institiute of Languages. This is great news for your followers.
I really liked seeing the words on the screen as I practiced. I wear hearing aids and sometimes it’s difficult for me to distinguish what the Spanish speaker is saying. I have just purchased your Synergy Spanish. I guess it will be a good review for me, although your sample lesson was not difficult.
Thanks for showing this new idea.
Quite a smart way to get going with ‘se’. How about the ways to use ‘el que’, ‘el cual’…..
The new video style is good as it also calls for visual memory, a plus in the memorisation of the language.
Congratulations once more for your course which is the only one that permitted me to learn Spanish easily, with fun and pleasure. Through your lessons we get to know the language without difficulty; only thing now is to manage understanding my Mexican family without asking them to speak slower…
This works really well for me as it combines reading, listening and speaking – perfect combination for learning. Thanks.
I like this kind of format becuse I like to see the Spanish word written, it helps me to read and see how to pronunce and remember how it is spelt.
Terrific improvement!! Much better comprehension with being able to see the words while you speak.Looking forward to more lessons like this one, they are a great confidence booster. Thanks again Marcus.
Me gusta mucho. Ahora me levanto temprano
I already love your teaching method Marcus, it works for me. I have completed Synergy Spanish and shortcut to Spanish and have recently started your Bola de nieve course which I am enjoying ~ however I believe this new system would make it even easier to learn/remember.
Thanks for sharing it.
Hi Marcus, although it’s an old lesson, I like the new video style very much!! It makes it easier to remember! 🙂
That was really excellent. It covered everything that a student would need. Thank you very much. Keep going.
I like it Marcus, but I am comfortable with listening to your audio lessons, mostly on my Ipod because I can listen when I’m exercising, or working around the house and garden – and I use the audio lessons in conjunction with the transcripts whilst doing the exercises – at times when I prefer to sit down for a while.
I think the video is good, especially for people who cannot ‘see’ the words, or who are not sufficiently familiar with the pronunciation of spanish. But it’s not for me because it would limit my learning time – I would have to be static either on a laptop, Ipad or desktop PC. and I prefer to move around.
I love your methods and recommend you to other friends here in Spain. Thank you Maureen
This was great, with the visual words added, it really reinforces the lesson. I’ve often pictured the words when using the audio lessons so this was helpful. As usual, you’re showing just how good and progressive a teacher you are. Muchisimas gracias!
Thank you so much for the written text to go with your audio lesson. PLEASE, Marcus, give us a Part 2 of Synergy Spanish, with a text book like in Synergy Spanish 1. I loved learning that way and learned more than I have from the Rosetta Stone. Thank you soooo much.
Marcus Reply:September 22nd, 2012 at 2:19 am
Bola de Nieve follows on sequentially form Synergy Spanish. As well as audio it too has written Action Guides in the same format as in Synergy Spanish.
Thanks – I found this to be much better – seeing the words as well as hearing them really helps.
Way to go Marcus.Gracias
Marcus – excellent, well done!!!
I like this new format very much. It is great for me because I can see, hear and read all at the same time. Also Marcus it really helps with remembering visually where “accents” belong. I agree that it is a significant improvement to aid faster learning.
Thank you very much. Vivienne
the way you put across a method of easily understanding reflective verbs also liked the on screen titles which allows you to see correct spelling on first introduction to new verbs ,i dont know if it was intentional but i couldnt find a pause control(not being very good with pcs ) and this made me interact faster which on occasions can be a good idea. The receipes some people will find them useful.I hope this input helps.Regards Bill
Good, but seemed a little long
it is easier to hear and see the words together. I have taken the other courses, but this is the best so far. Keep up the good work. I have sent you many new customers.
I liked your Spanish learning video. You plan to have other Spanish video lessons in the future?
Marcus Reply:September 22nd, 2012 at 2:03 am
Yes, there will be more.
A great improvement in teaching . It is so much easier to understand and speak the language through this method. Great Job Marcus
Yes, this is great. I am glad I can still stop the lesson to think when necessary before hearing and seeing the correct response!
The video requires setting in front of a computer. That gets old-studing for hours on a computer. Thats like Rosetta Stone, which I completed, and didn’t like being reguired to be in front of the monitor.
Good Marcus, I have always found your method of teaching far better than anything else I have attempted, but this was even better. Because of my lack of ear training, I sometimes have difficulties picking up the ending of words even when they were spoken slowly (i.e was that an s on the end of that word or not) and had to concentrate on listening and not always repeating the sentences. Likewise, I have to make good use of the pause button, while my mind concentrates on what I have to repeat. But I found with this video, I could keep up even when the words were being spoken a little quicker and did not have to second guess some words that I was not familiar with. I think I could easily accelerate my lessons with this method. Great concept. congratulations.
It’s great to see your constant work Marcus, incorporating different and better ways of learning Spanish language. Congratulations once again! Tthis new presentation way to make hard Spanish easier should be welcomed by all Spanish language learners. Keep it up, JCP
It really helps to see what you’re hearing. Muchas gracias. Andrew
Very beneficial to have text appear! I closed my eyes to listen intently and think, only opening them if I had an issue with the answer. Obviously seeing the spelling of an unclear word and the accent marks is very helpful. Great addition. Thank you.
Marcus, I like this but have one suggestion. Your current lessons have a small bar which allows one to stop and / or drag the bar back and forth in order to review a phrase as many times as necessary in order to remember the content. I find this bar to be extremely beneficial because I can review something as many times as necessary in order to digest it properly. My suggestion is that the same, simple bar be included as a part of your new format. FYI, I am soon to be 74 years young. I am an American legally living in Havana and thanks to your course, I am speaking more español daily. Your course is the best I have ever encountered and I applaud you for your efforts in continuing to make improvements. Thank ya Mate and hav a g’day.
As with all your coures it is very very good.My problem is remembering as i am 70 and do not have a lot of practice but these coures are the best i have found and easy to understand.
excellent lesson! i’m a second generation Mexican-American. growing up, my parents spoke spanish and i replied in english. the spanish that was spoken was “slang”, so learning proper spanish this way is so helpful. seeing, hearing, and repeating is really helpful for me to relearn the language. thank you, Marcus!
Hi Marcus, Although I’m still working my way through Synergy Spanish I tried the video lesson. I liked the combination of seeing the spanish and hearing the words spoken. I look forward to learning the next level this way. Thanks John
Excellent. The visual helps a lot.
Thank you. That was a helpful mix of information. Visualizing what I hear generally helps me learn at a faster pace. Thank you again.
I think your new format of Spanish lesson is great. It is an improvement for faster learning. This method works well for me. Seeing , hearing and learning to read and speak at the same time. Thank you , Ferdinand
Great almost got all correcto
Thanks yet again for another great lesson. For me, it really helps to have the visual input. Suddenly things are becoming clearer!
Please refer to Brenda’s comments as of 7 hours ago. I agree with what she wrote. I print out the PDF files so that I can go through the lesson and exercises before I use my ipod for the audio. I use the audio on the go a lot and do not have time to sit for long in front of a computer. Although I think the new way of presentation is excellent for some lessons especially with Reflexive Verbs! I am not sure it would work overall. Its the understanding of the spoken word that I find the most difficult. Once I have read the script and then play the audio several times I find that my understanding is getting better by the day.
I started learning Spanish with you in January and reckon that I know more Spanish now than all the years that I have tried to learn French!! It is a really good course and I am so glad that I found you on the Internet. Thankyou.
Very good, i am always having trouble with my printer so to see and hear at the same time is very helpful, gracias, i have completed the synergy spanish but alas have forgotten a lot due to family visits etc and lack of time, i am going to go over the whole course again and hopefully it will come back to me, but congratlations on you easy to follow method, keep up the good work. Best regards josie.
I do think that to have both the written and spoken versions together is a good thing. To hear a particular word as well as to see it written ensures that the word is also engraved on one´s memory. It helps too, with writing Spanish as well as recognizing a word, in say for example a newspaper.
Excellent marriage of video and audio when unsure of spelling and pronunciation. This especially would help with the Spanish Ear Training Course where the dialogue is very fast and you have to refer to the transcript. For most other courses, I found the audio sufficient, as I often listen to them when exercising or walking about. The only caution is training the mind to “see the words” when you speak instead of naturally saying them. I find myself doing that sometimes when using some verb conjugations.
Overall, a excellent improvement to your excellent courses (and I’ve bought most of them).
Marcus, an extremely efficient way of learning, with all senses stimulated at once. The explanation of regular use, and the easier way to understand the more complex use was very enlightening, and clarified a few of my own misconceptions. The way in which you build-up sentences is great, especally with the use of repetition as an enforcer. Good to see you continually changing the format to suit different learning techniques.
Marcus I think the visual and audio component make it easier to remember the lesson. Thank you and please continue with your exploration of teaching methods.
I am French Canadian (golden age). I finished Sinergy Spanish and I am in the middle of Bola de Nueve. I am not to consistent but one day I will finish and go to the next level.
Your courses are the only one that worked with me.
The things I rely like about your courses is that I can listen to them when I cook, relaxing on the sofa, drive or even exercise. I can bring them with me anywhere on my IPud, IPad, on a CD….
Basically I can use them with every devices and do something else in the same time.
But…for those who are visual, stop, sit, and only take the course, it is fantastic, because they can see the word, the spelling. Comprehension is better. Me I would need both format of the course.
Thank you so much Marcus for all the passion that you put on your work for us.
Works for me Marcus. Over time it should help improve recall. Partiularly usefull in clearly understanding the spanish word mentioned for the first time. You do good work!
Enjoyed the sampler. The visual certainly helps for me, almost like some sort of subliminal messaging going on. Think it would be very helpful and effective. Good stuff 🙂
Please don’t make the change. While this format does technically satisfy both the visual and auditory modalities, my issue is that periodically the video sticks and leaves me waiting and waiting and waiting for it to continue. When this happens mid-phrase it is especially annoying. I live in Latin America. There is no way I can upgrade my internet situation to fix this. I would personally prefer to receive the audios (which do not usually stick), and a transcript rather than a video. We still get both auditory and visual modalities. I probably won’t subscribe any longer if you change the format to video.
As to videos in general, I subscribe to a lot of sites that use them. Most would probably be surprised to learn that before they changed to video, I paid a lot more attention to what they had to say. I’m an old lady now, and I really haven’t either the time or the patience to spend 15 or more minutes of my life listening to to someone’s ego trip loving the sound of their own voice while simultaneously printing out what they say (after blanking the control buttons). I just click them off. I’m more likely to read what someone has to say because I have more control over what parts I can skip. Just an FYI for your future ads.
I prefer to see the words. It really helps.
At age 69 and having trouble with memory retention, I sure do like the multi-senses approach to learning. Thanks for all you are doing to make learning a new language easier.
Enjoyed this lesson. It helps to see the words. Can you tell me when Bola de nieve will start again .Thanks Red.
I am a big fan of multisensory learning. So often learning is at best bisenensory, which can exclude a fair section of the learners. Even wosre, it can strengthen the in,orrect feeling of not being a good learner in those who don‘t happen to have the offered style.all too often the teacher usez their prefred styleafter all it was sucesful for them, wasn’t it?i think this is a relly good development of an already good teaching approach. If it could have some very abstract vraphic and photos to further reenforce the visual learning it would be even better. However some learners can e overwhemed with too much graphical simulus, so its bets if the vraphics can be made optional. Keep up thegood work
Markus, I find this form of your lessons absolutely fantastic! Thank you for always looking for the best way to teach us the Spanish language. You are the best!
I am not very good when it comes to learning by ear alone. i have to be able to picture words spelled out. Because I don’t trust my ear, when there is audio only I get anxious that I’ll forget the words quickly. My practice with Synergy Spanish has always been to study the printed lessons and exercises before listening to the audio. The method you’re proposing here allows me to do both simultaneously. I feel somewhat more involved in the lesson. I think you’re on to something with this method.
This was an excellent lesson. Excellente!!
Hola Marcus, thank you for asking me to evaluate this new presentation.
Well I think it is a good way to visualize the writings as well. On the other hand, it seems for me to focus more on the oral aspect without the video. It is just my 1st impression !
Anyway the formula is great !
Bravo Marcus !
I found the video very good although I missed the cue a couple of times before the reply was shown.
I like this approach and I would be interested in seeing more…
I like seeing the Spanish words for many of the same reasons listed below, but not having to read all the script. When explaining something….that’s fine, but since I read slowly, the answers were popping up before I had finished reading them in the repetition area. A happy medium would be preferred. I’ll try to come up with a sample of what I mean and send it to you. Great step in the right direction though.
Thanks for your wonderful courses!
i like it very much its a big help , i understood everything, here in murcia spain they speak very bad spanish and many times i have to guess what the are saying, i would be intersted in buying the course if it is available gracias
I had done this lesson previously and found it good on its own. I can see how some would like the written word. However, maybe the English makes it too easy and takes some of the thinking out of it and so, less effective.
Thank you very much for sending me this lesson to comment.
It is wonderfull, the way you are trying people to learn Spanish
WITH GREAT SUCCESS! and very helpfull!
As you know I am Dutch but most of the time
I know just enough about English; so I can understand your lesson very well.
You are explaining very clearly how to use “me” “se” et cetera.
Thank you very, very much.
most useful and very clear Thank you
I am a very visual person. I like seeing as well as hearing. This new way of presentation allows one to learn to speak and read at the same time. This would be my very favourite way to learn. I am also old enough to have started having trouble hearing high frequency sounds. This method clarifies for me what I have just heard. Thanks you for asking for my input.
I do like this format. it helps confirm You are hearing the correct pronunciation which can be a concern. Not always sure if hearing b or v for example. Would make synergy Spanish move from excellent to off the planet. I realise it would be a lot of work but I hope it can be done.
I would not hold off introducing it until every lesson is covered. I for one would would appreciate it even if it was rolled out as and when the lessons were updated and available.
Marcus Reply:September 20th, 2012 at 11:07 pm
Thanks for your comment, that might be a good way to roll it out.
Hi Marcus, thank you for the video, this will help people to have the desire to start reading in spanish and not only hearing the audio. i have your synergyspanish course, which is great.
I live in Gran Canaria, Spain, and they speak very quickly, and shorten a lot of the words.
So if you can understand Canarian Spanish, then with your technique, i will have a global understanding of the spanish speaking world. kind regards, stuart.
This method of learning is just perfect for me. I have the type of memory that needs to see the written word at the same time as hearing it, that’s why I have always had difficulty learning from simply trying to converse in spanish – I’m always wondering how I would spell any new words I come across. I also helps with pronouncing and reading spanish. Muchisimas gracias Marcos.
I like it.
It is good to read the words as you hear the words.
I personnaly learn faster this way. Also you can check to confirm what you actually heard to ensure you understood the spoken word or phrase correctly
I have tried to learn this way using the transcripts from Short Cut To Spanish and more recently with Synergy Spanish. The only problem is that you tend to have multiple pages open or printed to view at the same time which becomes cumbersome and at times distracts from the lesson. This new method puts it all together on the screen at the same time for improved comprehension.
It is a pity the new style was not available when I purchased the 2 courses. It would make my learning easier plus would also assist refreshing the lessons learnt. If the new ones are available, love to get a copy.
Fantastico! Me gusta mucho.
Very effective and well put together. Thank you very much. Will this be done so we can download for IPOD use please?
This is a new approach which for me has made learning for me much easier. Thank you.
Marcus thank you so much for the video. I bow down to your excellence.
Absolutely fantastic! It makes it so much easier to understand when you can see the words when you are first learning the language. I have been struggling with this particular part of spanish.
You are unique in your teaching. Thank you once again.
I’m used to your normal method of teaching this aspect of Spanish and I get on well with it. I think this would be a very good “insert” into your course to deal with a difficult subject (and the same would apply for any other difficult subject.) The different colours are also very helpful.
Thanks Marcus. A useful addition to your excellent teachings. I do most of my listening in the car so the video won’t be something I would use regularly but for new words it certainly helps build up the mental map of sound and word (correctly spelled!)
I like your new lessons. Before, I sometimes had to stop the lesson to check the transcript when I couldn’t understand exactly what Jose Louis said.I’m glad you waited until Elena or Jose spoke before the text was presented.I think you will help your students learn much faster.
Me gusta mucho! I am a visual person so it was much easier for me to try to say it and then to have the words pop up right in front of me (but not be able to look at the answer before trying to say it.) Perfect!!!
Marcus, this program is an evolution to the current one. Why? Because it is combining AUDIO & VIDEO. Much more productive in the learn process.
Thanks for inviting me to comment on the video.I think its a great piece of work,i particularly like the use of the different colours as they highlight the different points that you are making and makes studying a lot easier. All the best for now.
This is an excellent lesson.
I am having touble with when to use que, cual, cuales, la que, el que etc. Is there a hard and fast rule with these pronouns and do any of your lessons teach this?
Also the lo, la, le etc is difficult when used in the reflexive. I’m not sure which of your lessons to buy.
Thank you for your amaziing tecnique for learning Spanish.this is perfect for me
Thank you for your courses on internett. I have been taken them for a long time now. The best thing is that you repete the sentences often without it become boring. You do that with to change a little on the settings so the listeners must change something. In that way the students must staying alert all the time. And also you have some dry english humor that make me smile now and then.
I also like that it feels personal. You take examples from your life. I bet that you yourselt have changed your diet.
As I said I like your courses as they are. Whats new with this example is that you read the spanish text in red. Thats good. I think that the red colour make a deeper inpact in the brain. Also is the layout more clean. That is also good. You concentrate on what is important. You hear the spanish words in the earphones and se the written words on the screen. I think this changes can do a good product still better.
Ulf Wamming ( wolf)
I am very glad you want to help me with my Spanish studies. You are a very committed teacher
but I am probably not a committed student. I have my own pace of work and am not able to study under any pressure whatever would be the reason.
I understand that our aquaintance is without obligations.
Thank you very much and wish you successes but without much help from my side /at least now/.
I found this extremely helpful with the written Spanish and the audio and would think that
others, where English is not their first language, would find it even more helpful.
Your voice is very clear on the the audio and this helps tremendously.
Thank you Marcus for your continued help in finding new ways for easier learning.
I used to miss so much which I now get with written confirmation of what is said. This is particularly the case because I am very deaf.
Great, well done
I want to learn Spanish as my wife is Ecuadorian and we be moving to Ecuador in the next twelve months. Although I understand quite a lot of Spanish, I am not yet at the place of putting a sentence together and find it frustrating at times. Having watched and listened to this exercise, I found it very easy to understand. Very helpful, thank you.
hola marcus, i enjoyed your video like i enjoy all your emails to me, i have learnt a lot more watching and listening to you,
Brill Marcus,very helpful.
This is a very good way of absorbing information as concentration levels are higher it makes sure that most of your senses are working, and destractions are kept to a minimum. It would have been beneficial to me for my synergy spanish as i failed to get passed lesson 20 sucessfully. Will you be adding this format to the synergy spanish ? ….. Bob lewis
Marcus, very good method as it concentrates the mind. I think the speed was about right for these short sentences. Well done
Yes much easier to understand for me. I got on much better with StoS Level 1 with the written exercises before the spoken than when I did the Informal Spanish conversation course. Please add the written word to this ASAP
Marcus: For me, either system would be good. I’m used to the method you currently use but what you are demonstrating would be good also. This could appeal to many people because of the larger lettering.
Marcus, I found the video most helpful and enjoyable. The way you help to drill the language is extremely helpful!!
Thanks to you, I am really enjoying and progressing well with the lessons in Synergy Spanish.
Ever grateful to you.
I love your teaching method Marcus, It seems to suit my way of learning Spanish the best. More importantly I remember it, I think the combination of spoken, written and repeated Spanish helps the information to ‘stick’ in my mind.
I like the new format of this video which incorporates colour and moving slides rather than a plain transcript as before. Thanks for this.
It is really good I would like to see more of this. Well done.
great by seeining and hearing both launguages have become easier to understand i am dutch and have a lot to thnk about what exactly its meant and this is much easier thankyou fore sending me this
Great improvement even though I enjoyed very much the ‘old’ lessons so far. The new way is much more effective.
I think its Great I like it very much
Well done a few more samples would be much appreciated
The new videos are much better than just listening to the audio.
I pliked this approach to learning as you correctly pointed out that it embraces all the senses and not just audio.
I know it most be more time consuming but I think it is best way to go and will gain you much more students.
Also will attract Spanish speakers who want to use and learn English you have tapped into a new market.
Best of Luck
Extremely helpful, thank you very much, your method is excellent.
Mark, I really like this format. It causes me to think quickly and I learn a lot by sight and listening along with the quick thinking. I think this will cause me to learn to reply quicker without having to think first. Will these also play without the video if I want to list in the car if I am on the go? Thank you for always being tuned in to the needs of us English speakers learning Spanish.
Like all your offerings this is simply excellent.
I bought your synergy Spanish and shortcut too. Have been going through them when time permits (mother of two dad pilot away a lot!).
I have done lessons over the years in Dubai, pimsleur and linguaphone all talk, summers in Costa del sol, now we live in Mallorca, baleares. Found the normal lessons intense and time consuming, teachers moved on. Pimsleur and linguaphone OK helped but not enough, maybe me. Have Spanish friends helping, chat to all I can. Find It hard to remember verbs words order etc, quick enough.
Tengo 50 años!!
I’m telling you the above to show where I may be. And to thank you for your wonderful methods, I’m more confident in forming sentences, its finding the time in a busy routine, mostly I have the MP3 on through blue tooth in my car. Only because of time as I love to hear, see and write this wonderful language.
This method you now have is fabulous for the reflexive verb, have to say I need to learn and remember more verbs, but this makes so much sense of a difficult verb, I will be more able to undstand and use them.
I do love the three senses. That too for me is a big bonus. Once I’ve completed your first two courses I will be looking at more. Keep doing a Fab job.
One small thing that would help me tremendously, is the Spanish versions, because I live in Spain not Mexico etc. Many Times I’m unsure where or how to change. Usted. Let alone others.
Still very grateful, your method is So Very Good
Much better than the standard audio lessons. I found it a big help to see the written word as it was being spoken. It clarifies spelling and accents in an instant.
Hi Marcus, great video, seeing the words as you speak is a great help to me,thank you,Dews Reid
Seeing the words and hearing the pronunciation together is very effective, great!
This is an improvement on simple audio and separate text. Great for use with those little MP4 players when you are out and about and want to cram in some Spanish. The visual aspect can be optional according to your circumstances and it is especially good for checking the spelling of unusual or difficult words.
It is not a leap forward in technical terms ie it could be said it’s a poor use of video function, but I don’t see any value at this time of ‘seeing’ more than simple text. Having said that, for conversational Spanish ‘seeing’ two or more people talking adds such a great deal more than just ‘hearing’ simple audio and ‘viewing’ the associated text.
Well done Marcus. Muchisimo gracias.
I am English but live in Spain. I have bought your course and follow your blogs but I and my wife love this version. I have two English children in school here in Spain 9 age 11-14) and this video lesson is perfect for reinforcing their learning
Marcus, This is excellent as those of us who learn visually and often “cry out” to know how a word is spelled can see it immediately.
it was good to use the “reflexive Verbs Made Easy ” section of Synergy Spanish as I remember it well.
I am now trying to “brush up” on my French for a trip to France, but have not found a course that is as user friendly as yours….
I did French at school, a long time ago, but remember most of it. It has helped me with Spanish, of course, and somehow I keep them separated in my head, even though they are very similar.
I think you have a real gift for the “Teach Yourself” market.
ROB HOLLAND, SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA
I have been through Synergy Spanish which I found a very helpful start. What I noticed with your series on suenos was that reading the PDF files as I did them, did not help me to remember the words. In fact having been through them once, I know I’ve already forgotton the words for light and heavy and some others but in Synergy the imprint on my mind was more thorough. I don’t know if that’s because of the way I learn, but the most difficult part of Spanish for me is listening to native speakers at full speed and picking out the words I know and instantly understanding them. Again with this lesson, I had already been through it and I understand reflexive verbs but the visuals did not help me
excellent combination, this is a real winner for me, Languages are so difficult for me due to being dyslexic but your method makes the process so much easier although still a challenge. Thanks Marcus
Marcus Reply:September 20th, 2012 at 8:38 pm
I too am dyslexic. There’s no reason at all for it to stop you from learning Spanish.
Great video! Now add the cartoons: a party hat for the fiesta, a bed for “levantarse,” maybe some sneakers for “irse.” And of course, for the narrator, a talking chicken!
this will help me with my spanish much more than just reading it please can we have it asap
Marcus – you have raised the method of teaching Spanish to a new high. Felicitaciones !
Love it. I am quite deaf and whilst I can read Spanish (slowly) I have difficulty hearing it. Also, there are often problems downloading your transcripts, so combined visual and audio is just the thing for me
Excellent. It makes it much easier to see the written word and listen at the same time, without losing the opportunity to try to do it yourself first!!
this is a great improvement, pero como yo escucho tus lecciones cuando me voy en bici al trabajo, las pusieron en mi ipod, personalmente no necesito ver las imagenes.
Pero creo que para la mayoridad des alumnos es super, y te ayuda a aprender no solo la pronunciocion pero la ortografia tambien!
Entonces te aconsejo de guardar tambien una opcion sin imagenes (a un preciso mas barato)
I found this video to be amazing. Much better for concenstration. Instead of wondering where to look and if I heard the word correctly when practising my Audio Senergy Spanish. With the Video I had no doubts. I could see the spelling in front of my eyes. I was reading listeing speaking and understanding. A million times better, than just Audio. Thank you for your amaziing tecnique for learning Spanish. I am just as good if not better than people learning Spanish for 20 years. I am only learning for 4 years and I am now 72. I also have a much better accent. Kind Regards, Mary.
hola marcus…. yes i like it……. but also like old format…… as with old format, can read, study at the pace that suits me more easy. plus with present format can find the material that you want to study quicker than a video. if honest prefer the snow ball course as it is. i can study the sentences at my pace.. repeat them at my pace. read your grammar rules at my pace. find what i want to work on easier. plus i can download the audios to my headphones to listen in park etc…. think old system is better.
read at my pace… with video cant read sentences at my pace and make sure i understand before moving on . harder to find things on a video type format.
Hi Marcus. Have not had time to go through it all yet, but it certainly seems to be an excellent sytem. I like it.
Great concept for lessons very easy to follow and nice to have the correct spelling in front of you. Well done, more please/
This is a really good lesson, thank you Marcus. I listened to the lesson previously when it was just in audio format & found it good but definitely not as easy to grasp. It is much better being ale to see the words written down as well. And I liked having different colours as well. I am generally quite good at languages so for me the pace was fine, but I think it may have been a little fast for people who struggle with languages, or find Spanish particularly difficult.
I love it! It is much easier to follow and much more difficult for one’s attention to wander.
I llike this a lot, for me it’s a lot better than just audio. Maybe just slow it down a little?
nice format- works well
I enjoyed this, it’s helpful to practice
Much better. I like to see the Spanish words as it helps me to visualise the words and then helps with the pronunication when trying to communicate in Spanish.
I am about just over half way through Synergy Spanish and I liked this way of learning with the words on the screen. I found it made more sense to see the words as you spoke them, Very well done Chris.
Pienso que estas lecciones van a ayudar con la comprensión de los verbos reflexivos
Marcus Fantastic, after trying 100’s of different ways to learn to speak Spanish I have found this the most useful .I do hope you have a course of these videos coming out soon. I will be rushing to buy them
Hi Marcus as usual you have made the lesson interactive and interesting. I have tried many method of learing spanish from Rosetta Stone to BBC courses and many many other CDs and failed, and my spanish has only made progress since I started on your courses. I started with synergy Spanish and now am on Bola de nieve. I still have a long way to go but my spanish friends say they can hear the difference. I only wish my brain could absorb faster because I still haveto think before i speak but i will get there.
Keep up with the great courses me gusta como ensena.
Yes much easy to learn as I often have difficulty understanding what is being said in Spanish. This problem resolved with the addition of the written words. I also find learning easy with seeing rather than hearing.
Very helpful – the length is perfect for concentration.
It is helpful to have the video included as at times flicking between screens for transcripts can be difficult. This uses more senses to learn. It would be helpful to me if it moves on from earlier Synergy Spanish and Bole de Nieve and Spanish Ear training, or consolidates these.
Definitely easier to follow and also helps reading and spelling!!
Looking forward to more lessons in this style.
I listen to your lessons frequently.
although I found them so useful for beginners but it is not that useful for upper intermediate people.for example i have never found any lesson for subjuntives.it would be better if you provide the course for all levels.
many thanks for your efforts.
Hi, Thanks for this test lesson I really enjoyed it. It seems better with the text to read along with the voice.
video is an excellent addition to the audio lessons as nothing is lost in translation and it saves you checking words you thought you heard but weren’t sure about. Transcripts and audio all in one. Great.
I found this much easier to remember and good to see how the words were spelled thankyou
I found this very good and quite easy to follow. I prefer this kind of teaching. Thank you.
This was great . The small steps and repetition is perfect for my style of learning . Thankyou for including me .
Best ever. Even I will fix this tricky language
i enjoyed very much to see and listen to the video. it is very helpful to see and hear the words.
for some reason the sound level was low (maybe it is because of my computer sound system) and i had to put it at full volume which i could hear resonably.
thanks and best regards,
I think that is an excellent way to learn. For me it is always most difficult to actually hear the spoken word but this format of teaching incorporates the sight , sound and practice all at the same time.
I would like more time between hearing your request and hearing your answer so that I can get the mind in gear, but maybe that is just practice.
Thanks for developing this format.
I did find the rate a little fast, and could have had a little more time to respond, but this could be due to being dyslexic. I have been searching for something like this. Great…
One of the things I find frustrating in Spanish is to find a way to translate the different ways to use
our word “get”. A lot of times I can’t find the right verb to use in its place. This is the first time
using the reflexive verbs came so easy. The video actually made sense and was quite easy to understand. The written sentences shown were words and sentences one would actually say. At first I thought seeing the words written on the screen as you were saying them would not be helpful in learning. Yes, one usually reads the script and follows along with the audio portion of a lesson but by doing it this way, the way the lesson sentences were structured on the screen, I found myself remembering everything far quicker and easier. I think this is could be a great learning tool for beginners and intermediate students. With advanced students I would think seeing everything may be a detriment to being able to understand what one hears and then comprehend it. But I find that different techniques help with learning the language. Many lessons become boring or frustrating for individuals doing it the same old way.
Hey Marcus, am loving this new format. Well done.
Great! More please. I am still using all your other courses every night on headphones but seeing the words help my terrible memory. Lots more general conversation topics please, like this one.
I took up your Spanish lessons when I was interested in a Spanish woman. That interest has changed so the motivation and urgency in learning Spanish has faded but I have kept all your lessons as I think if I find the motivation and time to learn, your classes are the way to go. I also think this video is excellent, in fact on listening to it I feel I really need to start again. The voice and written word together are excellent. Here’s hoping this is the way you are going to go forward.
Excellent. Holds the attention much longer
I found the additional video very useful and does add to the whole learning experience and the beauty is you can chose whether to watch or not as the underlying method works well on it’s own
Visual and audio had more impact on me. I found my spelling of the spanish and my understanding was more effective and stuck for longer in my memory. As long as you can download to your ipod etc and play when I am walking the dogs or working in the garden as well as when you are sitting on the computer, ok some may have a tablet.
I agree with the previous comment. Adding the written text really helps to cement the new language.
It is very effective.Thank you
Unbeatable methodology, tutor Marcus!
As the lesson progressed i found that the Spansh started to sink in and make sence, with the constant repeating…
Definitely like this new format. The color contrast between English and Spanish with pause for practice is very helpful.
This is very cool, gives room to even know and be able to spell.
WOW! This is the missing link! Everything together: listen, read, think and speak! Just what the doctor ordered.
I can understand everything that is said now (not being an English native speaker). For me this is the perfect solution!
I hope this method will be available pronto with a reasonable price attached for current students!
Thank you só much!
(Ms) Gerry Cornelissen
This is very effective way of learning.
FANTASTIC!!! I am a visual learner, so the cohesion of using sight and sound is a winner for me. I downloaded the audio to my ipod but often times found myself flipping through the printed transcript to verify what I thought I heard. Although I like your new concept, it does restrict me a little bit to sitting down with a laptop to “watch” the visual as oppose to being able to “hear” the audio as I am jogging with my ipod. But I like having the option of being able to whichever is appropriate for the moment. Thanks for the added learning tool. Great idea.
Brilliant I love it when is it going to be released.
Marcus Reply:September 19th, 2012 at 10:51 pm
I’m not sure how long this will take to put into a full course. I’ll let you know shortly.
Brilliant! An easy way to learn.
Really very helpful.
I just wanted to say fantastic becaue that’s what I was feeling, but felt it was a bit over the top.
Multisensory works the best for me. When synergyspanish incorporates these strategies you can sign me up!
Excellent, so much easier and effective.
Excellent format. The repetition of the target verbs and interspersing of typically spoken phrases works well for learning. Keep up the good work! Tengo que irme ahora.
I really learn this way often trying to picture new words in my head while saying them. This method using more senses is an even more natural way of learning faster especially if like me I don’t live in a Spanish speaking country therefore there are not many native speakers to practice with. Gracias Marcus!
This way presenting the class i liked very much. i will be if you continue this type of classes. thanks.
Great improvement having the transcript with the audio.
I’d like to see the transcript overlaid on a video of the spanish speaker actually speaking the spanish sections.
This fits my way of learning. Wish I could afford the whole program.
I have just gone through your Hard Spanish Made Easy. As it is only 05.30h here I did it without sound in order not to wake my sleeping wife. You may be surprised to hear that I remember the whole thing, so I presume it is even better with the sound switched on.
Marcus…. this engages another of our senses and surprisingly increased the attention span, in addition to adding another situlus to the learining process. I think you’re onto something here!
This is great. Before I used to read your PDF version along with the audio lessons. I often got lost when my eye drifted off the page, so this is a big improvement as the text is syncronised with the audio. Another advantage is it works really well with the IPad. Anybody who has ever tried to transfer your PDFs and MP3 files from their PC to the IPad will probably have found the process very difficult. This file worked first time and brilliantly on the IPad when I clicked on the link in your email.
I found this to be so much better having the sound and written dialogue , the use of different colors was also of benefit in reinforcing the lesson . I am very impressed with all of your Spanish teaching methods , my speech and cognitive abilities have improved immeasurably. I have downloaded Synergy Spanish onto my ipod and play it almost daily , it has given me more confidence in attempting to talk with Spanish speakers. Thank you for all of your endeavors.
I liked seeing the transcript correctly written in Spanish. That saves time as I often go back and have to scroll through all the lessons looking for one where I want to see how something is spelled. However I did not like having all the English on the screen at the beginning, just your voice would be fine for the introductory sections.
I would like to see exercises added to this part of your Spanish programme as in the earlier Synergy Spanish course. Then I would really know if I have learned it and absorbed the lesson.
You are the first and the best foreign language teacher, I’m promising myself that I’m going to buy for me the synergy and the other courses soon.
This is a great lesson, keep up the good work.
Wow!!! This is what I have looking for. You, as I have said before, are a master.
I am beginning to see the syntax here.
Lynn SW. Petty
Gracias. This was easy to understand and useful for a beginner like me. I am practicing Spanish with a CD discs with a microphone and a screen with a feedback needle. It reinforces your sentences word by word and then the intonation of the sentence. I like how you learn blocks of words at a time and then can use them with other expressions too. Would the Hard Spanish Made Easy course be thematic. I am going on a trip to Ojochal, Costa Rica the end of January and I am trying to learn useful Spanish for everyday use as fast as possible. Languages come easy for me. After spending only 11 days in Puerto Plata I was able to understand the G.O.s even though they cut off the last syllable of each word and spoke very fast for a beginner. I am looking for popular music in Spanish with the words with the CDs to learn the sound of the Spanish language as well. I think your new Hard Spanish Made Easy would be easy to learn. I know that many Costa Ricans speak English but it is always nicer if you can speak some of their language when asking for services and ordering in restaurants or asking your guides for information. I am lucky in the Orintology from Lanaudiere Group of 25 going to Costa Rica in that I speak English and French fluently and can understand a lot of German. In our secondary school we had a pilot program in French which was based on dialogues. During the week we learned the dialogues and their grammar and we presented the dialogues in front of the class in groups on Fridays. I really appreciated these three years in French. I later married a French-Canadian and his family only spoke French but I understood them immediately and fit right in. I love the French-Canadian hospitality and their friendliness. I have lived in Quebec now since 1978 and my family in Ontario don’t speak any French and now consider me a Quebecois since I speak French most of the time now at home and in public.
I am going to be helping a secondary Spanish student with her English since I am an ESL teacher semi-retired and she will be talking in Spanish with me.
I had a Venezualian female Engineer to correspond with for over two years. I am still looking for another correspondant preferably a professional worker or teach to correspond with in English and Spanish to practice my written Spanish. Do you know of anyone? When will your Hard Spanish Made Easy Course begin? I hope it is thematic and useful as so far to a beginner student. Thanks your course would be useful to me.
Marcus Reply:September 19th, 2012 at 11:08 pm
From you comments I would recommend you try Bola de Nieve first.
There are sample on this page:
What a quantum leap forward. Your lessons and methodology are far ahead of any other Spanish lessons I’ve ever come across. Keep up the wonderful work. I’m interested to see if your pricing for your new format will fit within my budget. I sure hope so.
excellent format.. Well done, Marcus!
Wow I didn’t want to stop reading…..This is great for me…….quero mas
the way you teach the best l have come across , the writing is bigger and simple to follow , at first l thought it was going too fast , and l could not keep up , then l found the stop button ,and as l am slow at learning and a pensioner, l can stop to think befor you give the answer , l dont alway get it right first time ,and complete the whole sentance , but feel happy just getting some of it right
thank you for helping me , l am very greatful
Wow! That was excellent! I was able to follow the audio exactly, due to the included transcription. I felt that I understood your female speakers pronunciation better than your male speaker, however. But it could have just been my speaker quality. His voice sounded a little scratchy where the female was crystal clear. But I felt much more comfortable with this lesson when the dialog and the transcript were joined in the video presentation. Nice job, Marcus. I am sure it was more work for you but I really got more out of the lesson than with only transcript or only audio. Thanks for including me in this freebie. I am saving everything you send and review it all frequently.
Works for me.Very easy to follow and understand especially the spanish speaker in this recording.
Your synergy lessons are invaluable. They have taught me the majority of what I know. Thanks 🙂
This is tricky, so many pro’s and cons. :p
I’m always one for wanting to see the words as well as hear them. However I find I don’t have a lot of time to just sit and study, therefore, I also tend to do a lot of my learning on the move, listening to lessons on my ipod whilst doing other things.
If I have the time, then sometimes I will sit and read along with the transcript, in which case this would be good, or sometimes I just want to look for a word I’m unsure of in the audio to see how it’s spelt; somehow I think that would be easier done on a printed page than in a video.
However, if I had this on my ipod, I could just listen to it and should a word be unclear to me, then bam! it’s right there for me to look at should I wish to. Downside is that playing video really chews the battery, ha.
I like this idea. It is very clear in the way it is set out; it’s like doing flash cards. But I think it will suit some more than others. If I had to sit for a long time doing something then I’d probably be happy to put in on the tv rather than just listen on the ipod, because it does help things to sink in when you see them. However I do agree that seeing the words can make your hearing ‘lazy’. I understand a lot more of what I see than what I hear. So I guess you would have to be aware of when and how you used a tool like this. Good for initial establishment perhaps.
Seems like a good thing to have, but personally I don’t know that I’d use it much.
Sorry for any rambling! and thanks again. 🙂
Great video think when you introduce it have the text in spanish so so we listen in English or speak spanish read in English
The more senses used, the better the connection to the info being presented – retired hypnotherapist here!
However, in this case, you have merely added another, albeit, semi-visual ‘verbal’ stimulus. Kinaesthetic, olfactory, gustatory responses are obviated with this format. I found little difference between your original version and the new version – although, I do have some experience – years ago, now with the Spanish language (Espana version). The only difference was seeing some of the words in larger and more colourful print. This probably costs more money and time.
What would add to your auditory and visual responses might be some form of cartoon drawing or an actual video -the problems with which would be more familiar to you than to me.
Your materials are well done and I know that costs can be an issue.
This will be a helpful way for me to learn the language- I do far better when can both see and hear the words.
This is fantastic, Marcus!!! I need the visual and the auditory content to learn/review what I know. Thanks for this new method to learn Spanish. I teach religious ed. to Hispanic children on Sunday morning and need to communicate with their parents. This will continue my journey!!! CJ
This is great for me to see what it says but hearing from the audio would be harder for me to grasp what it says. Since I’m deaf with little hearing. Gracias por su ayuda, Marcus
Me gusto mucho! Excellent idea! I have learned SO much from your lessons. Keep up the great work.
Once again, Marcus, you’ve made learning easy & fun! Like many others, I need both the text and the aural. Thanks. Hasta luego!
I like the updated format. I listen alot when I’m driving or doing other things but for those times when I can watch, it would be nice to have the option. I think the combination is helpful with the learning process. I would love to see more “everyday” scenarios in additon to the travel type situations. I’ve learned more from your program than any others I’ve done…thanks Marcus, it keeps getting better & better.
Yes, this combination of teaching modalities does allow for greater understanding and retention. Please keep continuing to provide ways for one to enhance one’s understanding and use of the language. Thank you!!!
I really found this a fun and relaxing way to study. I am usually a visual learner and having the listening component as well as the visual made the content stay in my head better. I would be interested in studing more using this method. I am an intermediate speaker and want to progress to the next level so possibly this could help. I like the pause after the english to figure out how to say it in spanish. I can also see if I was right or wrong right away whereas before you had to refer to your transcripts. I kind of reminds me of the Lomas TV program.
Marcos, I love your method of teaching, explaining, and practicing. Students almost never memorize anything, and the topics and vocabulary are extremely useful in real life. But I prefer the previous way of having the audio file and a separate transcript. Here’s why:
II have discovered that when I see a new foreign word I have a tendancy to pronounce it somewhat like one would in English. It is much better to listen and imitate the pronounciation until it becomes natural to say it correctly and then look at it while making sure the pronunciation doesn’t change in a subconscious effort to “correct” the pronunciation using English rules.
If that were all, it would be simple to just avoid watching the monitor for a while. However, on this demo I missed some of the capability found in the audio player Audacity. With it I can easily go back and listen to difficult parts of the lesson easily, and even do a loop of that part of the audio so it plays over and over again until I have mastered it. Being able to set the audio points visually is very easy in that program. Also, every once in a blue moon there is phrase that I can’t quite pronounce correctly. That program also allows it to be played back slower. Finally, quite frequently before I go on to the next lesson I will play the lesson back at a faster speed to make sure I have overlearned it to the point I can use it and will not forget it. I would miss those capabilities with the new method and prefer the older style. Either way, I am convinced you have the best programs for learning Spanish and i appreciate what your courses have done for me, and have recommended it many times.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Finally somebody has put together the verbal (pronunciation) with the spelling and visual words. For my mode of learning this is absolutely excellent. I haven’t gotten so much out of a few minutes of spanish in a long time. I completed synergy spanish some time ago. I still listen to the recordings, and I have come back to learn grammar and vocabulary.
My most frustrating experience has been that I learn a number of rules and words and phrases….but I could not speak spanish. I could not even say a few sentences to a tour guide in Mexico. With your course I am learning more rapidly and my fear of speech is lessening.
If I have “any” criticism of the lesson I just watched (and it applies to others) is that most dialogue is in the first person singular. I, I, I….and that is valuable. However, many, many people travel with a spouse or partner, and it would be great to be able to say we, we, we…
Many thanks again.
Thanks Marcus, My problem is hearing the Spanish not the English. I really like seeing things written. However I think it might be better if I only saw the Spanish on the screen so I could be thinking in Spanish rather than always translating. ie hear the English but see and think the Spanish. Not sure if this is because of my way of learning. It is approaching language by emersion but not quite. Terry
Very good, can’t think off hand what improvements could be made. I do think adding in
a written portion when can be seen in important. I can think of one comment: Spanish has
an odd construction with one word containing both subject and verb, such as peudo.( I can .._..
And there is a second combination like that with verb and predicate such as veerla ( see her ).
The verb lesson here is no exception with one word containing both the verb and
the object. You might mention that or stress it since English has no such constructions of that
type ( I think ?) It is just one way of reminding English speakers that they have to identify
both subject & verb, or verb & object before they speak….
Do want to reinforce what others have said, in that I have learned synergySpanish while listening
to my iTouch as I put in miles of cycling for morning exercise as I prepare for my three months in Chile. When I am talking to myself cycling, at least no one is watching… Keep up the good work….
Marcus, thank you for this, I think the screen adds a reinforcing element. Like others, I can see times when I’d rather work my ears alone — and that can be had simply by looking away from the screen.
Not long enough to make a really accurate assessment but I think it has got a ‘fun’ factor which beats reading off a PDF.
Wonderful. It is surely the best total way to learn a new language.
I found it easy and efficient
excellent Marcus….how good to find an innovatrive teacher, \
I tend to be both a visual and an aural type, so found this approach
very comfortable. The nice thing is, too, that if you want, during the less
challenging lessons you can still close the eyes and just listen.
This is great, the video reinforces the audio. Also it is good to see the actual spelling as this is sometimes kind of hard to do while just listening to the audio.
People can still have the audio to listen while in their car or while working, but this would be a great additional tool.
This is great ,this is the way should be. You do not only listen the words but also you see how they are written.
Gracias Marcus, no creo que soy un buen ejemplo para probar tu nuevo material. Tengo 30 años estudiando la idioma, un estudio que comenzó en Monterrey, México en 1980 y ahora estoy aquí de nuevo. Mi interés en los cursos suyos son para reforzar la idioma por mis estudios para la Maestría en español. La información es valido y útil. Gracias
I REALLY like it. I learn best by being bombarded with the written word in addition to hearing the native speaker instead of just one or the other. This is a winner!
I like the idea of looking at the words the same time I listen to.
I like the format it is not too fast and has alot of repettion. and moves on so as not to be boring. Of course it all hinges on a persons ability to remember. so the repetion is good and doesnt leave you cold
Muy bien Marcus!
A big advantage over the current format will be enhanced understanding of spelling and correct use of tildes.
Excellent, Marcus! A very useful format
Thanks for this, very helpful to see and hear!
Works for me ! I like the repetition. The audio level could be higher though
I believe this would help me understand and learn Spanish so much faster.
When can I receive this lesson?
Es un muy bonita idea, pero creo que todos tu cursos estan magnifico. Pero prefiero aprender cuando yo viajo al trabajo, entonces para mi, no esta el primero manera de usar los cursos.
I like it. I often listen to the tapes when I don’t have access to the translations. I learn better (less slowly) when I listen and read at the same time. One of the reasons for this is I do not hear very well. With this format I have the works with me on both my computer and my smart phone. The only drawback I can think of is I may not spend as much time on the worksheet, which are very helpful.
I like it very much. Seeing the words written is a big help to me.
yes, this is very helpful. i need to see the words and the sounds together. the repetition is, of course, the only way to build up the ideas.
Marco, You are the best. Absolutely wonderful.
I found this good but you many need to make a method to slow down the speech to hear it slower for extra clarity for those of us who need that slower speed when necessary
thanks. normal speed makes it difficult for me to memorize what I heard. I need to let what I hear sink in so a slower available speed would help until I had it then I could listen to it at normal speed
I like this Marcus. It seems to be the whole enchilada… 🙂 Combining the written transcript with the recorded dialog is a lot like one stop shopping. Very convenient.
A very interesting lesson Marcus keep up the good lessons. thanks Terri!
Simply nice and very effective. I am impressed with the “get” explanation which always confuses me. Thanks. I have a new handle.
I like it. It is not too difficult but I still learned a lot. I think the visual is a great addition.
¡Me encantó! ¿Cuando va a hacer mas? Quiero mas por favor.
Es especialmente simpático poder parar y comenzarlo con el ratón.
Me gusta !

Your methods of teaching Spanish are wonderful. I learned years ago using Speed Spanish but I would recommend your courses to anyone who wants to learn Spanish qyuickly and easily.
I like the presentation technique. It eliminates me having to start an MP3 lession and then reference the lesson text online or in a printed form to reinforce the clarity and spelling of what I’m verbally saying.
Thanks Marcus. Due to a combination of illness and possibly old age I stopped my study a while ago, but I found this method quite refreshing and easy. Hopefully it will revitalise my interest.
Brilliant! I’m one of those people who has to know what the word looks like as well as what it sounds like in order to implant it in my (stupendously slow) brain. This combination of video and audio is fantastic. Helps with your written Spanish as well as you are constantly reinforcing how the words are spelled. Great…. hazlo!
me gusta mucho
Fantastic! Some folks can learn by listening, while others learn visually. This covers all aspects.
I think it is an improvement, especially when you can’t hear clearly, but you do have the the text downloaded in the other lessons
But in this case you can listen only, or watch when ever you want, you don’t have to scroll the text as in the other way
Thanks very much for this lesson! Having both the written words and sounds really helps!
Excellent! To hear the correct pronunciation and see the correct spelling is very helpful.
I, too, give it two thumbs up! Thanks so much for your generosity.
You make learning Spanish so much more fun that ever before 😀
Looks good Marcus, but personally, I get more out of practicing hearing the dialog than following along with text. This way I can imagine the scenario while aprendiendo español.
This is great way to distinguish the difference between the reflexive verbs. We learn better with pictures. I would incorporate pictures also to help remember. Also, maybe a little informal mixed in would really help. Good Stuff.
Thanks for thinking of us who are better at the visual and audio learning! I like the new format of multi learning styles!
Thanks for the lesson. I’m not done with Shortcut to Spanish but this unit does challenge me to continue. I’ll be replaying this unit. I need the challenge JK
Marcos, I liked this very much, but can’t see that I would use it. I prefer to do the audio lessons on my IPod, so I can get around. I have found that I do the majority of the lessons when I am outside. Having a screen would be a hassle.
Muchas gracias por la oportunidad de probar el vídeo.
I found reflexive verbs very complicated at times but this breaks it down easily.
I feel this is the very best way to teach other people, including me. I really need the visual and auditory input. Gracias, Pam
THIS VOICE PLUS TEXT VIDEO IS VERY HELPFUL. YOU CLEARLY ‘OUT DO’ YOURSELF IN MAKING SPANISH EASIER TO LEARN FOR ANYBOBY. I NEVER THOUGHT SUCH COMBINATION WAS POSSIBLE. AWESOME!
Love your methods. Thanks.
Tried to leave a comment two times and it did not go, so I gave up. If this goes keep up the good work and thanks for the opportunity to comment. I am one of you Synergy pupils.
Gracias Marcus for your helpful lesson. Being able to see the words reinforces the sound, and for me, makes learning easier. I will be travelling to Spain on Thursday for a 4 week holiday and have found your course to be excellent, I ‘m sure that I will communicate well. Many thanks. Carol
Thanks, Marcos.. This one is lot better then only audio. This way you can see the word correct yourself too, if cant hear the word properly or confused about the word.
Keep up the good work Soon I will be writing you in spanish. Thanks.
I absolutely love this new format.
I like your lessons a lot! Just a suggestion from one who is a beginner and has used your system and am continuing to do so, Is it possible to listen without the printing and if one does not get it by listening then have the ability to toggle the wording on. In other words can the tonto conmigo control somehow whether or not the printed words are shown or not shown? Thanks for the opportunity to comment.
very beneficial lessons and needed to understand reflexive verbs
I haven’t done your synergyspanish program yet but this is very helpful. I like to see the conversation as well as hear it.
I do not have a Website. Pero me gusta este lexcion. Por Favor hace mas. Muchas gracias por la opportunidad ver su lexcion. íMe gust tambien synergy español! As you can observe, I need all the help that I can get. Most of my Spanish friends do not correct me when I speak their language either because they fear that it will embarass me, or simply because it takes to much time to do so, or they are lazy. In any case without constant correction, no puede aprender español bien, solo mal. Asi ayudame por favor.
Pretty good. Could be more exciting in the presentation format, but multiple senses helps. Thanks!
Hola Marcus! Me gusta el método. No he terminado todas las leccíones de Synergy Spanish pero éste video es fácil. Hello Marcus, I like this method. I appologize for my mistakes in Spanish, but I like to try. 🙂
Marcus, I am back from Mexico now and I do not “get” much of an opportunity to practice my spanish, but just listening to your blog, it reminds me just how friendly you make learning spanish.
I want to go back down to Mexico as soon as I get sorted out here…and I need my spanish to improve.
Gracias mi Amigo!
I’m a mostly visual learner, so it’s really nice for me to be able to see the words. I can see how this might develop into a bit of a crutch if carried too far. Certainly there won’t be any transcripts when conversing with native Spanish speakers. Still, for learning at a basic level, the video adds value to the lesson.
You are always seeking to improve on the delivery of spanish courses. I really admire and appreciate that.
I like the combo. As I see the English words I start visualizing the Spanish translation.
Gracias por invitarme a la leccion…
Thanks so much… I would be very interested in this type of class for Spanish… Is it available now, or is it something you are planning to release later???

It’s something for later. We are working on it now.
Marcus, I am back from Mexico now and I do not much of an opportunity to practice my spanish, but just listening to your blog, it reminds me just how friendly you make learning spanish.
Thank you so much..!
This is, for me, a great addition to your presentation. I learn best by seeing and hearing and if at all possible, by touching.
Many thank yous!!
excellent. Send me more, I enjoy the lessons
Hi Marcus, I have done synergy Spanish and bola de nieve and found them very good. I find I don’t need everything written in front of me know, although it was very comforting , when I started synergy spanish, to have the text. So for me this would be a bit tedious but others might find it good.
Hola Marcus, he terminado Synergy Spanish y bola de nieve, me gustan mucho los dos. Fueron muy bien. Ahora no necesito las palabras escrito entonces este es un poco aburrido para mi. gracias por su bien trabajo, sigo adelante en el camino espanol. Jeannine
Great great lesson!! Helps to understand the spanish language a lot better. Great job!! Can’t wait to get the entire course.
I like the concept. It would be especially helpful if sentences (short and long) were spoken at regular speed. In that way, students could possibly adapt their ear to words that run together, for example when two vowels occur side by side.
On only one hearing I am frustrating myself with the simple things I am forgetting.
I am sure I will get better but being in another country I have no access to my own pc.
Marcos, thank you for this. Honestly, I am not sure whether I like the addition of the text or not. It helps my poor hearing to get the word correct but I don’t listen as hard. Generally, I am one of those who learn better from what I see, but possibly, with pronunciation being a ‘need to learn’ item, the combination is best.
I am quite confused when to use irse and when to use irme!
Love it!! I think seeing the words makes it stick!!~
Its fine. But hearing what is said is my problem, so i find myself listening to it and ignoring the visual.I’d rather struggle with the sound.
Thanks, I find it very useful to the written words at the same time I hear and repeat them. This is a good improvement.
Excellent exercise. So easy to get a clearer grasp of the reflexive verbs!
I really like seeing the words while I’m learning them–that was one of my frustrations with Bola De Nieve–sometimes I could not understand the word we were learning. I didn’t have that problem with Jose Luis but I did with Elena, she didn’t speak as clearly as he did.
I think this is a great idea as longs as the videos are complimentary to the lesson. Because one of the reasons I liked your programs is because I can do them in the car or while I’m doing something else. If there are videos to watch then I have to sit in front of the computer and pay attention, which is why I didn’t like Rosetta Stone.
Good idea, Marcus. Keep up the good work.
it is much easer when i can see the words
Creo que esta es una idea buana, por que puede estudiar mas rapido, por que no necesito cambiar entre el audio y trancripciion. Poe favor, mandarme un e-mail cuando tiene mas lecciones como esto.
Gracias y tenga un buen dia.
Loved it. I think it will really help with learning Spanish.
being hearing impaired, I have to see the words while listening to the audio, makes it so much easier.
I love it.
I like this format very much. It helps to see the questions and answers.
I find the combination of audio, video and transcription very helpful for studying/learning Spanish. The sample video was very good.
I like it! The video with the text was a great feature. It made the learning so much easier than just the audio.
It was actually quite easy. I think seeing the words helped
